4.Installation
1. Connecttheconsolemonitorto the switchfirstandpoweriton.
2. Connectthe mouseandkeyboardto the switch.
3. Connecttheaudiospeakerstoconsoleaudiooutonthe frontpanel.
4. ConnecttheAC-DCadaptor(9V300mA) to theswitchpowerjackandinsertadaptorto
theAC mains,if necessary1.
5.Connectthe computers(keyboard,mouse,VGA,audioconnectors) to theswitchby
cablesandturnthemon.
6. ConnectCAS-441-PMtoSiS-PM-841withCat5cablewithstraight-throughpinout.

5.Operation
Computerbootingup
Beforebootingupthe computerkeyboardandmousemustbeconnectedto the
VKMAswitch.Whencomputerisconnectedto theVKMAswitch,the "Link/Event"LEDof
thecorresponding channellights.Note,thatatsomenon-ATXcomputersthisLED will not
lightuntil thecomputerispoweredon.Onboot upstagetheVKMAswitchemulatesthe
keyboardandthe mouse,soatthe sametimeyoucanworkonthe anotherchannel,which
isselected asanactive.Onthisstage"Active/Scan"redLEDontheemulated channelmay
blink fast,meaning thatthecomputerinitializesPS/2keyboardandmouse.
Computerselection
Onlyaftercomputerhasbootedup,youcanselectthecorrespondingchannelasan
active channel.Youcandoitasbypushing:
•thechannelpushbuttononthefrontpanelofthe VKMAswitch.
•usingHotKeycombination(seetheappendix2).The"Active/Scan"redLED
indicateswhichchannelisanactive.Onselectiona shortbeepsounds,if turnedon.Beep
canbe turned on/off byHot Keycombination.
Computerandconsole equipment replacement1
Ifcomputershavealreadybeenbootedupwithmouseandkeyboardconnected,you
canconnectand disconnectcomputersto the VKMAswitchwhile the switchoperateswith
othercomputers.Itdoesnot interrupttheirwork.When mouse jumpsonthescreenafter
selecting a computer,unplug the mouse andplug itback.Youcanplug andunplug mouse

andkeyboard withoutneed toresettheVKMAswitchand rebootcomputersconnected.
Note:1.Forfull supportofcomputerHotPlugging,keyboardand mousePlug'n'Play
featuresuse latestmousedriversorMicrosoftmousedrivers.
AutoScanmode
InAutoScanmodetheVKMAswitchwill reselectchannelsinloopautomatically
withoutsoundbeep.Onlychannelswithcomputersconnectedarescanned.Duringthis
process"Active/Scan"redLEDblinksslowly oncurrentchannelselected.Youcanactivate
thismode bypushing:
•anytwochannelpushbuttonsonthe frontpanelsimultaneously.
•HotKeycombination(seetheAppendix2).Scantime intervalbetweenselections
canbesetas4, 10 or30sec,andequals4secbydefault. Totoggle between intervalsin
loopyouhavetorepeatHot Keycombinationorholdpushbuttonspressedonthefront
panel.BlinkingLEDsonthekeyboardwill indicatescanintervalinthismode(seethe
Appendix 1).ToleaveAutoScanmodeitissufficientlytopress "Esc"keyonthekeyboard
oranypushbuttononthe VKMAswitchfrontpanel.Whentheswitchisinthe AutoScan
mode,computersmaygotothe suspendmodeif suspendmodeblockageoptionisturned
off.When suspendmodeblockageoptionisturnedon,thentheVKMAswitchprevents
computersfromgoingto suspendmodeandtostartscreensavers.Thisoptionisturnedon
bydefault.

Soundevent notificationandtranslation
Youcanbeinformedaboutandhearsoundevents,whichappearonnon-active
channels.Itcanbeusefulforvariouspurposes,suchasworkingatonecomputerand
listeningaudioapplications,runningonanothercomputersimultaneously,ornotification
aboutprocesscompetitiononnon-activecomputer:softwareerrors,e-mail arriving,etc.
When soundeventonnon-activechannelwill occur,"Link/Event"LEDwill blinkfor5
secondsif the soundeventlatchingoptionison.Ifthe soundeventlatchingoptionison,
then"Link/Event"LEDwill blinkaftereventtill thischannelwill have beenselectedasan
active.Thesoundeventlatchingoptionisonbydefault.Totoggleon/off soundevent
latchingpress Hot Key(seethe Appendix2).
Youcanalsolisten soundsonnon-activechannels,settingonthesoundevent
translationoption.The soundeventtranslationisonbydefault, soyoucanhearonlythe
soundoftheactive channel.Totoggleon/off soundeventtranslationfromallcomputersto
consolespeakerspress Hot Key(seethe Appendix 2).
Thesoundeventlatchesandtranslateswhenthe soundreachesadefinitevolume
level.Thislevelmustbetunedatvolumecontrolpaneloneachcomputerindividually.
Controllingpowersockets(CAS-441-PMonly)
FoursocketsofSiS-PM-841canbecontrolledbyusinghotkeysofCAS-441-PM.User
canreadthestatus(voltagepresent)ofeachcontrolledsocket.Thisfeatureletscontrol
powersupplyofconnectedequipment(computers,servers,monitors,lamps,etc.)through
theKVMswitch.CAS-441-PMshouldbeconnectedtoSiS-PM-841withCat-5cable
(maximumlengthofCat-5cable should benomore than15m).
Hotkeyassignmentisshown inHotkey combinationtable.Statusofthesocket

(voltage present)isindicatedbybeepwhentheneededhotkey ispressed.Longbeep
means"voltagepresent",shortbeepmeans"voltageabsent".
WARNINGS:
1. Makesureall thecomputerswhichwere turnedonhavecompletedtheirboot upbefore
switchingbetweenthem.
2. Ifthecomputerisswitched off waitfor5secondsbeforeturning itonagain.
3. Itmightbe possiblethatthe4-5 buttonmicewouldnotworkproperlyunderWindows®
95 andNT®4.0. Inthiscase youshould install the latestversionsofthe mousedrivers.
4. Forbestvideoqualityatdistancesmorethan5feetlongusingofhighqualityvideo
cablesisstronglyrecommended.

aredesigned to provide reasonableprotectionagainstsuchinterference whenoperated in
acommercialenvironment. Operationofthisequipmentinaresidentialareaislikelyto
causeinterferenceinwhichcasethe userathisownexpensewill berequiredto take
whatevermeasuresmayberequiredtocorrectthe interference.
