Genelec 5041A User manual

The Genelec 5041A is a dedicated
Active In-Wall subwoofer designed to
complement Genelec AIW25 Active In-
Wall loudspeakers and AIC25 Active In-
Ceiling loudspeakers. When the 5041A
is installed, all that can be seen of it is a
discreet little metal grille on the wall, but
its powerful and dynamic bass response
will leave no doubt about the presence of
a high quality subwoofer.
The 5041A extends
the system’s bass
response down to 35 Hz
with an upper cut-
off frequency of 95 Hz.
The 5041A has two 6.5” loudspeaker
drivers in a very slim (depth 82 mm /
31/4”) MDF enclosure and a separate 4U
RAM3 amplifier unit that can be installed
in the equipment rack using the optional
RM2 rack adapter. The RAM3 shares the
same dimensions as the RAM2 amplifier
that powers the AIW25 and AIC25 models
so one RM2 can take up to eight of these
amplifiers.
The audio connectors on the RAM3
amplifier include parallel XLR and RCA
input connectors and an XLR Link Out
connector for daisy-chaining multiple sub-
woofers together.
Adjustable input sensitivity provides
easy connection to all types of decoders.
Bass roll-off rate and crossover phase can
also be adjusted to suit different acousti-
cal environments and subwoofer position-
ing. Amplifier power switching can be set
to manual, automatic signal sensing or
remote controlled by a 12 V trigger volt-
age.
The 5041A packs a respectable punch
of 105 dB maximum SPL. If more sound
pressure is needed, coupling multiple sub-
woofers together using the Link Out chan-
nel gives an added 6 dB for a system of
two, 9.5 dB for three and 12 dB for four
subwoofers.
The 5041A subwoofer enclosure mount-
ing system uses adjustable brackets and
rubber springs to isolate the enclosure
from the wall structure. Thanks to this flex-
ible mounting, no vibration is transmitted
to the sheetrock or other parts of the wall
even at high playback levels.
A stealthy combination of one 5041A
and five AIW25’s can create a wonder-
fully dynamic and detailed soundstage for
small listening rooms. Contact your local
Genelec dealer for an audition and see
Genelec’s Home Theater website www.
genelec-ht.com for more information on
Genelec’s Home Theater loudspeaker
line.
