Introduction
Wholesome and nourishing food is important for a healthy lifestyle.
Teppan yaki is an excellent method of preparing healthy food, the
Japanese way. Ingredients are first cut into small pieces and then stir-
fried in very little oil. This way, everything remains fresh, tasty and full of
vitamins. And this is what modern cooking is all about. With your teppan
yaki you will find that wholesome and tasty combine very well.
With the teppan yaki you will be able to quickly prepare light and tasty
meals. Crisp and low in fat as is customary in Japanese cuisine. But
of course this does not mean that you can only use the teppan yaki for
Japanese food. Whether it is just a quick meal for yourself or a dinner
party for your friends and family, the teppan yaki guarantees a fast and
unrivalled culinary adventure.
This manual describes how to make optimum use of your teppan yaki.
In addition to information on operation, you will also find background
information that may be useful
to you when using this product.
Read the manual thorougly before using the appliance, and store
these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
The manual also serves as reference material for service technicians.
Please, therefore, stick the appliance identification card in
the space provided, at the back of the manual. The appliance
identification card contains all the information that the service technician
will need in order to respond appropriately to your needs and questions.

Important matters
The teppan yaki has been fitted with a maximum temperature
limitation. This ensures that the grill plate cannot become too hot.
Yet, as with any appliance, there are a number of matters that you
should pay attention to.
• This teppan yaki has been designed for household use. Only use it
for cooking food.
• When you first heat up the teppan yaki, you may experience a smell
of newness. This is normal. Ventilation will make the smell go away.
• Do not place any plastic objects or objects with a plastic grip on the
grill plate.
• Do not use the grill plate as a carving board. This could damage
your knives and the grill plate.
• Never hit the grill plate with a spatula or the tip of a knife. It could
scratch and damage the plate.
• Do not leave your teppan yaki after switching it on.
• Make sure that your kitchen is adequately ventilated during use.
Keep natural ventilation openings open.
• The bottom side of the teppan yaki becomes hot. Make sure to
leave a gap of at least 5 cm between the bottom side of the teppan
yaki and the underlying surface of the kitchen unit. Therefore, do
not put anything combustible in a drawer that has been fitted directly
underneath the teppan yaki.
• The teppan yaki heats up during use and will remain so for a while
after switching off. Keep young children and pets away from the
teppan yaki during and directly after use.
• Fat and oil are combustible when overheated. Never try to
extinguish burning oil with water. Instead, cover the teppan yaki
immediately with a wet cloth and switch the appliance off.
• Never flambé underneath the extractor hood. The high flames may
cause a fire, even with the extractor hood switched off.
• Never use a pressure cleaner or a steam cleaner to clean the
teppan yaki. This could cause a short circuit.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
• Never let children play with this device. Children are not to be
allowed near the device unsupervised.

USE
Preparation
You operate the teppan yaki with a thermostat knob. With this knob
you can set the temperature. The table below shows you the correct
temperatures for each dish.

Pre-heat the teppan yaki until the desired temperature has been
reached. Put a little vegetable oil on the grill plate before you start frying
the first dish. There is no need to add extra oil.
• The grill plate is perfect for quickly stir-frying vegetables, searing
and braising pieces of meat or fish in a sauce or for a combination
of these two dishes.
• The teppan yaki can also be used as “large fire”, ideal for casseroles.
Use a pan with the same dimensions as the grill surface. Now let it
simmer between 90 °C and 130 °C in a covered pan.

Operation
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise until you reach the desired
temperature. The on/off pilot light and the thermostat light will light up.
The grill plate will now be preheated. When the thermostat light does not
light up anymore, the teppan yaki has reached the correct temperature.
You can now prepare the dish.
Attention!
Make sure to switch off the teppan yaki when you have finished
preparing the dish. Always turn the knob anticlockwise to return to the
zero setting. You cannot reach the zero setting by turning the knob
clockwise.
Attention!
Please remember that it takes some time for the teppan yaki to cool
down after switching off. The residual heat indicator will go out as soon
as the teppan yaki has cooled down.

Daily cleaning
It is advisable to clean the teppan yaki immediately after use. This way
you avoid residue burning into the plate and thus causing stains that
may be difficult to remove.
Daily cleaning is best done with lemon juice and water. Pour this liquid
onto the frying area when it is still quite hot (± 65 °C). The liquid soaks
off the residue so that you can dispose of it in the dripping pan. Keep
the teppan yaki switched on at a lower temperature for a short time.
After the grill plate has cooled down use some kitchen paper to wipe
away the residue and the water. You may then dry the teppan yaki with
kitchen paper or a dry towel.
Stubborn stains
Stubborn marks on a stainless steel grill plate are best removed with a
solution of warm water and washing-up liquid. You can use a cleaning
agent for stainless steel to clean the frame. Always polish in the
direction of the steel structure to avoid shine spots. Never use anything
sharp like steel wool or scourers. These scourers cause scratches in the
brush structure. Scouring and polishing will cause shine spots on the
frying area (this kind of damage is not covered by the warranty).
If the above methods do not help to remove the stains, you can clean
the grill plate with a non-scratch scouring pad, which can be ordered
online at www.hps.nl. Remember to treat the entire area in order to
avoid discolouring. Also, as a follow-up treat the grill plate with a polish
or maintenance agent for stainless steel. Please note that over the
years the surface will slightly discolour.
Never use aggressive abrasives. They leave scratches in which dirt and
lime can accumulate. But if you should use an abrasive anyway, please
polish in the direction of the finish.

Temperature limitation
When the teppan yaki has been switched on, a sensor continuously
monitors the temperature of the parts of the grill plate. If the temperature
gets too high, the power of the grill plate is automatically reduced

Important matters
• This appliance should only be connected up by a registered installer!
• Do not use the teppan yaki if it is damaged.
• Never open the casing of the teppan yaki. This may only be done by
a qualified installer.
• Ensure that the flexes of electrical appliances, e.g. a mixer, do not
touch the hot grill zone.
• Always disconnect the appliance from the electronic power supply
before any repair work is carried out. You do this by unplugging the
appliance, by switching off the fuse(s) or, if you have a permanent
connection, by setting the switch on the power supply lead to zero.
• Do not use a teppan yaki that is broken or contains cracks. Switch
off the appliance immediately, unplug it from the power supply to
avoid any electrical shocks and call the service department.
• The connection must comply with all national and local regulations.
• The appliance must always be earthed.
• The connection cable should hang unobstructed and not run the risk
of being hit by a drawer.
• Ensure that the teppan yaki is built into a flat worktop.
• The walls and the worktop surrounding the appliance should be
heat-resistant to at least 85 °C.
• The warranty does not cover any damage resulting from a wrong
connection, faulty assembly or improper use.
• The cables connecting the teppan yaki to the control box should not
be bent, twisted or pressed down by an object. Ensure that this does
not happen when unpacking and installing the teppan yaki.
Electrical connection
230V - 50Hz - 2500 W
• The electrical connection must comply with national and local
regulations.
• Wall socket and plug must be accessible at all times.
• If you want to make a fixed connection, ensure that a multi-pole
switch with a distance between contacts of 3 mm is installed in the
supply cable.
• Do not use an adapter or an extension lead to connect the device to
the electrical mains. Safe use of the device cannot be guaranteed
with these accessories.

Warning!
This appliance must be earthed.
Installation, maintenance or repairs should only be carried out by
professionals who are authorized by the manufacturer, as failure to do
so will void the warranty.
The device should be disconnected from the mains prior to installation,
maintenance or repairs. The device is only disconnected from the
electric power if:
• the main switch of the electrical wiring/installation in the house is
switched off, or
• the fuse for the electrical wiring/installation in the house has been
completely removed, or
• the plug has been pulled out of the socket.
Faulty parts may only be replaced by original Gorenje+parts. Only those
parts are guaranteed by Gorenje+to meet the safety requirements.
If the connecting cable is damaged, it may only be replaced by the
manufacturer, the manufacturer’s service organisation or equivalently
qualified persons, in order to avoid dangerous situations.
Building in
This teppan yaki can be built into a worktop or kitchen unit.
Attention!
The bottom side of the teppan yaki becomes hot. Make sure to leave a
gap of at least 5 cm between the bottom side of the teppan yaki and the
underlying surface of the kitchen unit. Therefore, do not put anything
combustible in a drawer that has been fitted directly underneath the
teppan yaki.

Cut opening in worktop
• Saw the opening in the worktop. This should be done very
accurately (see building in dimensions).
• If the woodtop is made of treated wood, then coat the sawn surfaces
of the top with sealing varnish, to prevent moisture causing the top
to swell.
Placing the sealing tape
Remove the protective foil from the sealing tape and apply the tape
around the cut-out in the worktop. Make sure that the ends of the
sealing strip fit tightly together.

yaki. Check to see whether that space is available.

Disposal of packaging and appliance
In the manufacturing of this appliance durable materials were used.
Make sure to dispose of this equipment responsibly at the end of its
lifecycle. Ask the authorities for more information regarding this.
The appliance packaging is recyclable. The following may have been
used:
• cardboard;
• polythene film (PE);
• CFC-free polystyrene (PS hard foam).
Dispose of these materials in a responsible manner and in accordance
with government regulations.
As a reminder of the need to dispose of household appliances
separately, the product is marked with the symbol of a crossed-out
wheeled dustbin. This means that at the end of its working life, the
product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to
a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to a
dealer providing this service.
Disposing of a household appliance separately avoids possible
negative consequences for the environment and health deriving from
inappropriate disposal and enables the constituent materials to be
recovered to obtain significant savings in energy and resources.

Einführung
Eine gesunde, vollwertige Ernährung ist besonders wichtig. Die
Zubereitung mit dem aus der japanischen Küche stammenden Teppan
Yaki passt hier ausgezeichnet. Die kleingeschnittenen Zutaten werden
unter ständigem Rühren in sehr wenig Öl gebraten. Alles bleibt frisch
und schmackhaft, wobei auch die Vitamine erhalten bleiben. Genauso,
wie es der modernen Küche entspricht. Mit dem Teppan Yaki werden
Sie feststellen, dass eine gesunde und leckere Ernährung kein
Widerspruch sein muss.
Mit dem Teppan Yaki können Sie in kürzester Zeit ausgesprochen
leckere und leichte Mahlzeiten zubereiten. Knusprig und fettarm, wie es
der japanischen Küche entspricht. Das soll natürlich nicht heißen, dass
Sie mit dem Teppan Yaki nur japanisch kochen können. Ob Sie nun nur
für sich selbst oder für eine größere Gruppe von Gästen kochen, der

Worauf Sie achten müssen
Der Teppan Yaki ist mit einem Übertemperaturschutz ausgestattet.
Dieser sorgt dafür, dass sich die Grillplatte nicht überhitzt.
Wie bei jedem anderen Gerät gibt es jedoch einige Punkte, auf die
Sie achten sollten.
• Dieser Teppan Yaki wurde für den Gebrauch im Haushalt entwickelt.
Verwenden Sie dieses Gerät nur zur Zubereitung von Speisen.
• Wenn der Teppan Yaki zum ersten Mal erhitzt wird, werden Sie den
Geruch nach “Neuem” wahrnehmen. Dies ist normal. Durch Lüften
verschwindet dieser Geruch von selbst.
• Legen Sie keine Kunststoffgegenstände oder Gegenstände mit
Kunststoffgriffen auf die Grillfläche.
• Benutzen Sie die Grillplatte nicht als Schneidefläche. Dadurch
können Sie Ihre Messer und die Grillplatte beschädigen.
• Schlagen Sie niemals mit einem Bratenwender oder einer
Messerspitze auf die Grillfläche. Dies kann Kratzer oder
Beschädigungen verursachen.
• Bleiben Sie stets in der Nähe des Geräts, sobald Sie das Gerät
eingeschaltet haben.
• Sorgen Sie in Ihrer Küche während der Verwendung des Geräts für
eine ausreichende Lüftung. Sorgen Sie dafür, dass alle natürlichen
Lüftungsöffnungen offen sind.
• Die Unterseite des Teppan Yaki wird heiß. Sorgen Sie für
mindestens 5 cm Abstand zwischen der Unterseite des Teppan Yaki
und der darunterliegenden Platte des Küchenschranks. Legen Sie
keine brennbaren Gegenstände in die Schublade, die sich direkt
unterhalb der Grillplatte befindet.
• Der Teppan Yaki erhitzt sich während der Nutzung und bleibt auch
nach dem Ausschalten noch einige Zeit heiß. Halten Sie während
und kurz nach dem Gebrauch der Grillplatte kleine Kinder und
Haustiere vom Gerät fern.
• Fette und Öle sind bei Überhitzung leicht entflammbar. Wenn Öl
Feuer fängt, löschen Sie die Flammen niemals mit Wasser. Decken
Sie den Teppan Yaki unverzüglich mit einem nassen Tuch ab, und
schalten Sie das Gerät aus.
• Flambieren Sie niemals unter der Dunstabzugshaube. Die hohen
Flammen können auch bei ausgeschalteter Dunstabzugshaube
einen Brand verursachen.
• Verwenden Sie für die Reinigung des Teppan Yaki niemals einen
Hochdruck- oder Dampfstrahlgerät. Dies kann einen Kurzschluss
auslösen

BEDIENUNG
• Das Gerät ist nicht zur Verwendung durch hilfsbedürftige Personen,
Kleinkinder oder Personen ohne entsprechende Erfahrung/
Kenntnisse geeignet. Solche Personen müssen beim Gebrauch
des Geräts kompetent beaufsichtigt werden oder von der für ihre
Sicherheit verantwortlichen Person in der sicheren Bedienung des
Geräts unterwiesen werden.
• Lassen Sie Kinder auf keinen Fall mit dem Gerät spielen. Kinder
dürfen sich nicht unbeaufsichtigt in der Nähe des Gerätes aufhalten.
Vorbereitung
Die Bedienung des Teppan Yaki erfolgt mit Hilfe eines Thermostatkne-
bels. Mit diesem Knebel wird die Temperatur eingestellt. In der unten
stehenden Tabelle können Sie sehen, welche Temperatur für welche
Speise geeignet ist.

Heizen Sie den Teppan Yaki vor, bis die gewünschte Temperatur erreicht
ist. Fetten Sie die Grillplatte vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme dünn mit
(pflanzlichem) Öl ein. Danach ist kein Öl mehr notwendig.
• Die Grillplatte eignet sich besonders für das schnelle Braten von
Gemüse sowie das Anbraten und Schmoren von Fleisch und Fisch
in Soße oder für eine Kombination der oben genannten Gerichte.
• Der Teppan Yaki kann ebenfalls als “große Flamme” verwendet
werden, ideal für Eintöpfe. Verwenden Sie einen Kochtopf mit
denselben Maßen wie die Grilloberfläche. Dann bei 90° C bis 130° C
mit dem Deckel auf dem Topf weiterkochen lassen.

Bedienung
Drehen Sie den Thermostatknebel nach rechts auf die gewünschte
Temperatur. Die An-/Aus-Indikatorlämpchen und die Thermostatleuchte
leuchten auf. Die Grillplatte wird jetzt vorgewärmt. Wenn die
Thermostatleuchte erlischt, hat der Teppan Yaki die eingestellte
Temperatur erreicht. Sie können jetzt die Speise zubereiten.
Achtung!
Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie den Teppan Yaki ausschalten, wenn Sie
mit der Zubereitung der Speise fertig sind. Drehen Sie den Knebel stets
gegen den Uhrzeigersinn in die Nullstellung zurück. Der Knebel kann
durch Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn nicht in die Nullstellung zurückgebracht
werden.
Achtung!
Beachten Sie, dass es nach dem Ausschalten des Teppan Yaki
noch einige Zeit dauert, bis die Grillplatte abgekühlt ist. Das
Indikatorlämpchen der Restwärme erlischt, sobald der Teppan Yaki
abgekühlt ist.
