CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
OpenAccess Door. SlidetheCharcoalTray outfrom
CharcoalTraySupport. PlaceCharcoalineach
CharcoalTray.Donotbuildtoo largeofafire.We
recommendstarting afirewithamaximumof3.5
poundsofcharcoalandaddingmoreas needed
duringcooking. Neverfill charcoal above theupper
level of theTray.
You caneasilyadd charcoaltotheGrill during cooking.
Werecommend you wearflameretardantBBQmittsto
avoidhot surfaces.
You canadjusttheVent Handles tocontroltheflowof
airintoyourgrill.Bycontrolling theflowofair, you can
adjusttheflamelevelinyourgrill.(Ex:Opening the
VentHandles will allowyou tobuildabiggerfire.)
You canuse theCharcoalTrayAdjusting ArmHandles
toadjusttheCharcoalTraytodifferentlevelstocontrol
grilling temperature.
Cleaning ExteriorStainless SteelSurfaces
Weatheringandextremeheatcan causeexterior
stainlesssteelsurfaces toturntan incolor.Machine
oilsusedinthe manufacturingprocess ofstainless
steelcanalsocausethistanningcolor.Beforeinitial
use,and afterremovinganyprotectivePVCfromthe
GrillLid,use aStainlessSteelCleanertopolish the

wirebrush,brassbrush orabrasivecleanersbeause
theywillscratchthestainlesssteelsurfaceofyour

Cleaning TheCooking Grids
Beforeinitialuse,and periodically, washyourCooking
Gridsinamildsoap andwarmwatersolution.You
can useawash clothorvegetablebrushtoclean your
Cooking Grids.Then coatbothsidesoftheCooking
Gridswithalightcoatofvegetableoil.
Cleaning TheGrease/AshTray
Toreduce the chanceoffire,the Grease/Ash Tray
shouldbe visuallyinspectedbeforeeachgrilluse.
Remove anygrease and ash,thenwash Grease/Ash
Traywithamildsoap and warmwatersolution.
Cleaning TheInsideofTheGrill Lid
Greasecan haveatendencytobuildup ontheinside
ofthe Grill Lidandcould drip ontodeckorpatiowhen
thelidisopened.Visuallyinspecttheinsideofthe
Grill Lidandbowlbeforeeachgrilluse.Removeany
greaseandwashwithamildsoapandwarmwater.
Neverusea stiff wirebrush,brass brush,orabrasive
cleanersbecausetheywillscratch thestainless steel
orcauseittorust.
Cleaning ofTheGrill Interior
Frequencyofcleanup isdeterminedbyhowoftenthe
grill isused.However,atleastevery3monthsyou
mustgivetheentiregill athoroughcleaning to
minimize yourriskoffireandkeepthegrill intop

warmwatersolution.Rinsethoroughlyandletdry.

Preparing YourGrill ForInitialUse
Beforecooking onyourgrill forthe firsttime,you
shouldburnoffthegrilltoeliminateanyodoror
foreign matter.Buildasmallfireon the Charcoal
Trays.Close the lidandpositionthe airventsapproxi-
matelyonequarteropen.Thisburnshouldbe
sustainedforatleast30 minutes.Beginincreasing
thetemperaturebyopeningtheairventhalfwayand
addingcharcoalthroughthecharcoalaccess doors.
Yourcharcoalgrillisnowreadyforuse.
CharcoalGrilling
AlwayswearaflameretardantBBQmitt when cooking
onyourgrillorwhen addingcharcoaltothe Charcoal
Trays.Charcoalisrecommended,howeverwoodora
combination ofbothmay be usedasafuelsourcefor
grilling.
RemovetheCooking Gridswhenstarting thefire(see
Using Charcoal).Ignitethecharcoalandallowthefire
toburndownbeforeaddingmorecharcoal.Use flame
retardantBBQmittswhen replacingtheCooking
Grids.
Adjusttheairventstoregulatethetemperature(open
theventstogetahighterflame,andgraduallyclose
theairventstolowertheflame).
AdjusttheheightoftheCharcoalTraysbymoving the
CharcoalTrayAdjustingArmsupordown.
ByadjustingtheheightoftheCharcoalTrays,youcan
controlhowclosetheheatistoyourfood.Placing the
CharcoalTraysatthehighestposition isidealfor
searing.PlacingtheCharcoalTraysatlowerpositions
allowsyoutoroastorsmokeyourfood.
Remove charcoalandfood remnantsfromCharcoal
Trays.CleantheTrayswithafiberpadornylon brush
andwashwithamildsoapandwarmwatersolution.
Rinse thoroughlyandletdry.
