WARNING
INJECTION HAZARD
Spray from the gun, hose leaks, or ruptured components can inject fluid into your body and cause an
extremely serious injury
, including the need for amputation. Splashing fluid in the eyes or on the skin
can also cause a serious injury .

Fluid injected into the skin might look like just a cut, but it is a serious injury . Get immediate medi -
cal attention.

Do not point the dispensing valve at anyone or at any part of the body .

Do not put hand or fingers over the valve.
 Do not stop or deflect fluid leaks with your hand, body , glove, or rag.
 Do not “blow back” fluid; this is not an air spray system.
 Always have the tip guard and the trigger guard on the dispensing valve when dispensing.
 Be sure the valve trigger safety operates before dispensing.
 Lock the valve trigger safety when you stop dispensing.
 Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure on page 12 whenever you: are instructed to relieve pres -
sure; stop spraying; clean, check, or service the equipment; and install or clean the spray tip.
T ighten all the fluid connections before operating the equipment.
 Check the hoses, tubes, and couplings daily . Replace worn, damaged, or loose parts immediately .
Permanently coupled hoses cannot be repaired; replace the entire hose.
TOXIC FLUID HAZARD
Hazardous fluids or toxic fumes can cause a serious injury or death if splashed in the eyes or on the
skin, swallowed, or inhaled.
 Know the specific hazards of the fluid you are using. Read the fluid manufacturer ’ s warnings.
 Store hazardous fluid in an approved container . Dispose of the hazardous fluid according to all
local, state, and national guidelines.
W ear appropriate protective clothing, gloves, eyewear , and respirator .

WARNING
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Improper grounding, poor air ventilation, open flames, or sparks can cause a hazardous condition and
result in fire or explosion and serious injury .

Ground the equipment and the object being dispensed. See Grounding on page 4.
 Provide fresh air ventilation to avoid the buildup of flammable fumes from solvent or the fluid being
dispensed.

Extinguish all the open flames or pilot lights in the dispensing area.
 Electrically disconnect all the equipment in the dispensing area.
 Keep the dispensing area free of debris, including solvent, rags, and gasoline.
 Do not turn on or of f any light switch in the dispensing area while operating or if fumes are present.
 Do not smoke in the dispensing area.
 Do not operate a gasoline engine in the dispensing area.
 If there is any static sparking while using the equipment, stop dispensing immediately . Identify
and correct the problem.
INSTRUCTIONS
EQUIPMENT MISUSE HAZARD
Equipment misuse can cause the equipment to rupture, malfunction, or start unexpectedly and result
in a serious injury .
 This equipment is for professional use only .

Read all the instruction manuals, tags, and labels before operating the equipment.
 Use the equipment only for its intended purpose. If you are uncertain about usage, call your Graco
distributor.

Do not alter or modify this equipment. Use only genuine Graco parts and accessories.
 Check the equipment daily . Repair or replace worn or damaged parts immediately .

Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the lowest rated system component. These
pumps have a 5000 psi (35.0 MPa, 350 bar) maximum working pressure. Model 226–012 has a
8000 psi (56.0 MPa, 560 bar) maximum working pressure.
 Use fluids that are compatible with the equipment wetted parts. See the T echnical Data section of
all the equipment manuals. Read the fluid manufacturer ’ s warnings.
 Route the hoses away from traffic areas, sharp edges, moving parts, and hot surfaces. Do not
expose Graco hoses to temperatures above 180 F (82 C) or below –40 F (–40C).

Do not use the hoses to pull equipment.
W ear hearing protection when operating this equipment.
 Comply with all applicable local, state, and national fire, electrical, and other safety regulations.

General Information
NOTE: Reference numbers and letters in parentheses
in the text refer to the callouts in the figures and the
parts drawing.
NOTE: Always use Genuine Graco Parts and Acces -
sories, available from your Graco distributor .
Grounding
WARNING
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Before operating, ground the system as
explained below . Also read the section
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD on
page 3.
T o reduce the risk of static sparking, ground the pump
and all other components used or located in the spray/
dispensing area. Check your local electrical code for
detailed instructions for your area and type of equip -
ment and be sure to ground all of these components.
 Pump: loosen the grounding lug locknut (W) and
washer (X). Insert one end of a 12 ga (1.2 mm
2)
minimum ground wire (Y) into the slot (Z) in the lug
and tighten the locknut securely . Connect the other
end of the wire to a true earth ground. Order Part
No. 222–01 1, Ground wire and clamp. See Fig 1.
 Air and fluid hoses: use only grounded hoses.
 Air compressor: follow manufacturer ’ s recommen -
dations

Fluid supply container: according to local code.
 T o maintain grounding continuity when flushing or
relieving pressure, always hold a metal part of the
gun firmly to the side of a grounded metal waste
container , then trigger the gun.

Installation
Air Line Accessories
See page 1 1 for recommended air accessories and
installation.
Models 225–773 & 225–827 (Fig. 2)
1. Model 225–773 only: Assemble the truck as shown
in the parts drawing on page 15. Secure the truck
pail (5) to the truck base with the pointed hold
down clamps (3c) and thumbnuts (3d).
All models:
2. Remove the fluid outlet adapter included with the
pump and screw the holster (6) into the pump
outlet, using thread sealant.
3. Remove the cover from the pail of lubricant. Place
the pail of lubricant into the truck pail.
4. Secure the cover (4) on the pail with the three
thumbscrews (A).
5. Insert the pump riser tube through the top of the
cover (4). Lower the pump until it rests on the
cover.
6.
Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (2a), and then
connect the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
7. Connect the nipple (2d) to the pump air inlet.
Connect the quick disconnect coupler (2c) to the
air supply hose.

Model 225–003 (Fig. 3)
1. Assemble the base (3) as shown in the parts
drawing on page 16.
2. Remove the fluid outlet adapter included with the
pump and screw the holster (6) into the pump
outlet, using thread sealant.
3. Place the pail of lubricant on the base.
4. Remove the cover from the pail and scoop the
lubricant from the center to the sides of the pail to
make its surface concave.
5. Center the follow plate (5) in the pail opening.
Press the plate firmly downward and rotate it over
the lubricant surface to eliminate air pockets and
prevent channeling.
6. Place the shield (4) over the pail. Secure the shield
to the base with the clamps (3c) and thumbnuts
(3d).
7.
Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (2a), and then
connect the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
8. Connect the nipple (2d) to the pump air inlet.
Connect the quick disconnect coupler (2c) to the
air supply hose.

Models 225–006 & 225–026 (Fig. 4)
1. For Model 225–026: Assemble the truck (3) as
shown in the parts drawing on page 15.
For Model 225–006: assemble the base (3) as
shown in the parts drawing on page 16.
2. Remove the fluid outlet adapter included with the
pump and screw the holster (6) into the pump
outlet, using thread sealant.
3. Place an opened 120 lb drum of grease on the
mounting base or truck, and secure it with the
hold–down clamps. Use the blunt end clamps (3e)
only with fibre drums ( supplied with Model
225–006 only ). Use the pointed end clamps (3d)
only with steel drums. Position the clamps above
the drum bead. T ighten the thumbscrews (3c).
4. Press the follow plate (5) down firmly onto the
grease and rotate it to eliminate air pockets and
reduce channeling. Insert the pump through the
cover (4) and slide the cover up far enough to let
the pump pass easily through the follow plate
grommet.
5. Secure the cover on the drum with the thumb -
screws. It is not necessary to bolt the pump to the
cover.
6.
Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (2a), and then
connect the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
7. Connect the nipple (2d) to the pump air inlet.
Connect the quick disconnect coupler (2c) to the
air supply hose.

Model 222–069 (Fig. 5)
1. Remove the cover from the pail and scoop the
lubricant from the center to the sides of the pail to
make its surface concave.
2. Center the follow plate (5) in the pail opening.
Press the plate firmly downward and rotate it over
the lubricant surface to eliminate air pockets and
prevent channeling.
3. Place the cover (3a) on the pail, and tighten the
thumbscrews (3f).
4. Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (2a), and then
connect the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
5. Connect the nipple (2d) to the pump air inlet.
Connect the quick disconnect coupler (2c) to the
air supply hose.

Model 222–245 (Fig. 6)
1. Assemble the cart (6) as shown at right. Use only
2 of the 4 brackets (5d) supplied. Install the rear
positions, of the drum shelf (6b) as shown.
2. place an opened 120lb drum of grease on the
drum shelf.
3. Press the follow plate (4) down firmly onto the
grease and rotate it to eliminate any air pockets
and reduce channeling. Insert the pump through
the cover (3) and then slide the cover up far
enough to allow the pump to easily through the
follow plate grommet and into the grease.
4. using items 3a–5d, secure the cover to the drum,
and the drum to the cart. It is not necessary to bolt
the pump to the cover .
5.
Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (3a) and connect
the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
6. Connect the quick disconnect nipple (2d) to the
pump air inlet. Connect the quick disconnect
coupler (2c) to the air supply hose.

Model 226–012 (Fig. 7)
1. Assemble the truck as shown in the Parts Drawing
on page 15.
2. Remove the fluid outlet adapter included with the
pump and screw the holster (6) into the pump
outlet, using thread sealant.
3. Place an opened 50 lb pail of grease on the truck
and secure it with the hold–down clamps.
4. Remove the cover from the pail and scoop the
lubricant from the center to the sides of the pail to
make its surface concave.
5. Center the follow plate (5) in the pail opening.
Press the plate firmly downward and rotate it over
the lubricant surface to eliminate air pockets and
prevent channeling.
6. Assemble the gun (2b) and hose (2a) and then
connect the hose to the pump fluid outlet.
7. Connect the nipple (2d) to the pump air inlet.
Connect the quick disconnect coupler (2c) to the
air supply hose.
