Before the work beginning it is necessary to check up carefully:
- Be sure to check that your battery charger designed to charge the battery of such capacity (Amp-
hours), see Specifications.
- Check the fuse. When replacing fuses, use only the original, the corresponding power of this
machine.
- Before connecting, make sure that the voltage is correct voltage for 220 +10% V. Connect the
device to be performed by specialists who have appropriate qualifications.
- Remove the battery caps if there is, and check the level of liquid. If it is not correct, filled up with
distilled water.

3. Descriptionе
The chargers SMART 100/12, SMART 180/12 are designed to charge lead acid batteries with liquid
or gel electrolyte, nominal voltage from 6V or 12V, and with capacity according to the following table:
Options:
1. Charger
2. The cables connect to the battery
3. Instruction manual
4. Packing
Your machine has been designed with a maximum of protections:
- The charge clamps are fully isolated.
- The polarity reversal and the short circuits do not cause any danger. A double fuse ensures the
protection. The replacement needs to be done manually.
- The protection against the transformer overloads or starting on the charge position is ensured
by a circuit breaker on the front panel of the machine.
- If it trips, a manual reactivation is needed.
- Thermal protection: your machine is protected by a thermostat (cooling about 1/4h). A red
indicator lights in case of overheating.

Function “Forced Charge”
Ensure that the correct sequence is followed.
Precaution: Check electrolyte level if possible and fill if necessary before charging.
Plug the charger into the mains (220 V). Indicators 5 and 6 which correspond to the last stored
data switch on (see Troubleshooting- Symptom 6).
Select your battery voltage (6V, 12V, 24V) according to the indications written on your battery or to
the coupling done. (in series or parallel see).
Choose the capacity of your battery. The charger will select the charging current automatically.
Connect the clamps: Red clamp on the battery “+” and black clamp on the “–“.
Charger starts charging automatically and will indicate after 30 seconds if the battery needs the
de-sulphation process. The indicators 1 and 2 indicate the charge state of your battery.
During a power cut, charger stores the charge state (except in «SOS Recovery» mode), so the
charge can continue after the power cut.
When the battery is charged, unplug the power cable.
Unplug the clamps or the battery connector.
If the battery is heavily discharged (very low voltage), the charge will not start automatically. The
charge indicator 1 does not switch on. The battery voltage indicators 5, and capacity 6 switch on. In
this case, select the voltage and the charge current then press the battery voltage button 3 for 5
seconds to start a «forced charge». The orange indicator 1 will switch on when the button is
released. If no indicators switch on, your battery is unrecoverable.

“SOS RECOVERY” Function (available for SMART 225/24)
If the SOS Recovery indicator 7 flashes when a battery is connected, this indicates that your battery
is deeply discharged, and sulphation has started.
The «SOS Recovery» function delivers a specific charging curve for between 24 to 48 hours to
regenerate the battery.
To activate this function follow the steps below:
1. The vehicle battery MUST BE DISCONNECTED (overvoltage danger).
2. Connect charger to the mains
3. Select charging voltage
4. Activate «SOS Recovery» by pressing button 4 for 5 seconds until the indicator 7 switches on (the
indicators 6 will flash).
5. Connect the charger clamps to the battery.
6. The green indicator 2 will signify the end of the charge.
