警告
電源プラグを
抜く
異常が起きたら電源を切り、電池を外す。
煙が出ている、異臭がするなど異常状態のまま使用すると、火災・感
電の原因になります。お買上げ店にご相談ください。
水ぬれ禁止
内部に水や異物を落とさない。
水・異物が内部に入ったら、電源を切り、電池を外す。そのまま使用
すると、ショートして火災・感電の原因になります。お買上げ店にご相
談ください。
風
呂、シャワー
室での使用禁止
風呂、シャワー室では使用しない。
火災・感電の原因になります。
分解禁止
分解や改造は絶対にしない（ケースは絶対に開けない）。

接触禁止
落下などによって破損し、内部が露出したときは、露出部に手を触れない。
感電したり、破損部でけがをする原因になります。感電やけがに注意して
速やかに電池を取り出し、お買上げ店にご相談ください。
不安定な場所に置かない。

引火性・可燃性・爆発性ガスがある場所や、工場など粉塵が発生する
場所では、使用しない。
爆発や火災の原因になります。
電池の液が漏れて、目に入ったり、皮膚や衣服に付着したときは、失
明やけがのおそれがあるので、ただちにきれいな水で洗い流し、すぐ
に医師の治療を受ける。
電池を廃棄する場合や保存する場合には、端子部にセロハンテープな
どの絶縁テープをはる。
他の金属や電池と混じると発火、破裂の原因になります。
油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりなどが多い場所に置かない。
火災・感電の原因になることがあります。
異常な高温になる場所に置かない。
電池を直射日光や火などの高温にさらさない。
窓を閉めきった自動車の中や、直射日光が当たる場所に置かないでく

お手入れの際や長時間使用しないときは、電池を外す。

ます。
フラッシュを人の目に近づけて発光させない。
一時的に視力に影響したり、視力障害などの原因になる場合がありま
す。特に乳幼児を撮影するときは気をつけてください。
定期的な内部点検・清掃を依頼する。
本製品の内部にほこりがたまり、火災や故障の原因になることがあります。
2 年に 1 度くらいは、内部清掃をお買上げ店にご依頼ください。
ベンジン、シンナー、アルコールなどで拭かない。
火災・感電の原因になります。
通気をよくするために、機器周辺では最低５ｃｍの距離を保つ。
火のついたろうそくなど、いかなる発火源も機器の上には置かない。
フラッシュ発光部に指などを触れたまま発光しないこと。
やけどの危険があります。
フラッシュ発光部を汚したり、物でふさいだまま発光しないこと。
発煙や変色の原因になります。
電池についてのご注意
※ ご使用になるフラッシュの電池の種類をお確かめの上お読みください。
電池を上手に長くお使いいただくため、下記をお読みください。使い方を誤ると、
電池の寿命が短くなるばかりか、液漏れ、発熱・発火のおそれがあります。
■取り扱い上のご注意
• 火中に投入したり、加熱したりしないでください。
• プラス極とマイナス極を針金などの金属で接続したり、ネックレスやヘアピ
ンなどの金属類と一緒に持ち運んだり保管しないでください。
• 液漏れしている、変形、変色、その他異常に気づいたときは使用しないでください。
• 新しい電池と使用した電池（充電式電池の場合：充電済みの電池と、放電した
電池）、あるいは種類やメーカーの異なる電池を混ぜて使用しないでください。
• 長い間使用しないときは、電池を取り出しておいてください（電池を取り外
して放置した場合、各種設定がクリアされます）。
• 使用直後の電池は高温になることがあります。電池の取り外しはフラッシュ
の電源を切り、電池の温度が下がるのを待ってから行ってください。
• 寒冷地（＋ 10℃以下）では電池の性能が低下し、使用可能時間が極端に短
くなります。特にアルカリ乾電池はこの傾向がありますので、電池をポケッ
トの中などで温めてからお使いください。また、カイロをお使いの場合は直
接電池に触れないようにご注意ください。
• 電池の電極に皮脂などの汚れがあると発光回数が極端に少なくなることがありま
す。電池をセットする前に電極を乾いた柔らかい布で丁寧に清掃してください。

■単 4 形ニッケル水素電池を正しくお使いいただくためのご注意
• お買上げ時や長い間使用しなかったニッケル水素電池は「不活性」状態になっ
ている可能性があります。また、まだ充分に使用できる状態で充電を繰り返
すと「メモリー効果」が生じる可能性があります。｢不活性」状態や「メモリー
効果」が発生したニッケル水素電池では、充電後の使用可能時間が短くなる
症状が出てきます。 ｢不活性」や「メモリー効果」はニッケル水素電池固有のも
ので、故障ではありません。
• ニッケル水素電池用充電器は、ニッケル水素電池 HR-AAA 専用です。乾電
池や他の充電式電池を充電すると、液漏れ、発熱、破裂の原因になります。
• ニッケル水素電池の充電は、専用の充電器を使用し、充電器の「使用説明書」
の指示に従って正しく行ってください。
• 充電器では、指定外の電池を充電しないでください。
• 充電直後の電池は高温になっていることがありますので、ご注意ください。
• ニッケル水素電池は使わなくても自然放電しており、使用可能時間が短くな
ることがあります。
• ニッケル水素電池にも寿命があります。放電と充電を繰り返しても使用可能
時間が短い場合は、寿命の可能性があります。
■電池の廃棄について
• 電池を捨てるときは、地域の条例に従って処分してください。
■小形充電式電池のリサイクルについて
小形充電式電池はリサイクル可能な貴重な資源です。ご使用済み
の電池は、端子を絶縁するためにセロハンテープなどをはるか、個
別にポリ袋に入れて最寄りのリサイクル協力店にある充電式電池
回収 BOX に 入れてください。 詳細は、「一般社団法人 JBRC」

電池の破棄については、環境に配慮した方法が推奨されます。
この機器は温帯気候での使用を前提としています。
使用上のご注意
■避けて欲しい保存場所
次のような場所での本製品の使用・保管は避けてください。
• 雨天下、湿気やゴミ、ほこりの多いところ
• 直射日光の当たるところや夏場の密閉した自動車内など、高温になるところ
• 極端に寒いところ
• 振動の激しいところ
• 油煙や湯気の当たるところ
• 強い電磁場の発生するところ（放送塔、送電線、レーダー、モーター、トラ
ンス、磁石のそばなど）
• 防虫剤などの薬品やゴム、ビニール製品に長時間接触するところ
■冠水、浸水、砂かぶりにご注意
水や砂は本製品の大敵です。海辺、水辺などでは、水や砂がかからないようにし
てください。また、水でぬれた場所の上に、本製品を置かないでください。水や
砂が本製品の内部に入りますと、故障の原因になるばかりか、修理できなくなるこ
ともあります。
■結露（つゆつき）にご注意
本製品を寒いところから急に暖かいところに持ち込んだときなどに、本製品内外部や
レンズなどに水滴がつくこと（結露）があります。このようなときは電源を切り、水
滴がなくなってからお使いください。

EF-X20 について
このたびは、富士フイルムフラッシュ「EF-X20」をお買上げいただき
まして、ありがとうございます。この使用説明書をよくお読みの上、正
しい扱い方で、ご愛用くださいますようお願いします。
REF-X20 は富士フイルム社製デジタルカメラ専用のフラッシュです。
REF-X20 は、カメラに装着すると高精度調光を自動的に行い正確で最
適な光量で発光する「TTL オート調光」と、光量を手動で設定できる
「マニュアル発光」を装備しています。
RTTL オート調光撮影で光量が不足したり、多すぎたりした場合は、調
光指定ダイヤルで光量の増減を簡単に調整できます。
Rカメラ本体の直接、または間接的なフラッシュの光に反応して発光す
る「スレーブ撮影モード」を装備しています。

 ご使用にあたって
Q本製品をカメラに装着してからは必ずカメラのボディを保持するように
してください。フラッシュを持っての持ち運びはカメラがホットシュー
から脱落することがあります。

電池を入れる
1電池蓋を開けます。
2新しいアルカリまたはニッケル水素の単 4 形電
池 2 本を電池室内の CD にしたがって電池挿
入部に入れます。
Q 電池の配列を間違えると故障の原因になりますの
で、ご注意ください。
3電池蓋をしっかり閉めます。
電源を ON/OFF にする
電源ボタンを押すと、テストボタン（レディラン
プ）が点滅し、チャージを開始します。テストボ
タン（レディランプ）が点灯に変わると、充電が
終了し、撮影準備完了です。
Rフラッシュの電源を ON にすると、指標ランプ
が点灯します。
R再度電源ボタンを押すと、電源が OFF になり、指標ランプが消灯しま
す。
Q カメラに取り付ける前に、電源を ON にした状態でホットシューと接点
ピンをショートさせないようご注意ください。ホットシューと接点ピ
ンの接触により、突然発光したり、故障の原因になることがあります。

フラッシュをご使用の前に
テストボタン（レディランプ）が点滅中でもフラッシュは発光しますが、
発光量が不十分な場合があります。最適な光量で撮影するには、テスト
ボタン（レディランプ）が点灯してから撮影してください。
Qテストボタン（レディランプ）の点滅に 30 秒以上かかるときは、電
池が消耗していますので新しい電池に交換してください。
カメラに取り付ける
1フラッシュとカメラの電源が OFF になっていることを確認します。
2スレーブスイッチを Xの位置に設定します。
3フラッシュをカメラのホットシューにカチッとなるまで
しっかり差し込み、フラッシュを固定します。
4フラッシュとカメラの電源を ON にします。
Rカメラからフラッシュを取り外すときは、取り付け脚ロック解除ボタ
ンを押しながら外してください。
Qフラッシュを取り付けたり、取り外したりするときは、電源を必ず
OFF にしてください。電源を ON のまま取り付ける（外す）と、フラッ
シュが誤動作したり、カメラに故障が起こる場合があります。
 テスト発光について
テストボタン（レディランプ）点灯後、テストボタンを押すとテスト発光が
できます。発光を確認したいときなどにご利用ください。
TTL オート調光撮影
1調光指定ダイヤルを回し、TTL AUTO 側の 0を指標ラ
ンプに合わせます。
2フラッシュとカメラの電源を ON にします。
3テストボタン（レディランプ）が点灯したら、撮影します。
Qテストボタン（レディランプ）の点滅直後に発光させると TTL 有効範囲
が短くなりますので、ご注意ください。
R被写体が TTL 有効範囲内にあるときは、発光と同時に指標ランプが
3 秒間点滅します。指標ランプが点滅しない場合は、被写体にもっと
近づくか、絞りを開けて（数値の小さい方へ）撮影してください。ま
た、ISO 感度をさらに高感度側（数値の大きい方へ）に変えてみるこ
とも有効な手段です。
 画像が明るすぎたり暗すぎたりしたときは
調光指定ダイヤル（TTL AUTO 側）で微妙な光量を調整できます。画像が
明るすぎるときは調光指定ダイヤルを−側に回し、暗すぎるときは＋側に回
して光量を調整します。
次のような場合には、調光指定ダイヤルで、満足のいくような明るさになる
ように調整してください。
•デイライトシンクロ（日中、屋外でフラッシュ光を補助光として使用し、
太陽光で被写体にできる影を和らげるために使う）や逆光時の撮影で、
充分な光量が得られなかったとき。
•明るさを変えた画像を撮影したいとき。
マニュアル発光撮影
調光指定ダイヤルを回し、MANUAL 側の光量設定値に合
わせて光量を調整します。

スレーブ撮影モードの使い方
EF-X20 は、スレーブ窓にカメラ本体の直
接、または間接的なフラッシュの光を感知
すると同調して発光します。カメラ本体の
フラッシュとの組み合わせにより、補助灯
として使用できます。
Rスレーブ撮影では、調光指定ダイヤルの MANUAL 側で光量を設定してご
使用ください。
Rカメラのフラッシュの発光方式が「プリ発光タイプ」の場
合はスレーブスイッチを P-MODE の位置に設定し、「非
プリ発光タイプ」の場合は N-MODE の位置に設定してく
ださい。発光方式がプリ発光タイプか非プリ発光タイプの
どちらかわからない場合は、最初にスレーブスイッチを
P-MODE の位置に設定して発光させてみてください。ご使用のカメラが
プリ発光タイプの場合には、同時に発光しますが、非プリ発光タイプの場
合には同時に発光しません。その場合にはスレーブスイッチを N-MODE
の位置に設定してご使用ください。
Rカメラ側のフラッシュモードは Nに設定してください。
 三脚のご使用について
付属の三脚ネジアダプターを本体の取付け脚に
取り付け、三脚ネジアダプターのネジ穴に三脚を
取り付けると、任意の発光方向へ固定できます。
ワイドパネルの使い方
通常は焦点距離が 28 ミリ（35 ｍｍフィルム換
算）までのレンズに対応していますが、それ以上
の広角レンズをご使用の際は、ワイドパネルをご
活用ください。ワイドパネルを使用すると、20
ミリまでの焦点距離に対応することができます。
側面のワイドパネル開閉レバーを押し下げると、
ワイドパネルが使用できます。なお、このパネルを使用すると、ガイド
ナンバーは「12」まで下がりますので、ご注意ください。
連続撮影時のご注意
連続発光による加熱での劣化を防止するため、15 回ほど連続でフル発
光させたら一度止めて 10 分以上休止してください。

R発光回数とは、常温下で製造後 3 ヶ月以内の新しい電池を使用し、30

するのに要する時間が 30 秒以内である状態までの回数です。
R発光間隔とは、発光回数に示した条件下において発光後、テストボタン
（レディランプ）が点灯するまでの最短時間をいいます。

Do not place the ash on an unstable surface. This can cause the flash to fall
or tip over and cause injury.
Never attempt to use your ash while in motion.
Do not touch any metal parts of the ash during a thunderstorm. This can
cause an electric shock due to induced current from the lightning dis-
charge.

Do not use batteries except as specied. Load batteries as polar characters
“+”and “–”indicate.
Do not heat, change or take apart the batteries. Do not drop or subject bat-
teries to impacts. Never attempt to charge alkaline batteries. Do not short
batteries. Do not store batteries with metallic products. Use only the specied
charger to recharge Ni-MH batteries. Failure to observe these precautions
can cause batteries to burst or leak and cause fire or injury as a result.
Use only batteries specied for use with this ash. The use of other power
sources can cause a fire or product malfunction.
Do not use your ash nearby cosmetic products or drug containers. The spoil
or the ingress into flash can cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
Do not direct the ash at the operator of a motor vehicle. This can cause a
motor vehicle accident.
Do not use in the presence of ammable objects, explosive gases, or dust.
If batteries leak and uid gets in contact with your eyes, skin or clothing, ush
the aected area with clean water and seek medical attention or call an emer-
gency number right away.
In dispose or long-term storage of batteries, cover battery terminals by insula-
tion tape. Contact with other metallic objects or batteries could cause
batteries to ignite or burst.
Donotuse this ashinlocationsaectedby oilfumes,steam, humidity ordust.
This can cause a fire or electric shock.
Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, re or the like.
Do not leave this ash in places subject to extremely high temperatures. Do
not leave the flash in locations such as a sealed vehicle or in direct sun-
light. This can cause a fire.
Keep out of the reach of small children. This product could cause injury in
the hands of a child.
CAUTIONCAUTION
Do not place heavy objects on the ash. This can cause the heavy object to tip
over or fall and cause injury.
Do not cover or wrap the ash or the charger in a cloth or blanket. This can cause
heat to build up and distort the casing or cause a fire.
When you are cleaning the ash or you do not plan to use the ash for an extended
period, remove batteries. Failure to do so can cause batteries to leak fluid, a
fire, or electric shock.
Usingaashtoo closetoa person’s eyesmay temporarily aect theeyesightor can
cause a visual impairment. Take particular care when photographing infants
and young children.
Request regular internal testing and cleaning for your ash. Build-up of dust in
your flash can cause a fire or electric shock. Contact your FUJIFILM dealer
to request internal cleaning every two years. Please note that this service
is not free of charge.
Do not use alcohol, thinner, benzene, or other volatile chemicals to clean your
ash. This can cause fire or electric shock.
For sucient ventilation, no object should be placed within 5cm from the appa-
ratus. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation
openings with items such as newspaper, table-cloths, or curtains.
Nonakedame sources suchaslighted candles shouldbeplaced on the apparatus.
Remove your ngers from the ash window before the ash res. Failure to ob-
serve this precaution could result in burns.
Keep the ash window clean and do not use the ash if the window is obstructed.
Failure to observe these precautions could cause smoke or discoloration.

Batteries
Note: Check the type of batteries used in your ash and read the appropriate
sections.
The following describes the proper use of batteries and how to prolong their life.
Incorrect use can shorten battery life or cause leakage, overheating, fire, or explosion.
■ Cautions: Handling the Batteries
• Do not expose to flame, or heat.
• Do not transport or store with metal objects such as necklaces or hairpins.
• Do not use batteries that are leaking, deformed, discolored, or with other abnormal
states.
• Do not mix old and new batteries, batteries with different charge levels, or batteries
of different types.
• If the flash will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries. Note that
various settings of the flash will be reset.
• The batteries may be warm to the touch immediately after use. Turn the flash off
and allow the batteries to cool before handling.
• Battery capacity tends to decrease at low temperatures below 10°C (50°F). Keep
spare batteries in a pocket or other warm place and exchange as necessary. Cold
batteries may recover some of their charge when warmed.
• Fingerprints and other stains on the battery terminals can affect a number of flash
firing. Thoroughly clean the terminals with a soft, dry cloth before inserting bat-
teries in the flash.
■ Rechargeable AAA Ni-MH Batteries
The capacity of Ni-MH batteries may be temporarily reduced when new, after long
periods of disuse, or if they are repeatedly recharged before being fully discharged.
This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
The flash draws a small amount of current even when off. Ni-MH batteries that have
been left in the flash for an extended period may be drawn down to the point that
they no longer hold a charge. Batteries that no longer hold a charge even after re-
peatedly being discharged and recharged have reached the end of their service life
and must be replaced.
Ni-MH batteries can be recharged in a battery charger (sold separately). Batteries may
become warm to the touch after charging. Refer to the instructions provided with
the charger for more information. Use the charger with compatible batteries only.
Ni-MH batteries gradually lose their charge when not in use.
■ Disposal
Dispose of used batteries in accord with local regulations.
Environmental disposal of batteries is advisable.
The apparatus is premised on use in warm climates.
Caring for the Flash
To ensure continued enjoyment of the product, observe the following precautions.
■ Storage and Use
If the flash will not be used for an extended period, remove batteries. Do not store or
use the flash in locations that are:
• exposed to rain, steam, or smoke
• very humid or extremely dusty
• exposed to direct sunlight or very high temperatures, such as in a closed vehicle
on a sunny day
• extremely cold
• subject to strong vibration
• exposed to strong magnetic fields, such as near a broadcasting antenna, power
line, radar emitter, motor, transformer, or magnet
• in contact with volatile chemicals such as pesticides
• next to rubber or vinyl products
■ Water and Sand
Exposure to water and sand can also damage the flash and its internal circuitry and
mechanisms. When using the flash at the beach or seaside, avoid exposing the flash
to water or sand. Do not place the flash on a wet surface.
■ Condensation
Sudden increases in temperature, such as occur when entering a heated building on
a cold day, can cause condensation inside the flash. If this occurs, turn the flash off
and wait for droplets to evaporate.

Mount Flash EF-X20” owners.
Please read this owner’s manual carefully so that you
can use this unit correctly.
RMount the EF-X20 on your camera for a choice of
manual and TTL auto ash control. TTL auto uses
high-precision ash level adjustment to accurately
determine optimal ash output.
ROver- or under-illumination can easily be corrected
using the exposure setting dial.

Installing the Batteries
1Open the battery cover.
2Insert two new AAA alkaline or
Ni-MH batteries in the orientation
shown in the label inside the bat-
tery compartment.
QThe unit may malfunction if the batter-
ies are not in the correct orientation.
3Close the battery cover.
Turning the Unit On
Press the ON/OFF button. The TEST but-
ton (READY lamp) will blink as the ash
charges. Charging is complete when
the lamp stops blinking.
RThe indicator lamp lights when the unit is on.
RTo turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button again. The indi-
cator lamp will turn off.
QTurn the flash off before mounting it on the hot shoe. If the
flash is on, it may short the hot-shoe contacts, causing the
flash to fire unexpectedly or other product malfunction.

Flash Status
The ash can be used while the TEST button (READY lamp)
blinks, but may not re at full power. To ensure optimal
exposure, wait for the lamp to stop blinking.
RIf the TEST button (READY lamp) does not light after 30 sec-
onds, the batteries are exhausted and should be replaced.
Mounting the Unit on the Camera
1Turn o the camera and ash unit.
2Slide the wireless slave ash selector to X.
3Slide the unit onto the camera hot shoe
until it clicks into place.
4Turn on the camera and ash unit.
RTo remove the unit, keep the mounting lock releasing but-
ton pressed while sliding the unit from the camera.
QTurn the unit off before mounting it on or removing it from
the camera. Failure to observe this precaution could result in
product malfunction or damage to the camera.
Test FiringTest Firing
The unit can be test-fired by pressing the TEST button after
the READY lamp stops blinking.
TTL Auto Flash Control
1Rotate the exposure setting dial to TTL AUTO
0.
2Turn on the camera and ash unit.
3Wait for the TEST button (READY lamp) to stop blinking
before taking pictures.
QUsing the flash while the TEST button (READY lamp) is
blinking reduces the effective TTL flash range.
RIf your subject is in the effective TTL flash range, the indica-
tor lamp will blink for 3s after the flash fires. If the lamp
does not blink, move closer to your subject, choose a wider
aperture (lower f-number), or increase ISO sensitivity.
Fine-Tuning Flash OutputFine-Tuning Flash Output
Use the exposure setting dial to fine-tune flash output.
Choose negative TTL AUTO values if your subject is too brightly
lit, positive if it is too dark. Employ fine-tuning to vary bright-
ness from the level suggested by the camera or when using
the flash to“fill in” shadows in back- or sun-lit subjects.
Manual Flash-Level Adjustment
Manual ash output is selected with the
MANUAL section of the exposure setting dial.

Slave Mode
In slave mode, the EF-X20 res
in response to direct or indirect
light from a ash on the camera,
allowing remote ash units to be
used for supplemental lighting.
RUse the MANUAL section of the exposure setting dial to ad-
just output for the slave flash.
RIf the camera uses pre-flashes, slide the wireless
slave flash selector to P-MODE; otherwise, choose
N-MODE. If you are unsure which is correct, select
P-MODE, take a test shot to determine whether
the EF-X20 fires at the same time as the camera
flash, and choose N-MODE if it does not.
RSet the camera flash mode to N.
The Adapter for Setting TripodThe Adapter for Setting Tripod
To mount the flash unit on a tripod, at-
tach the adapter for setting tripod to
the mounting foot and the tripod to the
adapter, then orient the flash as desired.
The Wide Panel
The EF-X20 comes with a built-in wide
panel. Without the adapter, the ash
covers the angle of view of a 28 mm
lens (35 mm format equivalent); with
the adapter, it can provided coverage
for wide-angle lenses with focal lengths as short as 20
mm. Using the adapter is easy: simply rotate the lever
for setting wide panel on the side of the ash as shown.
Note that using the wide panel lowers the ash Guide
Number to 12.
Continuous Use
Using the ash many times in quick succession can
cause overheating that may damage the ash. It is rec-
ommended that you turn o the ash for 10 minutes
after about 15 consecutive shots.
