Introduction
Models 711-002 Single-party and 7115-002
Multi-party Desk-edge Subsets are equipped with
handset press-bars for paging operation.
Models 611C Single-party and 6115 Multi-party
Desk-edge Subsets each contain a push-to-page
button on the subset.
Mounting and installation are the same for all of the
models. The only difference in operation is the use
of either the page push button or the press-bar for
paging, depending on the unit.
Desk-edge subsets are housed in rugged, compact
steel enclosures. The enclosures require a minimal
amount of space, and a mounting angle bracket is
provided to accommodate a wide variety of mounting
options.

Installation
1. A mounting angle bracket is provided with the subset. See
Figure 1 for the location. Install the angle bracket on a desk or
similar location using the appropriate hardware for the two 0.220-
inch diameter holes.
2. Mount the subset enclosure onto the angle bracket with the
supplied hardware. Three sets of positioning holes allow
incremental right- or left-hand adjustments. Figure 3 shows one
typical mounting situation.
3. The attached subset cable plugs directly into the mating connector
in the base of the amplifier enclosure.
Operation
GAI-Tronics offers two types of Page/Party™ systems: Page/single-party with one party line, and
page/multi-party with five party lines, allowing up to five simultaneous two-way conversations.
Page/Single-Party:To initiate a call, lift the station handset and press the page button or the handset
press-bar. Speak directly into the handset. The paged individual(s) lifts the handset of the nearest
Page/Party™ station for two-way communication over the party line.
Page/Multi-Party:Select an available party line with the five-position selector switch. Speak directly
into the handset indicating the party line being used. The paged individual selects the indicated party line
and lifts the handset for two-way communications.

Adjustments
The following adjustments are accessible through the rear chassis of the remote amplifier using a
small flat blade screwdriver:
Microphone Gain: adjusts the gain level from the microphone signal to the page or party lines.
Receiver Sidetone: the amount of signal transmitted from the microphone to the handset receiver.
Receiver Volume: adjusts the gain level from a party line to the receiver.
Maintenance
The following table lists some of the difficulties encountered in Page/Party™ systems. Included are
some troubleshooting hints to aid in remedying these problems.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Solution
Outgoing conversation level
requires adjustment. 1. Adjust the microphone gain at the remote amplifier.
2. Replace handset microphone.
Incoming conversation level
requires adjustment. 1. Adjust the receiver volume control at the remote amplifier.
2. Replace the receiver element in the handset.
Feedback/distortion (a hum or
buzz on the line) occurs during
all Page/Party™ station
operation.
1. Adjust the receiver sidetone at the remote amplifier.
2. The line may be improperly terminated. Inspect the system
cable for loose connections, shorts, and grounds. Line
balance assembly connections are critical.
Feedback occurs during paging. Use the muting feature in the amplifier enclosure at the terminal
blocks as detailed in the enclosure manual.
Sidetone (how the operator hears
himself) requires adjustment. 1. Adjust the receiver sidetone at the remote amplifier.
2. Check the wire terminations for proper connections in the
line balance assembly.
Crosstalk occurs. One or more system cable pairs may be improperly terminated.
Visually inspect the system cable connections for accidental
crossing of the cable pairs or grounds.
Miscellaneous A defective handset/speaker amplifier printed circuit board
assembly (PCBA) can cause numerous problems. If the
Page/Party™ station is not functioning properly, it may be
worthwhile to replace the handset/speaker amplifier PCBA.
