GettinG Started
Your VIB 10/11 plays audio from
your Garmin GPS navigator through
your vehicle’s speakers. When you
are navigating a route, the VIB 10/11
mutes the stereo’s audio and plays
the navigation prompts through your
speakers. If a mobile phone with
Bluetooth
®
wireless technology is
connected to the GPS navigator, calls are
heard through the vehicle’s speakers.
Updating the GPS
Navigator Software
To operate the GPS navigator with the
VIB, you need to updated the GPS
navigator’s software.
1. Go to www.garmin.com/products/
webupdater and download
WebUpdater to your computer.
2. Connect the GPS navigator to
your computer using the mini-
USB cable.
3. Run WebUpdater, and follow the
screen prompts.
After conrming that you want to
perform an update, WebUpdater
automatically downloads the update and
installs it on your GPS navigator.
Mounting Your GPS
Navigator
1. Plug the power cable from the
VIB into the power connector on
the GPS navigator or cradle.

2. Align the ball on the mount with
the socket on the GPS navigator
or cradle.
3. Snap the GPS navigator or cradle
onto the ball socket.
Refer to your GPS navigator’s
documentation for more information.

Audio Output
The VIB mutes or pauses the vehicle’s
stereo output to sound the navigation
prompts or phone calls.
If the VIB HiFi audio source was
connected to your radio’s auxiliary input
(optional), you can play MP3s on your
GPS navigator and hear the MP3s over
your vehicle’s speakers. You may need
to select the appropriate audio source
on the stereo to hear the MP3s. Refer to
your stereo’s manual.
Controlling the Volume
The VIB allows you to set the volume
on your GPS navigator independently of
your stereo. Control your stereo volume
as you normally would. Adjust the
volume on your GPS navigator as you
normally would as well.
USinG FM traFFic
(ViB 11 Only)
Your VIB 11 has an integrated FM
TMC trafc receiver that receives trafc
information broadcast over the FM
Radio Data System.
The power cable must be plugged into
your GPS navigator to receive trafc
data. You must be in data range of an
FM station transmitting TMC (Trafc
Message Channel) data to receive trafc
information. For coverage areas, refer to
the Garmin Web site at www.garmin
.com/trafc.

Note: Garmin is not responsible
for the accuracy of the trafc
information. The FM trafc
receiver simply receives signals
from the trafc service provider
and shows that information on
your GPS navigator.

Note: You do not need to
activate the subscription included
with your VIB 11 (if it came with
one). Your GPS navigator receives
trafc data as soon as it acquires
satellite signals and receives
trafc signals from the trafc
service provider.
Trafc in Your Area
On the Menu page, touch .
Trafc on Your Route
The map displays or when
there is a trafc delay on your route.
The number in the icon represents the
delay time in minutes. The delay time is
automatically calculated into the arrival
time shown on the map.
1. Touch or to view a map
and more information.
2. Touch the text bar for more
information. If there is more than
one delay, touch Details.
3. Touch Avoid to recalculate your
route to avoid this delay.

Green = Low severity; trafc is
owing normally.
Yellow = Medium severity; trafc is
a bit congested.
Red = High severity; trafc is
heavily congested or
stopped.

Adding a Subscription
You can purchase additional subscriptions and
renew your subscription if it expires. Go to
www.garmin.com/fmtrafc.
Follow the instructions on the Web site to
purchase and add the new subscription.
You can also refer to your GPS navigator’s
owner’s manual for specic instructions on
adding a subscriptions
The trafc subscription code cannot be
reused. You must obtain a new code each
time you renew your service. If you own
multiple FM trafc receivers, you must
obtain a new code for each receiver.

duplicate, republish, transmit, or distribute in any
way any portion of trafc incident data. You agree
to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Trafc
Service Provider (and its afliates) and Garmin Ltd.
(and its subsidiaries) against any and all claims,
damages, costs, or other expenses that arise directly
or indirectly out of (a) your unauthorized use of
the trafc incident data or the RDS/TMC network,
(b) your violation of this End User Subscriber
Agreement and/or (c) any unauthorized or unlawful
activities by you in connection herewith.
The Trafc Service Data is informational only. You
assume all risk of use. The Trafc Service Provider,
Garmin Ltd. (and its subsidiaries), and their
suppliers make no representations about content,
trafc and road conditions, route usability, or speed.
Garmin and its Trafc Service Provider(s) make no
warranty of tness or compatibility of the trafc
data with the Garmin product and no warranty that
the trafc data will operate properly as integrated

and interfaced with the Garmin product. In addition,
Garmin and its Trafc Service Provider(s) make
no warranty with regard to the reliability, accuracy,
exhaustiveness and completeness of the trafc data,
which may contain inaccuracies and/or errors from

applicable law, any and all warranties of any kind
whatsoever with regard to the trafc data are hereby
expressly waived and excluded, including, but not
limited to, those of merchantability, tness for a
particular purpose, accuracy or completeness of the
trafc data, and/or a lack of viruses.

all liability for any loss, injury, or damage resulting
from use of or inability to use the Garmin product
and trafc data as a result of weather difculties, the
