PREPARING THE
STINGR DEVELOPMENT KIT FOR OPERATION
The STINGR development board requires 3 AAA batteries in order
to operate. It does NOT use the USB connection to power the
device. You should only use e2lithium batteries. Other batteries
may not be able to provide enough current to the STINGR for
reliable operation during transmit.
In order to configure the
unit for operation, connect
to a computer via the USB
connector (mini USB).

USING THE STINGR SOFTWARE TOOL:
OPENING THE COMMUNICATIONS PORT
Connect STINGR board to computer with USB cable, it should be recognized in
Device Manager as: “Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge”.

Once the port is open,
click the Open Button

you see GPS information.

STAND ALONE OPERATION
USING THE TEST MODES
Test Modes
1. See Users Manual for a description of the test modes.
2. To activate a test mode, select the desired mode using
the dip switches as shown.
3. Press the RESET button to activate the selected mode.

CONNECTING DIRECTLY TO
A NON-USB SERIAL DEVICE
To connect directly to a serial device (3.0 volt TTL) using Terminal Block 1 (TB1):
1. Remove the jumpers from JP5, JP6, JP7, JP8
2. Install the jumpers on JP1, JP2, JP3, JP4
3. Connect the serial interface using TB1
