software include or header files, application examples, target boards, evaluation boards, engineering
l damages, on the use of the Product in
accordance with (i) the terms of the License Agreement and the Sale and Purchase Agreement under
which agreements the Product has been delivered, (ii) the technical descriptions and (iii) all
accompanying written materials. In addition, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law,
Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe GmbH disclaims all warranties and liabilities for the performance of the
Product and any consequential damages in cases of unauthorized decompiling and/or reverse

1. Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe GmbH warrants that the Product will perform substantially in

receipt by the customer. Concerning the hardware components of the Product, Fujitsu
Semiconductor Europe GmbH warrants that the Product will be free from defects in material
and workmanship under use and service as specified in the accompanying written materials
for a duration of 1 year from the date of receipt by the customer.
2. Should a Product turn out to be defect, Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe GmbH´s entire liability

discretion, either return of the purchase price and the license fee, or replacement of the

1 Overview
1.1 Abstract
The SK-96620_350-64PMC(1) is a multifunctional evaluation board for the Fujitsu F²MC-
16FX Flash microcontroller MB96620 series and MB96350 series as well as 16LX Flash
microcontroller MB90350 series.
It can be used stand alone for software development and testing or as a simple target board
to work with the emulator system.
The board allows the designer immediately to start with the software development before his
own final target system is available.

1.3 General Description
The SK-96620_350-64PMC(1) supports the F2MC-16FX microcontrollers of MB96620 and
MB96350 Series as well as F2MC-16LX microcontroller MB90350 Series with FPT-64P-
M09/M23/M24 packages.
It can be used as a stand-alone evaluation board or as a target board for the emulator
debugger.
1.3.1 MCU Clocks
The board is supplied with a socketed 4 MHz crystal as the main oscillation clock. Using the
internal PLL of the µC, internal clock rates up to 56 MHz can be achieved.
Additionally a 32 kHz crystal is mounted for use as a subclock, if this is supported by the
device type.
1.3.2 RS-232 and LIN
Two separate RS232 transceivers and two single-wire LIN-transceiver are available to
connect three on-chip UARTs to 9-pin D-Sub connectors. The transceivers generate the
adequate RS232 levels for the receive (RXD) and transmit (TXD) lines. Either the DTR line
or the CTS line can be selected with jumpers to generate a system reset. The RTS signal
can be shortcut to CTS using the jumpers JP31 and JP32.
All transceivers are fully 3.3V IO compatible to enable low voltage applications.

1.3.3 CAN Bus
Two high-speed CAN transceivers can be connected to the CAN interface of the MCU to
allow easy connection to CAN networks.
All transceivers are fully 3.3V IO compatible to enable low voltage applications.
1.3.4 MCU Pins
Almost all pins of the microcontroller are connected to pin headers and are directly available
to the user. Furthermore, the most important signals are available on one VG96 connector.
1.3.5 Power Supply
The on-board linear mode voltage regulators allow the user to connect an unregulated DC
input voltage of +9V to +15V, and supplies all voltages needed by the board and an optional
graphic sub-board. The regulators are thermally protected against overload.
1.3.6 User Buttons
There are six push button switches on the board, which can be connected to input ports of
the microcontroller. This allows the user to evaluate external Interrupts, external timer trigger
-
button (colored) for the microcontroller, controlled by the supply monitor IC.
1.3.7 User LEDs and optional LCD
Eight user LEDs are connected to Port 6 and are grounded by 1k resistor network (N1). If
these LEDs are not required, this resistor network can be removed to disconnect the LEDs
and to free the I/O port.
1.3.8 Emulator System
In case of the MB963xx and 16LX microcontroller the board can be used as an emulator
target board. In this case the microcontroller must be removed from the socket and the
corresponding probe cable has to be mounted.

1.3.9 On-Chip Debug System (OCDS)
If the On-Chip debugging on the MB96600 super series is used, then the embedded
emulator MB2100-01-E must be connected to the target board via SMA jack.

2 Installation
Remove carefully the board from the shipping carton.
Check first if there are any damages before power on the evaluation board.
For the power supply a DC input voltage of 9 V –12 V is recommended. The positive
voltage (+) must be connected to the centre, and ground (GND) must be connected to
the shield of the connector X12!
After power-on (JP43), the green power-on LEDs (D16, D17 and D18) should be lit. If the
LEDs do not light up, switch off the power supply and check input polarity and current
capability of the DC supply used. Please do not look directly into the LEDs to prevent
harming your eyes.
The in-circuit programming allows the user to program own applications into the Flash
memory. The procedures for Flash programming are described in chapter 5.
If the board shall be used as a MB963xx or 16LX emulator target board, switch off the power
supply and remove the microcontroller from the socket. Now the probe cable can be
mounted on the socket. Take care of the pin 1 marking on the socket and fasten the probe
cable with the provided screws.
Do not use any other probe cable than MB2198-504 or MB2147-540 only!
Connect the probe cable to the MCU family specific emulation Adapter Board. Check all
jumper settings of the evaluation board, the Probe Cable, and the Adapter Board.
On the basis of the MB963xx/16LX microcontroller turning on the emulation system, the
principle of the power-up sequence is described:
1. Power up the Emulator Main Unit (MB2198-01-E)
2. Power up the Adapter Board (MB2198-500), if needed
3. Power up the target Board (SK-96620_350-64PMC)
To turn off the system, switch off the components in reverse order, beginning with the target
Board.
Please refer to the corresponding user manuals and application notes for the emulator how
-LED of the emulator must be on.
Note:
Some customers experience connectivity problems when connecting the MCU into
the socket adapter. Only the small red screwdriver available in your box should be
used to connect the cover (HQPACK) onto the socket (NQPACK).
If the four screws are not tightening equally, then it may cause a poor contact.
Do not screw the cover too tight (max 0.054 Nm). If you have connectivity problems
then please loosen the screws and tighten again the screws equally.
Do not clean NQPACK, YQPACK, and YQSOCKET with steam. Cleaning material will
contaminate inside of connector.

4 Jumpers and Switches
Description of jumper settings
4.1 Introduction
This chapter describes all jumpers and switches that can be modified on the evaluation
board. The default setting of a jumper is highlighted by a grey shaded area. If the
settings depend on the microcontroller, then for each derivate a column with the respective
settings will be listed.
4.2 Operating-Mode (S2)
This switch controls the MCU operation mode after reset. Take account that in case of
MB966xx the MCU can be flashed via the debug tool MB2100-01-E and Softune
Workbench. In this case the MCU is in RUN mode. If a Serial Flash Programmer is applied,
please check for correct jumper settings noted below DIP switch settings (see Figure 4-1
and Figure 4-2).

In contrast to the MB96300 super series the MB96600 Flash devices can be also programmed
directly via the debug tool MB2100-01-E and Softune Workbench. In this case the DIP switch
keeps in RUN mode configuration.

4.3 P17_0 (JP50)
Depending on the MCU and the operation mode of the MCU the connection between pin 22
and DIP switch is closed.
In case of using the debug interface with a MB966xx microcontroller it is recommended to
open the jumper JP50, as this pin can be used as GPIO. Furthermore the level of the mode
pin MD_temp (P17_0) has no influence in RUN mode as well as in Serial Programming
mode.
Due to the mode pin settings of the former MB963xx device mode pin MD1 must be closed
to external pull up resistor and to the DIP switch.

4.4 Debug (JP: 51A, 51B)
The jumpers JP51A and JP51B, parallel to each other, connect the DIP switch for
configuration of pin 17. That pin corresponds to the MB96600 mode pin Debug I/F and the
former MD0 pin of MB96300 super series.
In case of a MB963xx MCU the jumper JP51A/B must be closed, in order to get the MCU
into serial programming mode for flashing the microcontroller. For detailed description about
the operation modi see chapter 4.2Error! Reference source not found..
In case of a MB966xx device the MCU can be programmed by the Softune Workbench via
the debug interface. As there are strict layout design rules for the debug signal line the
jumper JP51A/B ought to be open.
JP51A solder jumper connects DIP switch and mode pin pin 17 to change mode

4.5 FKP (JP54, JP55)
For faster programming with the GALEP programmer the port pin P00_1 can be connected
to the Flash-kit connector (X17). For further information about synchronous programming
see chapter 6.3.
