CONTENTS
WARNING: Read instructions thoroughly before using digital thermometer
Do not use thermometer in the ear. Intended use is for oral, rectal, and axillary
(armpit) readings only.
Do not place thermometer near extreme heat - it may explode.
Note: Use of a probe cover may result in a 0.2°F discrepancy from actual temperature.
DIRECTIONS
1. To disinfect thermometer probe, wipe probe with or dip into isopropyl rubbing alcohol to a
maximum of ~ 0.25 inch from tip.
2. Press the On/Off Button next to the LCD. A tone will sound as the screen displays “ ”,
followed by “Lo”. The last recorded temperature will display, then the screen will again
display “Lo”. The thermometer is now in test mode and ready to obtain a temperature
reading.
*Note: Begin taking temperature within 15 seconds after thermometer enters test mode.
3. Position thermometer in desired location (mouth, rectum, or armpit) as directed below.
a) Oral Use: To ensure accuracy, please keep mouth closed for 5 minutes before
testing. Place thermometer under tongue — recommended probe position is
indicated by “ √” shown in Figure 2. Readings are obtained in ~ 60 seconds.
b) Rectal Use: Lubricate silver probe tip with petroleum jelly for easy insertion.
Gently insert probe ~ 1cm (less than 0.5 inch) into rectum. Readings are
obtained in ~ 60 seconds.
c) Axillary (Armpit) Use: Wipe armpit dry. Place probe in armpit and keep arm pressed
firmly at side. Readings are obtained in ~ 90 seconds.
4. The °F sign flashes throughout the testing process. When flashing stops, usually within
30~60 seconds, an alarm beeps for ~ 10 seconds and the measured reading simultaneously
displays.
5. To prolong battery life, press the On/Off Button to turn the unit off after testing is complete.
If no action is taken, the unit will automatically shut off after ~10 minutes.
*Note: Normally the alarm beeps are “Bi-Bi-Bi-Bi”. The alarm will beep more rapidly when
temperature reaches 100°F or higher. When this occurs, the beeps will be
“Bi-Bi-Bi----- Bi-Bi-Bi------- Bi-Bi-Bi”. If room temperature is higher than 90°F
before testing, the LCD will display the actual room temperature instead of “Lo”.
