PROBES AN D M EASUREM EN TS
The inst rum ent m easures absolute, relat iv e and different ial pressure using t he PP471
SI CRAM m odule and t he TP704 and TP705 series probes. I t also m easures the
t em perat ure with a Pt 100 sensor wit h SI CRAM m odule or wit h direct 4 w ire Pt 100
probes.
The SI CRAM m odule acts as an interface bet ween the sensor on t he probe and t he
inst rum ent . There is a m icroprocessor circuit wit h a perm anent m em ory inside t he
m odule t hat enables t he inst rum ent t o recognize t he type of probe connect ed and to
read it s calibr at ion infor m at ion.
The probes are detected during turn on, and t h is cannot be perfor m ed w hen
the inst rum en t is already on, t herefore if a probe is connect ed and the
instrum ent is on, it is necessa ry t o t ur n it off and on .
The probes fit t ed wit h SI CRAM m odule are calibrat ed in t he fact ory; no calibrat ion is
required by the user.
PP4 7 1 MODULE FOR PRESSURE M EASUREM EN T
The PP471 m odule act s as an interface between t he TP704 and TP705 series Delt a
OHM probes and t he inst rum ent. The TP7 0 4 series pressure probes have a 1/ 4" BSP
t hreaded m ale connect ion, and m ust be screwed into the syst em using t he necessary
sealing gasket s. The TP7 0 5 series hav e t w o Ø5 connect ions w her e t he suit able t ubes
ar e insert ed in order t o perform t he desir ed m easurem ent.
Ca u t ion ! Please pay careful at tent ion t o t he j oint pressure sealing; use suit able
gask et s and j oint s. The t hreaded connect ion is prot ect ed by a plast ic cap. Put it back
after use as it prot ect s the pressure cell from foreign bodies.
I MPORTAN T! En sure t h e pr obe's bot t om scale is h igher t h a n t h e pr essu re t hat
w ill be m easur e d. I n case this value is unknow n, start by using h igher-
ca pacit y prob es.
For eve r y pre ssure pr obe a range of overload pressure and a bur st pressu r e
are declared: pressur es in t he range of overload pr essu r e don’t ca use t h e
break of t h e sensor but t he decla r ed accuracy ca n be over com e. Pr e ssure over
the stat e d bu r st pressu r e m a y break the sensor. The applicat ion of h igher
pr essures t han t he overload pr e ssure lim it , although low er t han t he bu r st
pressure, m ay produ ce perm anent dam age t o t h e probe ( e.g. offset sh ift ) .

Upon t urning on t he inst rum ent aut om at ically det ect s t he PP471 m odule. The probe's
t ype ( absolut e, r elat iv e or differ ential) and bot t om scale value are det ect ed even
when the inst rum ent is on (see chapt er 3).
To change t he inst antaneous or peak value unit of m easurem ent , press UNI T. The
following unit s of m easurem ent are available:
Pa, hPa, kPa, m bar, bar, at m , m mHg, m m H2O, kgf/ cm 2, PSI , inchHg, inchH2O.
Som e unit s of m easurem ent require a degr ee of m ult iplicat ion:
•the "-3" sym bol indicates the displayed value m ust be div ided by 1,000;
•the "3" and "6" sym bols indicate t he displayed value m ust be m ult iplied
respect ively by 1,000 or by 1,000,000.
The inst rum ent does not aut om at ically det ect t he probes which are not fit t ed w it h
SI CRAM m odule.
