maintenanceandcontrolisnecessaryfor
optimumsafeperformanceovertime.Inthis
manual,equipment,function,operation,and
checkingprocedureswillbedescribedas
follows:
PREPARATIONFOR
STARTING
CleanBasin
Openthedrainatthebottomofthewater
basinanddrain.Removedirtanddebrisand
clearsuctionholesatbaseofpumpandbasin
withpoolwaterorhoseasneeded.Closethe
drainforstartofoperation.
CleanFanGuard
Cleanleaves,pineneedles,andanyotherdebris
fromthetopofthecooleronoraroundthefan
guard.
CheckInside
Removehandholecoverandinspectinteriorof
cooler.RemoveanydebrisfromtopofPVC
fillingbyreachingthroughthehandholecover.
ALWAYSMAKESURECOOLERISCOMPLETELY
TURNEDOFFBEFOREREACHINGINSIDETHE
UNIT!NEVERPLACEHANDINSIDEUNITWHEN
FANMOTORISON!

Turnpoolpumpon.
Opencentervalvetothetwoo’clockposition.
Thisistheinputlinetothepoolcooler.(Installer
shouldhavelinemarked)
Lookthroughhandholecover.Sprinklerheads
shouldbeturningata“moderate”speed.
Ifsprinklerheadsaren’tturning,slightlyopen
centervalvemore.Ifsprinklerheadsaremoving
toofast,closevalvemore.(Ifwaterissplashing
throughthetopoffanguarditistoofast.)
Waitapprox.30secondswhilebasinfillswith
water.
Openrightvalvetothetwoo’clockposition.
Thisistheoutputlinebacktothepool.(Installer
shouldmarkvalve)
Turnfanswitchtotheonpositionintheswitch
box.
TURNINGTHECOOLER
OFF
TurnthefanswitchtotheOFFposition
Closethecenterandrightvalvesandopenthe
maindrainvalveandleaveopenuntilnextuse.
THECOOLERSHOULDBELEFTINTHISPOSITION

CAUTIONSDURING
OPERATION
Keephandsandforeignobjectsawayfromfan
motorandassemblyatalltimes.
Sincethecoolingperformancewillbeaffected
bythevolumeofthecirculatingwater,besure
tomaintaintheregulationofwaterflowatall
times.
Keeptheinteriorofthecooleralwayscleanand
takecarethatnoscale,calcium,salt,ordebris
accumulates.
Whenthelevelofthewaterinthebasindrops,
airissuckedinandcavitationmaydevelop;
therefore,itisnecessarytokeepthewaterat
theproperlevelatalltimes.Itisimportantto
notethatthewaterlevelshouldriseandfall
withthepumpoperation.Donottrytobalance
thewaterlevelasdoingsowilleventuallyresult
inthebasinbeingsuckeddryandWILLNOT
ALLOWWATERTOYOURPOOLPUMP,WHICH
INRESULTCOULDDAMAGETHISPUMP.

1. WHYISTHERESPLATTERCOMINGOUTTHETOPOFMYCOOLER?
Ifthereiswaterdropletssplatteringoutthetopofthecooleryouneedtoslowyoursprinkler
wandsdown.Inordertodothissimplyrestricttheflowofwatercomingintotheunitbyslowly
turningtheballvalvebackontheINline.Thewandsshouldbeturningataslowerof“walking”
rateofspeed.AsaruleofthumbboththeINandOUTvalvesshouldbepositionedataboutthe
2o’clockposition.
2. MYCOOLERONLYDROPPEDMYPOOLDOWNBY5DEGREES.ISTHERESOMETHINGWRONG?
Ifadesirabledropindegreesisnotestablishedwithinan8‐12hourperiod,theremayneedto
besomeuseadjustments.Alwaysmakesurethatthesprinklerwandsareturningatasloweror
“walking”rateofspeed.Itisrecommendedthatthecoolerrunatnightwhenthesunisoffthe

pool.Aninitialdropintemperatureshouldbeexpectedovernight.Ifthesunwarmsthepool
backupbyafternoon,justturnthesystemontokeepyourpoolrefreshing.
3. ISTHEWATERSUPPOSEDTOFILLUPINTHEBASINANDTHENDRAINEVERYFEWMINUTES?
Yes.Thecoolerisdesignedsothatthecoolwatercollectsinthebasinandtheinternalpump
systemkicksonandpushesthewaterbackintoyourpool.Youshouldnevertrytobalancethe
waterflowasthiswilleventuallycausecavitationinyourpoolpressure.
4. ISTHEPOOLCOOLERLOUD?
Thecoolerhasaboutthesamenoiselevelasyourpoolpump.
5. HOWMUCHELECTRICITYDOESTHEPOOLCOOLERUSE?
Ourresidentialmodelsareextremelyenergyefficient.Theyaverage5.5amps(amperage)when
inuse.
6. SHOULDIOVERSIZEMYCOOLERTOGETMORECOOLING?
No.Ourlineofpoolcoolershavebeendesignedtoaccommodatespecificpoolsizesasshown
onthespecs.Youwillnotseeanincreaseincoolingbyputtingalargercooleronasmallerpool.
7. DOTHECOOLERSWORKINHIGHHUMIDITYAREAS?
Yes.GlacierPoolCoolersworkefficientlyinallregions.Allofourresearchanddevelopmentwas
actuallydoneinHouston,TXandtheGulfCoastregion.Ourcoolerstaketheheatfromthe
waterregardlessofhumidityorairtemperature.
8. CANIINSTALLTHECOOLERMYSELF?
Yesyoucan.Youcangetallthepartsatyourlocalhomeimprovementstore.Westrongly
recommendanauthorizedinstallerfromourlistifoneisinyourarea.
9. WHATDOINEEDTODOTOWINTERIZEMYCOOLER?
YoumustkeepyourINandOUTvalvesclosedandyourmaindrainballvalve(thebottomleft
valve)opensothesystemisdrainedandwillstayemptyfromrainwater.Ifwaterstaysinthe
basinovertheoff‐seasonitcouldpotentiallyburnupyourpump.Youmayalsowantto
purchaseacoverortarptokeepanyleavesordebrisoutofthefanareaandbasinespeciallyif
thecoolerisunderoraroundtreesorbushes.Uponstart‐upatthebeginningofthesummer
season,makesuretheunitisclearofdebrisespeciallyaroundthepump.Agoodhosedown
shoulddothetrick.
10. WILLTHEPOOLCOOLERWORKWITHASALTWATERPOOL?
Yes.Ourunitsaremadeofreinforcedfiberglass,withstainlesssteelcomponents.Youcannot
harmtheunitwithsaltresidue,howeverextracaretomaintainthecooleronyoursaltpoolis
necessary.Keepthecoolerhoseddownregularlytoreducesaltbuildupandrusting.
11. HOWDOICONTROLTHETEMPERATUREOFMYPOOL?
Ourresidentialcoolersdonotcomewiththermostatcontrols.Coolingisdeterminedbytherun
timeofyourpoolpump.Ifit’stoocold,cutbackyourhours.Ifit’snotcoolenough,runyour
pumplonger.Nowifyourpoolisautomatedourpoolcoolercanintegrateintoyoursystemand
atemperaturerangecanbesetthroughyourautomatedsystem.
