General Information
Keep the working area during work clean and dry. If necessary, wipe off splashes or spilled
liquids with a dry cloth.
WARNING: Never place the motor base on wet underlayments or towels. Do not allow
liquids to run on or into the motor base. If liquids have entered into the motor base, imme-
diately pull the power plug from the outlet, and have the device checked at a specialised
service centre.
WARNING: Never put your hands or foreign objects (e.g.: cooking utensils) into the
glass jug, when the glass jug is mounted onto the motor base. Always turn the appliance off
(ON/OFF-switch position ›0‹ (AUS/OFF), wait until the blades stand still and then remove
the glass jug from the motor base before removing the lid to check the content or the food
in the glass jug. Use only cooking utensils made of wood, rubber or plastic. Do not apply
any violence, when pushing the food down the glass jug or clearing ingredients that have
become wedged in the blade.
Your Vital Mixer Basic cannot replace all your kitchen appliances. You cannot use it to mash
potatoes, to beat eggs for a meringue or to prepare minced or juiced fruits or vegetables.
Also for very firm dough types (e.g.: yeast dough) or harsh ingredients (e.g.: nuts, hard
chocolate) this device is not suitable.
Important: Do not let food residue to dry in the glass jar of your appliance. Clean the
appliance immediately after operation (see ›Care and Cleaning‹).
Tips for Preparation
Always place liquid ingredients first in the Vital Mixer Basic, if it is not otherwise specified
in the recipe.
Cut solid foods (vegetables, fruits, cheeses, cooked meats, fish and seafood) in about 2 cm
pieces. Do not overload the motor with too hard or too large ingredients. Turn the appliance
off (ON/OFF-switch position ›0‹ (AUS/OFF) when the motor gets stuck to avoid overheating
(see: ›Trouble Shooting‹). Process the ingredients just a few seconds. It is better to consider
the quality of the product in between, as to obtain a too fine, possibly mushy product.
With the 5 speeds and pulse function (switch position: ›P‹) you can prepare easily, versatile
and quickly a variety of dishes.

27
Selecting the Speed Levels
Turn the ON/OFF-switch easily to the desired speed level. The appropriate speed level is
determined by the textures of the ingredients. To use the pulse function (ON/OFF-switch
position ›P‹) press and hold the switch in position until the ingredients have reached the
desired consistency.
Working with the Vital Mixer Basic
WARNING: Always remove the glass jug from the motor base before opening the lid or
checking the contents.
1. Place the ingredients in the glass jug.
Important: Pre-cooked ingredients should cool down before processing. If possible fill in
the liquid ingredients first. Cut solid ingredients before placing into the glass jug into 2 cm
pieces. Do not fill the glass jar too full. Otherwise, the content may overflow or spray out
and the engine could get stuck.
2. Place the lid on the glass jar and press down firmly. Close the central opening of the lid with
the transparent beaker. The has beaker two small guide pins that fit into the slots on the cover
on both sides. Slide the beaker into the lid all the way down and turn it clockwise to lock.
WARNING: While the appliance is operating never remove the glass jug, remove the
lid or insert wooden spoon or other foreign objects into the glass jug. Be sure to turn ON/
OFF-switch to position ›0‹ to turn off the appliance and wait until the motor has come to a
complete stop. Then take down the glass jug from the motor base, before reaching into the
glass jug or work with cooking utensils and similar objects in the glass jug.
WARNING: If you process hot ingredients, please make sure not to burn yourself on the
glass jar or lid, or scald on steam or spraying liquids. Place perhaps a kitchen towel over
the lid to protect from splashes and steam.
3. Keep one hand on the lid and turn the appliance on using the ON/OFF-switch. Be sure
to select the desired speed level. The motor starts to work.
ATTENTION: If the motor ceases to operate unintentionally or is unusually slow, immedia-
tely turn the ON/OFF-switch to position ›0‹. Otherwise, the motor may overheat.
Pay attention to the section ›Trouble Shooting‹.
Note: If you have pressed the pulse button or the ice-crushing button, the motor runs as
long as you hold the switch.
4. After a few seconds turn the ON/OFF-switch to position ›0‹ (OFF) to turn off the appliance.
5. Once the blades have come to a stop, grasp the glass jug by the handle and remove the
jug from the motor base. Afterwards you can remove the lid to check the product or push
solid or viscous ingredients with a wooden or plastic spoon down gently.
If you wish to add other ingredients, use the beaker from the lid. To do this, turn the beaker
first anti-clock-wise and then pull it up and out. Put the ingredients through the resulting hole
and put the beaker afterwards back on.
You may possibly want to run the appliance once more for a few seconds until the product
has the desired texture. Return the glass jug onto the motor base. You can then turn on the
appliance again.

28
6. When the product has the desired consistency, turn the appliance off (ON/OFF-switch
to position ›0‹) and remove the glass jug from the appliance. Then remove the lid from the
glass jug. Flowable products - from drink to viscous dough - you can pour from the glass
jug. Then you can clean the glass jug immediately according to the instructions.
Important: Do not leave to dry any food residues on the parts of the appliance. Clean the
equipment immediately after each use in accordance with the instructions ›Care and cleaning‹.
CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING: Wear appropriate gloves when working with hot liquids. Be careful not to
burn yourself on the glass jug or scald spouted or overflowing liquids or steam.
Attention: Never use hard or sharp-edged objects, caustic cleaning products (disinfec-
tants), scouring aids (scourer), or abrasives to clean the appliance or the any accessories.
Do not apply any violence when cleaning the knife insert so as not to bend the blades
and not to damage the mounting. Never clean the appliance or any components of it in
the dishwasher.
Cleaning the glass jug
WARNING: The blades of the knife insert are sharp. Treat the blades carefully and
without violence, so as not to cut you and not to damage the blades.
1. Empty the glass jug completely and rinse loosely adhering food with clean water.
2. Then fill hot detergent solution into the glass jug. The blades should be covered with
the solution. Seal the jug with the lid, turn the appliance on (switch position: ›1‹) and let it
work for a few seconds.
3. Switch the appliance off (ON/OFF-switch position ›0‹ (AUS/OFF). Wait until the blades
have come to a stop, and remove the glass jug from the motor base.
4. Unplug the power plug from the outlet.
5. Remove the lid from the glass jar and pour out the detergent solution. Remove residue on
the walls of the glass jar. You can easily remove clinging residue with a plastic cleaning.
WARNING: Use extreme caution when working in the area of the blades; be careful not
to cut on the sharp blades and not to damage the blades.
Important: In most cases, the glass jug will already be hygienically clean. However,
should food residues still are adhering to the knives, then disassemble the bottom of the
jug and clean the components individually.
6. Rinse the lid and the beaker in warm detergent solution.
7. Rinse the glass jug, the lid and the beaker afterwards with clean water, dry the parts with
a dish towel gently and let it dry out of the reach of small children at the air.
Disassembling the Glass Jug and Removing Stubborn Residue
WARNING: The blades of the knife are very sharp. Treat the blades carefully and wit-
hout violence, be careful not to cut on the sharp blades and not to damage the blades.
8. Keep the glass jug over a sufficiently large bowl, turn the mount to the left and remove
knifes and the sealing ring downwards.

29
9. Rinse all parts of the mixing jar in warm detergent solution. Soak the stubborn food
residues on the parts for a few minutes and then remove these with a small plastic brush or
sponge. While doing so be careful not to cut on the sharp blades.
10. Rinse the parts of the glass jug with clear water and dry the parts afterwards with a
clean cloth gently. Let the parts (especially blades and bottom of the jug) dry in a protected
and inaccessible to small children area at the air. Place the parts back together after drying
(see: ›Assembling the glass jug‹).
Cleaning the Motor Block
WARNING: Always unplug the power cord before cleaning the motor base. Never pour
water or other liquids on the motor base pour, run into the motor base or under the motor
base. Never immerse the motor base in liquids or place on wet or damp surfaces. Wipe
away spilled liquids immediately. At the bottom of the motor base are vents. Please ensure
that no water can run or drip into these openings.
1. Unplug the power plug from the outlet.
2. Then wipe the motor base with a damp, not dripping cloth. Make sure to avoid damaging
the drive wheel and bearing of the drive wheel in the centre of the socket. Never poke with
fixed or hard objects in the mount of the motor base. Use a soft brush if necessary to clean
the mount. If moisture gets into the mount of the motor base, clean and dry the mount very
carefully and thoroughly.
3. Dry the appliance thoroughly. The entire motor base must be completely dry before you
reassemble the appliance and use.
STORAGE
Assemble the glass jug for storage completely and correctly to avoid injury from the blade
and loss of parts. Place the glass jar onto the socket of the motor base. In this way, the
sealing ring, the knives and the drive wheel are protected best against dirt and damage.
WARNING: Never place the bottom of the jug or the knives without the glass jar on the
motor base.
Important: Do not let the power cord slide across the floor and make sure that the power
cord does not hang or can be caught.
Store the appliance in a clean and dry place, where it is protected from excessive loads
(impact, shock, dirt, humidity) and inaccessible to small children. Do not place hard or
heavy objects on the appliance. The storage location should be protected from frost and
not be warmer than 40 °C.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The Vital Mixer Basic is reliable and robust and will work smoothly usually when operated
properly. However, should a problem occur, you will able quite easily to eliminate this in
most cases. The following error table is intended to assist.
WARNING: Do not attempt to use this appliance for any other than the intended use,
described in these instructions. Maintenance and repair of the appliance must be performed
only by an authorized service centre. Do not use the appliance when it is probably dama-
ged or is not working as expected.

30
Problem Solution
The motor starts stuttering or is too slow. Turn to the higher speed level. Pour possibly some of the ingredients from the glass jug.
Pound solid ingredients (e.g.: nuts, hard chocolate) outside of the mixer.
The motor stops during operation or can not
be turned on again.
Switch off the appliance immediately (turn the ON/OFF switch to position ›0‹), when
the motor stops unexpectedly or is stuck to prevent overheating. Then, check the
following points:
The motor operates only when the glass jug is properly and fully assembled. Make
sure that the glass jug is properly assembled.
Remove the glass jug from the motor base and clear gently with a wooden or
plastic spoon stuck pieces of food on the blade. Apply no violence not to damage
the blades.
Shred hard ingredients (eg nuts, hard chocolate) outside of the mixer. Remove a part
of the ingredients from the glass jug and then try again with a higher speed level.
ATTENTION: Do not overload the motor of the appliance with too hard or too large
ingredients. Do not over load the glass jug. Process solid ingredients possibly in
several steps. The mixer is not suitable for grating of nuts, chocolate or other hard
ingredients.
The bottom of the glass jug loosens up
during operation; liquid escapes.
Switch off the appliance immediately (turn the ON/OFF switch to position ›0‹) and
unplug the power plug from the outlet. Empty the glass jug immediately. Clean and
dry the motor base. If liquids have been spilled into the air vents at the bottom of the
motor base, and have the appliance checked in a specialised service centre.
Make sure that the glass jug is correct and fully assembled according to the instructions
›Assembling the Glass Jug‹.
TIP: Before filling in the ingredients check the tightness of the mixing jar with some water.
You fail to seal the glass jug; liquid escapes
at the bottom of the glass jar.
Empty the glass jug immediately. Disassemble the glass jug and check the parts for
encrustation or damage (cracks, scratches, cracks, deformation). If necessary, clean
these parts.
Replace damaged parts with original spare parts from the manufacturer. Assemble the
glass jug according to the instructions.
ATTENTION: Never operate the appliance with unsuitable or damaged parts. Use only
parts that are intended and approved by the manufacturer for this purpose. To do so,
contact your dealer.
The appliance does not turn on. Check if the glass jug is properly assembled. If the security ring has been applied in the
wrong direction, the appliance cannot be switched on. When the glass jug is assembled
correctly, it engages easily onto the motor base.
