Please read and observe the follo ing:
• Opening he analyzer door exposes you o line power vol age, if presen , a erminals on TB2 and TB3
inside he enclosure. This may be hazardous. Always remove line power before en ering his area in
he analyzer. However, he analyzer door assembly con ains only low vol age and is comple ely safe
o handle.
• Wiring or repairs should only be performed by qualified personnel and only o an unpowered analyzer.
• Whenever i appears ha analyzer safe y is ques ionable, disable he analyzer o ensure agains any
unin ended opera ion. For example, an unsafe condi ion is likely when:
1) The analyzer appears visibly damaged.
2) The analyzer fails o opera e properly or provide he in ended measuremen s.
3) The analyzer has been s ored for long periods a empera ures above 158°F (70°C).
• This analyzer mus be ins alled by specially rained personnel in accordance wi h relevan local codes
and ins ruc ions con ained in his opera ing ins ruc ion manual. Observe he analyzer’s echnical
specifica ions and inpu ra ings. If one line of he line power mains is no neu ral, use a double-pole
mains swi ch o disconnec he analyzer.

CONDENSED OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
This manual con ains de ails for all opera ing aspec s of he ins rumen . The following con-
densed ins ruc ions are provided o assis you in ge ing he ins rumen s ar ed up and
opera ing as quickly as possible. These condensed instructions only pertain to basic pH
measurement operation using a GLI Differential pH sensor. To measure ORP, use a con-
ven ional combina ion elec rode or use specific fea ures of he ins rumen , refer o he
appropria e sec ions in his manual for ins ruc ions.
A. CONNECTING SENSOR/CONFIGURING SENSOR TYPE AND TEMPERATURE ELEMENT
1. Af er properly moun ing he analyzer (PART TWO, Sec ion 2), connec he GLI Differ-
en ial Technique pH sensor, ma ching wire colors o erminals as indica ed:

2. The analyzer is fac ory-se o use a GLI Differen ial Technique pH sensor. To use a
conven ional combina ion elec rode, you mus change he sensor ype (see PART
THREE, Sec ion 4.2, subheading “SELECT SENSOR Type”).
3. The analyzer is fac ory-se for au oma ic empera ure compensa ion using he NTC 300
ohm empera ure elemen buil in o all GLI Differen ial sensors (excep GLI’s pure wa er
pH sensor sys em 6006P4-2000 which uses a P 1000 RTD). When you wan fixed
MANUAL empera ure compensa ion or if you are using a sensor wi h a differen em-
pera ure elemen , you mus change he empera ure elemen ype (see PART THREE,
Sec ion 4.2, subheading “Selec TEMP ELEMENT Type”).
B. CONNECTING LINE POWER
Important: Follow ins ruc ions in PART TWO, Sec ion 3.7 o connec line power o he analyzer.
C. ADJUSTING DISPLAY CONTRAST

D. CONFIGURING BUFFER TYPE/CALIBRATING THE ANALYZER
The analyzer mus be calibra ed so ha measured values will correspond o ac ual process
values. Before calibra ing for he firs ime, selec he buffer se you in end o use. Then,
calibra e using he recommended “2 POINT BUFFER” me hod which provides he mos ac-
cura e pH measuremen s.
1. The analyzer is fac ory-se for he common 4.00, 7.00, and 10.00 pH buffer se . For
DIN 19267 s andard value buffers you mus change he buffer se (see PART THREE,

NOTE: When using buffers ha are no included in ei her of hese buffer se s, use only
he “2 POINT SAMPLE” me hod for calibra ion. Refer o ha subheading in
PART THREE, Sec ion 5.2 for ins ruc ions.
2. Immerse he sensor in he firs buffer (preferably pH 7). Important: Allo the sensor
and buffer temperatures to equalize. Depending on heir empera ure differences,
his may ake 30 minu es or more.
NOTE: An in-progress calibra ion can always be abor ed by pressing he ESC key.
Af er he “ABORT: YES?” screen appears, do one of he following:

Press ENTER key o abor . Af er “CONFIRM ACTIVE?” screen appears,
press ENTER key again o display he MEASURE screen and re urn he

calibra ion. (Ou pu s can also be ransferred o prese values or allowed o remain ac ive.)
8. Wi h he sensor in he firs buffer and he screen displayed, press
ENTER key o confirm. While he screen is displayed, he analyzer
wai s for he pH and empera ure signals o s abilize, measures he buffer value, and
au oma ically calibra es his poin . Thereaf er, a screen like appears
for 5 seconds o confirm calibra ion of his poin .
NOTE: Any ime he “PLEASE WAIT” screen appears during calibra ion, you can
manually comple e calibra ion of he poin by pressing he ENTER key. How-
ever, his is no recommended because he pH and empera ure signals may
no be fully s abilized, resul ing in a less accura e calibra ion.
9. Af er he screen appears, remove he sensor from he firs buffer,
rinse i wi h clean wa er, and immerse i in he second buffer ( ypically pH 4). Then
press ENTER key o confirm his.
10. While he screen is displayed, he analyzer wai s for he pH and
empera ure signals o s abilize, measures he buffer value, and au oma ically cali-
bra es his poin . Thereaf er, a screen like appears for 5 seconds o
confirm calibra ion of his poin .
11. A “pH SLOPE XX.X mV/pH” screen appears, indica ing a slope value o measure sen-
sor performance. The slope should be 54-62 mV/pH for op imal performance.
12. Press ENTER key o end calibra ion (“2 POINT BUFFER: CONFIRM CAL OK?” screen
appears).
13. Re-ins all he sensor in o he process.
14. Press ENTER key o display he ac ive measuremen reading on he “2 POINT
BUFFER: CONFIRM ACTIVE?” ou pu s a us screen. When he reading corresponds
o he ac ual ypical process value, press ENTER key again o re urn he analog ou -
pu s and relays o heir ac ive s a es (MEASURE screen appears).
This comple es “2 POINT BUFFER” calibra ion. The analyzer is now ready o measure pH.
E. COMPLETING ANALYZER CONFIGURATION
To fur her configure he analyzer o your applica ion requiremen s, use he appropria e
CONFIGURE screens o make selec ions and “key in” values. Refer o PART THREE, Sec-
ion 4 for comple e configura ion de ails.
