Gerber P2C™ Plotters Site Requirements
Dear Gerber P2C Plotter Customer,
Thank you for purchasing a Gerber P2C 600, 1200, or 1600 plotter.
The information in this document is extremely important because it specifies the requirements
your facility must meet in order to properly install the Gerber P2C plotter. It is also important
that you complete the Site Preparation Checklist (the last page of this document) and return it to
Gerber Service so that they can schedule the installation of your Gerber P2C plotter. Please
carefully review the information in this document and checklist so that when your Gerber P2C
plotter arrives, the installation will go smoothly and you can start printing jobs quickly and
efficiently. You must review and complete the following items described in this document to
prepareyoursitefortheGerberP2Cplotter:
♦Computer requirements
♦Connection requirements
♦Customer-supplied requirements
♦Power requirements
♦Work area requirements
♦Environmental requirements
♦Shipping weight and clearance requirements

♦Complete and return the Site Preparation Checklist
!Computer requirements
You can output jobs to the Gerber P2C plotters using GERBER OMEGA or other compatible
graphics software.
These requirements are minimums for OMEGA CP or CS; for best results, Gerber recommends
you to use the largest hard disk and most RAM possible. System operations such as redraw and
rendering speeds improve significantly as the computer hardware exceeds the minimum
requirements listed below. More free space allows you to work with larger image files and gives
more room to store existing jobs. Faster computers and more RAM can save significant time
during the day as you use GERBER OMEGA.
The Gerber P2C plotters can be connected to your computer using USB, serial, or parallel (P2C
1600 only) cables/ports. Depending on your chosen configuration, your computer requirements
for the number of available ports may differ. See “Connection requirements” on page 2 for
detailed information.

!Environmental requirements
The room in which the Gerber P2C plotter is installed should be relatively clean −thetypeof
environment in which you could paint −without the dust and dirt created by routing or

Gerber recommends setting up in an air-conditioned environment in order to maintain constant
temperature and humidity. Be sure to allow the equipment and material to reach and remain at
room temperature for 24 hours before cutting. The ambient environment should meet the
following conditions:

You must have enough room to maneuver the packed Gerber P2C plotter to its final location
where you can unpack and assemble it. Corridor and doorway clearance requires a minimum of
30" (76.2 cm). Because of the weight of the Gerber P2C 1600, it must be moved using a pallet jack
or forklift, which may require additional clearance requirements. Alternately, you can assemble
the Gerber P2C 1200 or 1600 and then wheel it to its final location.
When unpacked, the Gerber P2C 1200 or 1600 can be moved easily on its wheels by several
people. Corridor and doorway clearance must be a minimum of 30" (76.2 cm). Please measure
the corridor and doorway clearances. If the clearances are less than 30" (76.2 cm) or you plan on
placing the Gerber P2C 1200 or 1600 plotter on a different floor than where it will be delivered,
you may need a professional rigger to provide assistance with the equipment. Please call
Gerber Service prior to delivery to alert them of any special circumstances.
!Receiving and unloading the Gerber P2C plotters
When you complete and return the Site Preparation Checklist (located at the end of this
document), Gerber Service will verify the information.
When the Gerber P2C plotter arrives at your facility, it is your responsibility to take it off the
truck. If you receiving a Gerber P2C 1600 and do not have a loading dock, you will need a
forklift capable of lifting 220 lbs. (100 kg). If you have a loading dock, you can remove the
Gerber P2C boxes from the truck using either a forklift or a pallet jack. If there is no forklift or
loading dock, please request lift gate delivery service when placing your order.
You must have a doorway opening of at least 30" (76.2 cm) to bring the packaged Gerber P2C
plotter into your facility. Do not leave it outside exposed to the elements.
Within several days after the arrival of the Gerber P2C plotter, an installer will install it. The
installer (with your assistance) will unpack the printer, roll it to the operating location, plug it
in, and connect it to your computer. The installer will also demonstrate how to load material
and verify that the Gerber P2C plotter cuts properly.

5
!Inspecting the shipment for damage
The Gerber P2C plotter is shipped EXW or CPT, Boston, MA, USA, and you are responsible for
obtaining insurance against any damage that may occur after it leaves our dock. Since the
installer is familiar with the Gerber P2C and will unpack and install it for you, they will help
you by checking for visible and concealed damage.
If the packaging shows visible evidence of damage when you first remove it from the truck, list
and describe the damage on the delivery receipt and have it co-signed by the driver. Describe
the damage in as much detail as possible. Immediately contact Gerber Customer Service
(800-222-7446) and describe the damage.
Concealed damage is the most difficult type of claim to collect from the carrier and normally
cannot be determined until the unpacking and installation sequence. The burden of proof is on
you to prove the shipment suffered damage while in the carrier’s possession. If the carrier holds
a clear delivery receipt with no notation describing the damage and the shipment remains in
your possession a long time, it may be more difficult to collect from the carrier. Time is of the
utmost importance.
As the installer unpacks the Gerber P2C plotter, they will inspect everything for damage. If the
installer discovers damage, they will stop unpacking and do nothing further to disturb the
shipment. The installer will save all packaging and leave the damaged equipment exactly where
it is, if possible. You should take photographs, if possible. You must telephone the carrier
immediately and request an inspection when you report the damage. Make sure you write
down the name of the person you talk to and immediately confirm the telephone conversation
with a letter to that person. If the carrier does not make the inspection or waives inspection, you
(and your distributor or installer, if available) should make the inspection and record all
information to the best of your ability. All reports of concealed damage must be received by the
carrier within 15 working days.

Remember −if you do not have the proper computer configuration, electrical power, clearance,

installation. In addition, if the Gerber P2C 1200 or 1600 is to be installed on a different floor,
please call Gerber Service prior to delivery to alert them of your special circumstances.
