2.1 General safety instructions
These operating instructions were prepared so that you can work safely with the
equipment.
Read these Operating Instructions thoroughly before use. Pay particular attention to the
safety instructions.
These Operating Instructions are intended for people with basic technical understanding
of the use of equipment such as that described here.
If you have no experience with such equipment, you should first get assistance from
experienced persons.
Keep all supplied documents with the equipment for future reference if required. Keep the
purchase receipt for any warranty claims.
If you lend or sell the equipment, supply all documentation with it.
Observe the operating and maintenance instructions found in this manual.
Defective equipment must be repaired promptly in order to minimize the extent of damage
and avoid endangering the safety of the equipment.
The system components may only be used and operated under the conditions laid down
in these operating instructions.
Retrofits, changes or modifications to the equipment are strictly prohibited. They require
consultation with and written approval by the manufacturer.

If during operation (residual) hazards and risks become apparent which are not described
in this manual, the operator is obliged to report this to the manufacturer.
2.2 Specific safety instructions
The equipment may only be used by trained persons. Observe the regulations of the
employer’s liability insurance association for health and safety at work for all activities.
To prevent electric shock, the precautionary measures must be observed when working
with voltages higher than 35 V DC or 16 V rms. AC. According to DIN VDE, these values
represent the limit of the voltages that can still be touched. The values are valid for
agricultural applications.
The equipment may only be touched at the designated handling areas, and the display
elements may not be covered.
Maintenance work that is not described in this documentation may only be carried out by
trained service technicians.
If the equipment is modified or altered, its operational safety is no longer guaranteed.
The earth spike must not be used with the battery compartment open.
When inserting the earth spike, do not touch any live parts.
Check the batteries before use and replace them if necessary.
If batteries are leaking, stop using the equipment until it has been checked by our
customer service.
The battery liquid (electrolyte) is strongly alkaline and electrically conductive. Risk of
burns! If battery fluid comes into contact with skin or clothing, the affected areas must be
rinsed thoroughly with plenty of water immediately. If battery fluid gets into the eyes,
rinse them immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor.
Do not operate the equipment in rooms where there is a risk of explosion.
Do not operate the equipment in an aggressive atmosphere.
Protect the equipment from permanent direct sunlight.
The equipment is used only to indicate the voltage range and is not suitable for
measurement purposes.
Test the functionality of the voltage tester immediately before and after each use. The
voltage tester must not be used if the function of one or more displays on the voltage
tester fails or if the functionality of the equipment cannot be clearly determined.
Failure to observe the following safety instructions can lead to serious
accidents with severe material damage and personal injury!

2.3 Personnel qualifications
Persons using this equipment must be familiar with the 5 safety rules (1 Disconnect, 2 Secure
against reconnection, 3 Check that no voltage is present, 4 Earth and short-circuit, 5 Cover
live adjacent parts) and use the voltage tester in accordance with safe working practices.
Furthermore, be aware of the hazards that may arise when working with electrical equipment
in a humid environment. Take preventive measures to protect against direct contact with live
parts.
3Intended use
The equipment may only be used for DC voltage measurement on pasture fences in the
measuring range from 1,000 to 12,000 V.
Do not use the equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres, in wet conditions or in high
humidity. Unauthorised modifications to the equipment are prohibited.

5Operation
An electric shock can lead to death or serious injury! The
equipment may only be used by instructed persons who observe
all safety instructions.
Electric shock due to insufficient insulation. Always check the
equipment for damage and proper functioning before each use. If
you discover any damage, stop using the equipment.
Do not use the equipment if the equipment or your hands are
damp or wet!
Do not use the equipment if the battery compartment or housing
is open.
Electric shock by touching live parts. Do not touch live parts.
Protect adjacent live parts by covering them or switching them
off.
Before each measurement, test the function of the equipment at
a known voltage source.
5.1 Initial start up
Remove the battery cover.
Insert the battery (1 x 9 V AAA battery) into the battery compartment with the correct
polarity.
Close the battery compartment with the cover removed.
Before each voltage test, check that the equipment functions reliably with a known
voltage source.

5.2 Voltage test
1. Insert the earth spike (4) into the ground.
2. Hold the test probe (1) against the fence wire
3. Press the push button (3) permanently to perform a measurement.
4. Read the measured value on the display (2). e.g. 6.0 = 6,000 V
When taking the measurement, only touch the push-button of the
equipment and never touch the ground spike, the supply cable,
the ground or any part of the electric fence.
Otherwise there is a risk of electrocution with life-threatening
consequences.
A doctor must always be consulted after electrocution.
People with active implants, e.g. pacemakers, etc. should not
carry out the voltage measurement.
Discuss the procedure with your doctor before carrying it out.
If the safety of the user cannot be guaranteed, the equipment
must be switched off and secured against unintentional use.
The fence voltage should be at least 2.0 = 2,000V in order to
ensure the safety of the fence.
For measured values above 12,000 V (12.0)
the display shows “HI”!
6Maintenance and care
The measuring instrument does not require any special maintenance when operated as
intended.
If a malfunction occurs, stop the current measurement immediately and have the equipment
checked by an expert before it is used again.
•Maintenance and repair work may be performed only by qualified personnel.
•Use only original spare and wear parts
•Maintenance, cleaning and troubleshooting work is only permitted when the batteries are
removed and the unit is not live.

•Fasteners must be regularly checked for tightness, and tightened as necessary.
•Clean the equipment with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Make sure that no moisture
penetrates into the housing. Do not use any sprays, solvents, cleaning agents containing
alcohol or abrasive cleaners, but only clear water to moisten the cloth.
Failure to comply with the maintenance instructions may result in
serious personal injury and impaired use.
The use of abrasive cleaning agents or high-pressure cleaners and
water jets may damage the surface of the cabinet and display.
7Storage and transport
Always check the condition of the equipment before storing it and carry out maintenance
work before shutting it down so that your testing equipment is ready for use again quickly.
8Disposal
The separate, environmentally friendly disposal of materials encourages recycling of
materials. Therefore, after expiry of the normal service life, the equipment itself and all related
components, including the packaging, should be disposed of at a recyclables collection point.
Packaging, equipment and accessories are made of recyclable materials and should be
disposed of accordingly.
If the unit is no longer serviceable, make sure it is unusable before disposal.
If you do not have the necessary technical knowledge, hire a
specialist to dismantle and dispose of the unit.
VERLETZUNGSGEFAHR!
!!! Always observe local disposal regulations !!!
