How to use the SYSTEM REINER grease guns
(Single-handed grease gun and
HD two-handed grease gun)
Attach the guide ring to the press but-
ton (as shown in the diagram) to hold
the SYSTEM REINER 500g cartridge
more securely.
Twist off the screw top of the cartridge.
Depending on how the cartridge was
filled, a small quantity of air may be
trapped in the area of the screw thread.
Press the centre of the cartridge piston
gently to push out this air and ensure
that the lubricant can be pushed out
more quickly. Any small amounts of air
contained in the lubricant will not affect
its effectiveness.
Screw in the cartridge until it stops.
Operate the press until lubricant
appears at the end of the armoured
pipe (3-5 strokes).
Now the press is ready to use. Because
the press is not filled by a spring
mechanism, you should not use it jerki-
ly. At each stroke, you should open the
press smoothly and keep it open for as
long as it takes, to prime the piston
chamber. Depending on the type of
lubricant used and the temperature, this
priming time, needed to ensure that the
piston chamber is filled sufficiently, may
take up to 3 seconds. The point at
which you get resistance when closing
the hand lever depends on the amount
of lubricant in this chamber.
Press the tube gently, until the lubricant
appears at the opening. Press the lubri-
cant into the high pressure cylinder, as
the check valve will otherwise not oper-
ate correctly. Screw the tube to the
press’s screw connection. The thread of
this screw is self-locking.
Attach either the armoured pipe* or the
nozzle tube to the press head. Now the
press is ready for use. If you are using
one hand, you can create a pressure of
up to 150 bars. This grease gun allows
a maximum pressure of 400 bars.
WARNING! Check the lubricating chan-
nel, nozzle and position before you
start operating the press with both
hands.
You can check the level of lubricant in
the tube and cartridge at any time. (Left
to right in the diagram: full tube, com-
pletely emptied tube, full cartridge,
completely emptied cartridge)

General instructions for use
■Before starting lubrication:
Ensure that the nozzle and grip coupling are clean.
■During lubrication:
The grip coupling/armoured pipe must sit upright
on the nozzle. If you hold the grip coupling at an
angle, the nozzle is not fully covered. Keep checking the
amount of lubricant being extruded.
■After lubrication:
Do not pull the mouthpiece/grip coupling off the nozzle,
but bend it sideways. Nozzles which do not work
properly must be replaced as soon as possible.
Important safety information
Our SYSTEM REINER grease guns all carry the GS label,
which means they have been ”checked for safety”.
They are designed to operate at pressures of 400 bars,
in accordance with DIN 1283, and have a large built-in
safety margin. Because of the way they are constructed,
they require less pressure than other lubricant presses in
common use.
