Expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollow
someprecautionswheneveryou workon yourcomputer.
1.Turnoff yourcomputerand unplug powersupply.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do not
haveone,touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject,
suchasthe powersupplycase.
3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
The cardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcan be easilydamaged by
staticelectricity,sothe cardshouldbe left initsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.
Unpacking and installation shouldbe done on agrounded anti-staticmat. The operator
shouldbe wearing an anti-staticwristband,grounded atthe samepointasthe anti-
staticmat.
Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handling maycausedamage
toyourcard.Besurethereareno shipping and handling damageson the cardbefore
proceeding.

THECARD.
Inordertoensureyourgraphics cardworking correctly,please use official
GigabyteBIOSonly.Use noneofficialGigabyteBIOSmightcause problem

2.2.HardwareInstallation
Installing YourGraphics card.
Nowthatyou haveprepared yourcomputer,you arereadytoinstall yourgraphics
acceleratorcard.
To install yourgraphics acceleratorcard:
1.Poweroff the computerand monitor,then
disconnectthe displaycablefromthe back
ofyourcomputer.
2.Removethe computercover.If necessary,
consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelp
inremoving the cover.
3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfrom
yourcomputer.
Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-board
graphics capability,you mayneed to
disableiton the motherboard.Formore
information,see you computer
documentation.

4.Locatethe PCIExpress x16 slot. If
necessary,removethe metalcoverfrom
thisslot; then align yourgraphics cardwith
the PCIExpress x16 slot, and press itin
firmlyuntil the cardisfullyseated.
5.Replacethe screwtofasten the cardin
place,and replacethe computercover.
6.Plug the displaycableintoyourcard;then
turnon the computerand monitor.If your
graphics cardcamewithaDVIconnector,
you can connectaflatpaneldisplaytothe
appropriateconnector,asshownbelow...
You arenowreadytoproceed withthe installation ofthe graphics carddrivers.Please

Inthismanual, weassumethatyourCD-ROMDrive lettertobeDrive D:
The installation ofWin®2000 /Win®XP driversisverysimple.When you insertthe driver
CD intoyourCD-ROMdrive,you can see the AUTORUN window(ifitdoesnotshowup,
run "D:\setup.exe").Then you can followthe guidestosetup yourgraphics carddriver.
(Pleasefollowthe subsection 3.1.3"Driverinstallation"toinstall the driverforyourgraphics
accelerator.)
3.1.Win®XP Driverand Utilities Installation
3.1.1.Operating SystemRequirement
•When loading the graphics carddriversforthe system,pleasemakesureyour
systemhasinstalled DirectX9orlaterversion.
•If you install the graphics carddriversforthe motherboard,whichconsistofSIS,or
VIAchipsets,pleaseinstall the appropriatedriverprogramforthatmotherboard.
Orpleasecontactyourmotherboardnearestdealerformotherboarddriver.

Install Microsoft DirectXtoenable3Dhardwareacceleration supportforWindows®2000
orWindows®XP toachievebetter3Dperformence.
MNote:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWindows®2000 orWindows®XP,you must
install DirectXfirst.
Step 2.ChooseIaccepttheagreementand
Click "Next"button.
Step 3.Click "Next"button.
Installing the components.Step 4.Click "Finish"torestartcomputer.
Then the DirectX9installation iscompleted.
Step 1.When autorun windowshowup,click
Install DirectX9item.
Click "Install DirectX9"item.

Afterthe graphics cardisinserted intoyourcomputeratthe firsttime,the windowswill
automaticallydetectanewhardwareinthe systemand pop outa"NewHardwareFound"
message.The following isthe step-by-step installation guide.
Step1:Found newhardwarewizard:Videocontroller(VGACompatible)
Click "Next"button toinstall the driver.(Thereis
adriverCD disk thatcamewithyourgraphics
accelerator,pleaseinsertitnow.)
Orclick the "Cancel"button toinstall the driver
fromAUTORUN window.
Step2:Found newhardwarewizard:Searching and installing
The wizardwill searchforthe driverand install itautomatically.
Step3:Found newhardwarewizard:Finish
Click the "Finish"button tofinishthe installation.

statusarea.Right-clicking thisicon opensthe GBTcontrolpanel,showing amenu
composed ofshortcuteofthe graphics card'senhanced and otherfunctions.
You mayclick the "DisplayProperties"item,and then click Settings.Click "Advanced"
afterclickng Settings.Click the appropriatetab tochange yourdisplaysettings.
Rightclick the icon.
You can linktoGBTwebsiteforupdated information aboutthe
graphics accelerator,latestdrivers,and otherinformation.

ColorProperties:
TheColorProperties isused toadjustthe colorsettings.It alsoallowsgammacontrol
forvideo playing ofthe Video Overlay.The colorsettingsaffectall displaydevicesmapped
tothe view.You can change red,green,and blue displaycolors.SetDesktop and Video
Overlaybrightness (gamma)levelscan alsobe changed.
nDesktop increasesordecreasesthe colorbrightness of
yourdesktop.The higherthe gammavalue,the higher
the brightness and contrastofyourdisplay.
nAll Colorscheckboxadjustthe RGBindividuallyorad-
justall three colorsatthe sametime.
nGamma/Brightness/Contrastadjustthe colorbymov-

ablesthe ATItaskbaricon.However,thisfeaturemust
be enabled forATIhotkeysupport.
nShowATIicon on taskbaraddsorremovesthe ATIicon fromthe taskbar.
nDisablequick resolution featureisaccessiblebyleft-clicking the ATIicon inthe taskbar.
nReduce DVIfrequency on high-resolution displays Resolvesdisplaycorruption orno im-
age athigh resolutions(forexample1280x1024 @75Hz)using adigitalDVIdisplay.(Thisset-
ting hasno effectwhen using aDVI-to-VGAadapter.)
nAlternateDVIoperationalmodeUsethisoption ifyou areexperiencing displaycorruption on
yourDVIflatpanel.
Rotation:
Usethe Rotation tab torotatethe image on yourdisplayup to180 degrees.Thisfeature
isusefulwhen using aflatpaneldisplaythatcan be physicallyrotated todifferentpositions.
