Circular Saw Safety
WARNING. Before connecting a tool to a power source (mains switch
power point receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure that the voltage supply is the
a power source with a voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to
the motor.
When operating the saw, use safety equipment including safety goggles
or shield, ear protection, dust mask and protective clothing including
safety gloves
disease. Gloves may help to maintain good blood circulation in the
break
holes e.g. diamond or round. Blades that do not match the mounting
hardware of the saw will run eccentrically, causing loss of control
Whenever possible, use a vacuum dust extraction system to control
Power tools must always be held by the insulated gripping surfaces
when performing an operation, ensuring protection if the cutting tool
makes contact with its own cord or hidden wiring. Contact with a ‘live’
wire will make exposed metal parts of the power tool ‘live’ and shock
the operator if the insulated gripping surfaces are not used
Ensure hands are kept away from the cutting area and blade. Keep
one hand on the auxiliary handle or motor housing. If both hands are
holding the tool they cannot be cut by the blade
section of this manual
a full tooth of the blade should be visible below the workpiece
their own weight and bind the saw blade. Supports must be placed
under the panel on both sides, close to the line of cut and near the edge
of the panel
Ensure all supports and power cables are completely clear of the
cutting path
exposure is minimised, avoiding blade binding, or loss of control
For accuracy of cut, and to avoid blade binding, always use a rip fence
or straight edge guide
Be aware that the blade will project from the underside of the workpiece
Do not reach beneath the workpiece where the guard cannot protect
you from the blade
Note the direction of rotation of the motor and the blade
Inspect the workpiece and remove all nails and other embedded objects
prior to starting work
Do not apply any sideways or twisting force to the blade whilst cutting
If a cut does not extend to the edge of the workpiece, or if the blade
binds in the cut, allow the blade to come to a complete stop and lift the
saw out of the workpiece
machine from power
Beware of projected waste. In some situations, waste material may be
projected at speed from the cutting tool. It is the user’s responsibility
to ensure that other people in the work area are protected from the
possibility of projected waste
If you are interrupted when operating the saw, complete the process
and switch off before diverting your attention
The blade bolt and washers were specially designed for your saw. For
optimum performance and safety of operation never use damaged or
Regularly check the operation of the blade guard. If the guard does not
automatically cover the blade, have the saw repaired before use
loosened, tighten where necessary
Do not use this saw to cut logs
When cutting round wood, use clamps that prevent the workpiece from
turning on both sides of the blade
area whilst the machine is running and the saw head is not in the rest
position
rest naturally
Do not store materials or equipment above a machine in such a way
that they could fall into it
Do not lock the movable guard in the open position and always ensure
that it is working properly, freely rotating and returning to completely
cover the blade
Do not use saw blades with dull and worn teeth they can be dangerous
to work with and cause damage to the motor of the tool. Either replace
blade teeth wear they may not be suitable for hard woods but may still
be suitable for soft woods
Do not use saw blades manufactured from high speed steel
When cutting materials especially composite materials the dust may
contain toxic particles so respiratory protection must be worn
