電池を廃棄する場合や保存する場合には、端子部にセロハンテープなど
の絶縁テープをはる。

•2 年に 1 度くらいは、内部清掃をお買上げ店にご依頼ください。
ベンジン、シンナー、アルコールなどで拭かない。

通気をよくするために、機器周辺では最低５ｃｍの距離を保つ。
通気性を保つために、新聞やカーテン、テーブルクロスなどで通気孔が
塞 がれな いようにしてくだ さい 。
火のついた蝋燭など、いかなる発火源も機器の上には置かない。
電池についてのご注意
※ ご使用になるフラッシュの電池の種類をお確かめの上お読みください。
電池を上手に長くお使いいただくため、下記をお読みください。使い方を誤ると、電
池の寿命が短くなるばかりか、液漏れ、発熱・発火の恐れがあります。
■取扱い上のご注意
•火中に投入したり、加熱したりしないでください。
•プラス極とマイナス極を針金などの金属で接続したり、ネックレスやヘアピンな
どの金属類と一緒に持ち運んだり保管しないでください。
•
液漏れしている、変形、変色、その他異常に気づいたときは使用しないでください。
•新しい電池と使用した電池（充電式電池の場合：充電済みの電池と、放電した電
池）、あるいは種類やメーカーの異なる電池を混ぜて使用しないでください。
•長い間使用しないときは、電池を取り出しておいてください（電池を取り外して
放置した場合、各種設定がクリアされます）。
•使用直後の電池は高温になることがあります。電池の取り外しはフラッシュの電
源を切り、電池の温度が下がるのを待ってから行ってください。
•寒冷地（＋ 10℃以下）では電池の性能が低下し、使用可能時間が極端に短くな
ります。特にアルカリ乾電池はこの傾向がありますので、電池をポケットの中な
どで温めてからお使いください。また、カイロをお使いの場合は直接電池に触れ
ないようにご注意ください。
•電池の電極に皮脂などの汚れがあると発光回数が極端に少なくなることがありま
す。電池をセットする前に電極を乾いた柔らかい布で丁寧に清掃してください。
■単 3 形ニッケル水素電池を正しくお使いいただくためのご注意
•お買上げ時や長い間使用しなかったニッケル水素電池は「不活性」状態になって
いる可能性があります。また、まだ十分に使用できる状態で充電を繰り返すと
「メモリー効果」が生じる可能性があります。｢不活性」状態や「メモリー効果」
が発生したニッケル水素電池では、充電後の使用可能時間が短くなる症状が出て
きます。｢不活性」や「メモリー効果」はニッケル水素電池固有のもので、故障
ではありません。

•ニッケル水素電池用充電器は、ニッケル水素電池 HR-AA 専用です。乾電池や他
の充電式電池を充電すると、液漏れ、発熱、破裂の原因になります。
•ニッケル水素電池の充電は、専用の充電器を使用し、充電器の「使用説明書」の
指示に従って正しく行ってください。
•充電器では、指定外の電池を充電しないでください。
•充電直後の電池は高温になっていることがありますので、ご注意ください。
•ニッケル水素電池は使わなくても自然放電しており、使用可能時間が短くなるこ
とがあります。
•ニッケル水素電池にも寿命があります。放電と充電を繰り返しても使用可能時間
が短い場合は、寿命の可能性があります。
■電池の廃棄について
•電池を捨てるときは、地域の条例に従って処分してください。
■小形充電式電池のリサイクルについて
小形充電式電池はリサイクル可能な貴重な資源です。ご使用済みの電池
は、端子を絶縁するためにセロハンテープなどをはるか、個別にポリ袋に
入れて最寄りのリサイクル協力店にある充電式電池回収BOX に入れてく
ださい。詳細は、「一般社団法人 JBRC」のホームページをご参照くださ

電池の破棄については、環境に配慮した方法が推奨されます。
この機器は温帯気候での使用を前提としています。
液晶表示パネルについて
液晶表示パネルが破損した場合、中の液晶には十分にご注意ください。万一のとき
は、応急処置を行ってください。
•皮膚に付着した場合：付着物をふき取り、水で流し、石けんでよく洗浄してくだ
さい。
•目に入った場合：きれいな水でよく洗い流し、最低 15 分間洗浄したあと、医師
の診断を受けてください。
•飲み込んだ場合：水でよく口の中を洗浄してください。大量の水を飲んで吐き出
したあと、医師の診断を受けてください。
液晶表示パネルは非常に高精度の技術で作られておりますが、黒い点や常時点灯
する点などが存在することがあります。これは故障ではなく、記録される画像に
は影響ありません。
使用上のご注意
■避けて欲しい保存場所
次のような場所での本製品の使用・保管は避けてください。
•雨天下、湿気やゴミ、ほこりの多いところ
•直射日光の当たるところや夏場の密閉した自動車内など、高温になるところ
•極端に寒いところ
•振動の激しいところ
•油煙や湯気の当たるところ
•強い電磁場の発生するところ（放送塔、送電線、レーダー、モーター、トランス、
磁石のそばなど）
•防虫剤などの薬品やゴム、ビニール製品に長時間接触するところ
■冠水、浸水、砂かぶりにご注意
水や砂は本製品の大敵です。海辺、水辺などでは、水や砂がかからないようにしてく
ださい。また、水でぬれた場所の上に、本製品を置かないでください。水や砂が本
製品の内部に入りますと、故障の原因になるばかりか、修理できなくなることもあり
ます。
■結露（つゆつき）にご注意
本製品を寒いところから急に暖かいところに持ち込んだときなどに、本製品内外部や
レンズなどに水滴がつくこと（結露）があります。このようなときは電源を切り、水
滴がなくなってからお使いください。

この度は、富士フイルムクリップオンフラッシュ「EF-42」をお買上げいた
だきまして、ありがとうございます。この使用説明書をよくお読みの上、正
しい扱い方で、ご愛用くださいますようお願いします。
■使用にあたっては
●本機をカメラに装着してからは必ずカメラのボディを保持するようにして
下さい。フラッシュを持っての持ち運びはカメラがホットシューから脱落
することがあります。
●使用可能なカメラについては富士フイルムホームページ（http://fujifilm.
jp/personal/digitalcamera/index.html）にてご確認下さい。
EF-42 の機能と特長
■ 光量はガイドナンバー最大 42 を実現（ISO100・ｍ）
 焦点距離は 24 〜 105mm（35mm フィルム換算）に対応しており、 
（オートズーム）では、レンズの焦点距離に対応して自動で照射角を切り
替えます。
■ 自由自在のバウンス機能
 発光部を、上方向へ 90 ゜、左方向へ 180 ゜、右方向へ 120 ゜動かすこと
ができます。あらゆるバウンス撮影のシチュエーションに自由自在に威力
を発揮します。
■ 露出補正機能
 ＋ / − 1.5EV までの「露出補正機能」で撮影者の意図を思いのままに表
現できます。
※ステップは 7 段階（‒1.5、‒1、‒0.5、0、+0.5、+1、+1.5）に設定可能。
■ パワーレシオを装備
 光量を手動で設定できるパワーレシオ機能も装備しており、値は 7 段階
（1/1、1/2、1/4、1/8、1/16、1/32、1/64）に設定できます。
■ 焦点距離表示切り替え機能
 焦点距離の表示は APS-C サイズ（ ）と 35mm フィルム換算の表
示（ ）に切り替えることができ、レンズの焦点距離表示を確認し
ながら撮影できます。
■ ワイドパネル内蔵
 超広角レンズにも使用可能。20mm 以上の焦点距離をカバーします
（35mm フィルム換算）。

※暗闇や低光量の場所では、ピントを合わせやすくするため、カメラの
シャッターボタンを軽く押すと AF 補助光が点灯します。ご使用のカメラ
によっては AF 補助光が点灯しない場合があります。

電池の入れ方
EF-42 ではリチウム電池、アルカリ電池、ニッケル水素電池の各種電池に
対応しています。充電時間を短くしたいときや発光回数を増やしたいときは
ニッケル水素電池のご使用をおすすめいたします。

 電池カバーの上部の辺りを少し押し込んでロッ
クを解除し、そのまま下方向へスライドさせる
と電池カバーが開きます。
Q 電池を入れる前に、電源スイッチが「OFF」に
なっていることを確認してください。

新しい単 3 形電池 4 本を CD の表示にしたがっ
て電池挿入部に入れ、電池カバーを閉じます。
Q 誤挿入防止設計になっておりますが、電池の配
列を間違えると故障の原因になりますのでご注
意ください。

電源スイッチを「ON」に合わせると、ピーと
いう発信音と共にチャージが始まり、充電完了
と同時にレディランプが点灯します。この状態
で撮影準備が完了します。

電源スイッチを「OFF」の位置に戻して、電源
をオフにします。レディランプが消えて発光しな
くなります。
Qカメラに取り付ける前に、電源をオンにした状態でホットシューの端子同士を
ショートさせないようご注意ください。端子同士の接触により、突然発光した
り、故障の原因になることがあります。
カメラへの取り付け方
EF-42 をカメラに取り付けるとき（または外すとき）は、電源を必ずオフに
してください。電源をオンのまま取り付ける（外す）と、カメラ側に故障が
起こる場合があります。

フラッシュのロックリングを右に回してロックを解除します。

フラッシュをカメラのホットシューにしっかり差し込みます。

ロックリングを左に回してフラッシュを固定します。
Q フラッシュをカメラに取り付ける場合は、必ずロックを解除してください。解
除しないで無理に差し込むとホットシュー部が破損します。
オートパワーオフ機能について
電源をオンにしたまま約 15 分以上各操作をしないときは、オートパワーオ
フ機能が作動し、表示が消えて発光しなくなります。再度撮影する場合は、
カメラのシャッターボタンを半押しするか、電源を一度オフにしてから再度
入れ直してください。
Rオートパワーオフ中も電力を消費していますので、長時間ご使用にならないと
きは、電源をオフにしてください。

TTL フラッシュ撮影では、被写体が適正な明るさになるようにフラッシュの
発光量が自動的に調整されます。また、カメラ側の各撮影モードに自動で対
応し、 シャッタースピードは各カメラの最高同調速度以下に設定されます。
MODE ボタンで設定モードを切り替え、SEL ボタ
ンで設定値を選びます。
•赤くバックライトが点灯している間に設定モー
ドを切り替えたり設定値を選んだりできます。
•赤のバックライトが消灯し、点滅している設定
項目が点灯に変わると設定が終了します。

 レディランプが点灯したら、シャッターボタンを全押しして撮影します。
■ TTL フラッシュ撮影について
EF-42 が絞り値、感度等を瞬時に計算し、液晶表示パネルに TTL 有効距離
をバーグラフで 0.5m から 32m まで表示します。有効距離表示は、カメラ
のシャッターボタンを軽く押すか、 になるまで表示されません。
「 」マークが表示された場合は、有効距離（32m）を超えていることを示
しています。
■ レディランプについて
フラッシュの充電中は、レディランプが点滅します。レディランプの点滅直
後にフル発光すると規定のガイドナンバーより約 1 絞り分アンダーになりま
す。最大光量を得るには、レディランプが点灯するまでお待ちください。レ
ディランプの点滅に 30 秒以上かかるときは、電池が消耗していますので新
しい電池に交換してください（カメラに取り付けない状態で、テスト発光後
30 秒以上かかる場合）。
■ テスト発光
レディランプ点灯後、テストボタンを押すと、テスト発光ができます。撮影
前に発光を確認する場合にご利用ください。
■ 露出補正設定
フラッシュの発光量を設定できます。
MODE ボタンを押して （＋補正）または
（−補正）を点滅させ、SEL ボタンで設定値
を選びます。

マニュアルでフラッシュの光量を設定すると、被写体の反射率に影響されな
いため、反射率が極端に高いものや低いものを撮影するときに便利です。

カメラとフラッシュの電源をオンにします。

フォーマット設定で APS-C サイズ（ ） または35mm フィルム
換算（ ）の表示を選びます。

露出補正設定（プラス補正 /マイナス補正設定）で明るさを設定します。
R+ 補正を設定するとフラッシュの発光量が多くなり、−補正を設定すると
フラッシュの発光量が少なくなります。

ズーム設定で照射角を選択します。
Rの照射角を選択した場合、使用中のレンズの焦点距離よりも狭い照射角
（望遠側）を設定すると、画面周辺が暗くなります。

パワーレシオ（PR）設定で光量を選択します。

設定の終了を確認します。
Q液晶表示パネルに が表示されていることを確認してください。
R点滅項目が点灯に変わり、赤のバックライトが消灯すると設定は終了して
います。

 レディランプが点灯したら、シャッターボタンを全押しして撮影します。
■ 撮影距離範囲について
マニュアルフラッシュ撮影時の撮影距離範囲は、以下のガイドナンバーと
ISO 感度係数により求めることができます。

 例えば、マニュアルフラッシュ撮影で、パワーレシオ（PR）選択で
1/8 を選択し、焦点距離 35 ｍｍ、絞り値 f/4、ISO400 で撮影する
場合、ガイドナンバー 10 × ISO 感度係数 2 ÷絞り値 4 により、フラッ
シュの撮影範囲は 5 ｍになります。
R液晶表示パネルには適正な露出が得られる撮影距離が表示されます。「 」
マークが表示された場合は、有効距離（32m）を超えていることを示して
います。

ワイドパネルの使い方
フラッシュ発光部の上部に内蔵されているワイドパネルを引き出して発光部
を覆うと、焦点距離 20mm 以上の超広角レンズの画角もカバーします。ズー
ムモードがマニュアル時は 24mm（35mm フィルム換算）までズームを移
動してください。また、光量は若干、低下します。

バウンス撮影
EF-42 は、TTL モードのまま天井（壁）にバウンスすることができます。
フラッシュの発光部を直接被写体に向けて撮影すると、撮影条件によっては
被写体の背後に強い影が生じますが、発光部を天井（壁）に向けることによ
り、ソフトで自然な感じに撮影できます。
フラッシュ発光部を回転し、向きと角度を決めます。
Q 無理をしたり、角度表示以上に曲げると故障の原因にな
りますので、ご注意ください。
Q 反射面の色や素材によりますが、光量が約 25％程度
低下します。
Q バウンスさせる反射面はなるべく白色に近い反射率の
高い面を選んでください。特にカラー撮影の場合、反
射面に色彩があると被写体がその色の影響を受けるこ
とがありますのでご注意ください。

連続撮影時のご注意
連続発光による加熱での劣化を防止するため、連続発光は約 10 回で止めて
10 分以上休止してください。

Do not touch internal

Should the case break open as the result of a fall or other acci-
dent, do not touch the exposed parts. Failure to observe this
precaution could result in electric shock or in injury from
touching the damaged parts. Remove batteries immedi-
ately, taking care to avoid injury or electric shock, and take
the product to the point of purchase for consultation.
Do not place the ash on an unstable surface. This can cause
the flash to fall or tip over and cause injury.
Never attempt to use your ash while in motion.
Do nottouch anymetalparts ofthe ashduring a thunderstorm.
This can cause an electric shock due to induced current
from the lightning discharge.
Do not use batteriesexcept as specied. Load batteries as polar
characters “+” and “-” indicate.
Do not heat, change or take apart the batteries. Do not drop or
subject batteries to impacts. Never attempt to charge lithium
or alkaline batteries. Do not short batteries. Do not store bat-
teries with metallic products. Use only the specied charger to
recharge Ni-MH Batteries. Any of these actions can cause
batteries to burst or leak and cause fire or injury as a result.
Use only batteries specied for use with this ash. The use of
other power sources can cause a fire or product malfunc-
tion.
Do not use your ash nearby cosmetic products or drug contain-
ers. The spoil or the ingress into flash can cause fire, electric
shock, or injury.
Do not direct the ash at the operator of a motor vehicle. This
can cause a motor vehicle accident.
Do not use the ash in the presence of ammable or volatile gas.
If batteries leak and uid gets in contact with your eyes, skin or
clothing,ush the aectedarea withcleanwaterandseek medi-
cal attention or call an emergency number right away.
In dispose or long-term storage of batteries, cover battery
terminals by insulation tape. Contact with other metallic
objects or batteries could cause batteries to ignite or burst.

Do not use this ash in locations aected by oil fumes, steam,
humidityor dust. This can cause a fire or electric shock.
Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine,
re or the like. Do not leave this ash in places subject to ex-

tions such as a sealed vehicle or in direct sunlight. This can
cause a fire.
Keep out of the reach of small children. This product could
cause injury in the hands of a child.

When you are cleaning the ash or you do not plan to use the
ash for an extended period, remove batteries. Failure to do
so can cause batteries to leak fluid, a fire, or electric shock.
Using a ash too close to a person’s eyes may temporarily aect
the eyesight or can cause a visual impairment. Take particular
care when photographing infants and young children.
Request regular internal testing and cleaning for your ash.
Build-up of dust in your flash can cause a fire or electric
shock. Contact your FUJIFILM dealer to request internal
cleaning every two years. Please note that this service is
not free of charge.
Donot use alcohol,thinner,benzene, orother volatilechemicals
to clean your ash. This can cause fire or electric shock.
For sucient ventilation, no object should be placed within 5cm
from the apparatus. The ventilation should not be impeded
by covering the ventilation openings with items such as
newspaper, table-cloths, or curtains.
No naked ame sources such as lighted candles should be placed
on the apparatus.

Batteries
Note: Check the type of batteries used in your ash and read the ap-
propriate sections.
The following describes the proper use of batteries and how to prolong
their life. Incorrect use can shorten battery life or cause leakage, over-
heating, fire, or explosion.
■Cautions: Handling the Batteries
• Do not expose to flame, or heat.
• Do not transport or store with metal objects such as necklaces or
hairpins.
• Do not use batteries that are leaking, deformed, discolored, or with
other abnormal states.
• Do not mix old and new batteries, batteries with different charge lev-
els, or batteries of different types.
• If the flash will not be used for an extended period, remove the bat-
teries. Note that various settings of the flash will be reset.
• The batteries may be warm to the touch immediately after use. Turn
the flash off and allow the batteries to cool before handling.
• Battery capacity tends to decrease at low temperatures below 10°C
(50°F). Keep spare batteries in a pocket or other warm place and ex-
change as necessary. Cold batteries may recover some of their charge
when warmed.
• Fingerprints and other stains on the battery terminals can affect a
number of flash firing. Thoroughly clean the terminals with a soft, dry
cloth before inserting batteries in the flash.
■Rechargeable AA Ni-MH Batteries
The capacity of Ni-MH batteries may be temporarily reduced when
new, after long periods of disuse, or if they are repeatedly recharged
before being fully discharged. This is normal and does not indicate
a malfunction.
The flash draws a small amount of current even when off . Ni-MH bat-
teries that have been left in the flash for an extended period may be
drawn down to the point that they no longer hold a charge. Batteries
that no longer hold a charge even after repeatedly being discharged
and recharged have reached the end of their service life and must be
replaced.
Ni-MH batteries can be recharged in a battery charger (sold separately).
Batteries may become warm to the touch after charging. Refer to the
instructions provided with the charger for more information. Use the
charger with compatible batteries only.
Ni-MH batteries gradually lose their charge when not in use.
■Disposal
Dispose of used batteries in accord with local regulations.
Environmental disposal of batteries is advisable.
The apparatus is premised on use in warm climates.
Liquid Crystal
In the event that the LCD panel is damaged, care should be taken to
avoid contact with liquid crystal. Take the urgent action indicated
should any of the following situations arise:
• If liquid crystal comes in contact with your skin, clean the area with a
cloth and then wash thoroughly with soap and running water.
• If liquid crystal enters your eyes, flush the affected eye with clean wa-
ter for at least 15 minutes and then seek medical assistance.
• If liquid crystal is swallowed, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
Drink large quantities of water and induce vomiting, then seek medi-
cal assistance.
Although the display is manufactured using extremely high-precision
technology, it may contain pixels that are always lit or that do not light.
This is not a malfunction, and images recorded with the product are
unaffected.
Caring for the Flash
To ensure continued enjoyment of the product, observe the following
precautions.
■Storage and Use
If the flash will not be used for an extended period, remove batteries.
Do not store or use the flash in locations that are:
• exposed to rain, steam, or smoke
• very humid or extremely dusty
• exposed to direct sunlight or very high temperatures, such as in a
closed vehicle on a sunny day
• extremely cold
• subject to strong vibration
• exposed to strong magnetic fields, such as near a broadcasting an-
tenna, power line, radar emitter, motor, transformer, or magnet
• in contact with volatile chemicals such as pesticides
• next to rubber or vinyl products
■Water and Sand
Exposure to water and sand can also damage the flash and its internal
circuitry and mechanisms. When using the flash at the beach or sea-
side, avoid exposing the flash to water or sand. Do not place the flash
on a wet surface.
■Condensation
Sudden increases in temperature, such as occur when entering a heat-
ed building on a cold day, can cause condensation inside the flash. If
this occurs, turn the flash off and wait for droplets to evaporate.

Inserting Batteries
The EF-42 can be used with lithium, alkaline, and nickel-metal hy-
dride (NiMH) batteries. Choose NiMH batteries for reduced ash
charging times and longer battery life.

Place your thumb in the depression at the
top of the cover and push the cover slightly
in to release the latch, then slide the cover
down to open it.
QBefore opening the cover, be sure the ON/OFF
switch is in the OFF position.

Insert four AA batteries in the orientation
shown on the inside of the cover. Close the
cover.
QAlthough the battery chamber is designed to
prevent the batteries being inserted incor-
rectly, failure to insert the batteries in the cor-
rect orientation could result in malfunction.

Turn the ash on. A beep will sound as the
ash starts charging. The ash is ready for
use when charging is complete and the
ready lamp lights.

Turn the ash o. The ready lamp will turn
o to show that the ash will not re.
QTurn the ash o before mounting it on the hot shoe. If the ash is on, it
may short the hot shoe contacts, causing the ash to re unexpectedly or
other product malfunction.
Attaching the EF-42
Be sure the EF-42 is o before mounting it on or removing it from the
camera. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to
the camera.

Rotate the ash lock ring to the right to release the lock.

Mount the ash securely on the camera hot shoe.

Rotate the lock ring to the left to lock the ash in place.
QBe sure the release the lock before attaching the ash. Attempting to at-
tach the ash without releasing the lock could damage the hot shoe.
Auto Power O
If no operations are performed for 15 minutes while the ash is on,
the displays will turn o and the ash will be disabled. Normal opera-
tion can be restored by pressing the camera shutter button halfway
or turning the ash o and then on again.
RThe ash continues to draw power from the batteries after the displays
have turned o automatically. To reduce the drain on the batteries, turn
the ash o when it is not in use.
