INSTALLATION PLANNING
It's all in the planning!
For proper operation of the toilet you should consider a number of issues during the building design stages to enable the natural composting
processes the best chance to give trouble-free operation.
The design of the site and building needs to allow for:
 The location of the toilet pedestal in the building and the run of flush hose/pipe and any structures that may be affected.
 Water connection to the pedestal
 Location of the control panel and connection via the supplied Ethernet cable to the toilet pedestal
 The location and secure fastening of the vacuum flush unit – ideally beside the composting unit (more about this below)
 Electrical supply to the 24V DC transformer & the compost container ventilation fan
 Run of twin wires from the transformer to the vacuum flush unit and from the transformer to the pedestal
 Run of single signal wire from the vacuum flush unit to the pedestal
 Space for the composting container and a firm, dry and sheltered base for it to sit on
 Adequate access to service, maintain and exchange the composting container
 Good ventilation to provide oxygen and evaporate liquids
 Drainage trench location
The GT 120 and GT 330 Eco Remote Composting System is supplied as a kit containing all of the components required for a typical, basic
installation and can be installed using basic building tools and materials available at plumbing suppliers or hardware shops.
Materials for most installations can be obtained from Green Loo, i.e. extra vacuum hose, fittings etc.
Please note: Installation can be completed by a non-tradesperson – handyman/woman. Electrical wiring is 24V DC and no electrician is
required by law for this. However, if in doubt, please consult electricians, plumber and builder as required.

Installation of the GTs involves:
1. Installing the pedestal (see separate installation guide)
2. Connecting water supply to pedestal
3. Connecting power supply (from the transformer) and signal wire to pedestal
4. Installing flush control panel and connecting Ethernet cable from panel to pedestal
5. Connecting pipe work from pedestal to vacuum flush unit
6. Connecting pipe work from the vacuum flush unit to the composting container
7. Connecting power supply (from the transformer) and signal wire (from the pedestal) to vacuum flush unit
8. Installing the ventilation pipe-work, including fan and vent cowl to composting container
9. Preparing the excess liquids dispersal trench and connecting excess liquids drain
10. Preparing the composting container with pine bark and peat
11. Final checks before use & priming of system.
Space Required
There is no ideal set of measurements which will suit all applications but you do need to provide enough space to locate and install the
composting container, enough space to fit and maintain the air vent piping and fan and enough space to access and exchange the containers,
so allow space to maneuver the bins.

Site Planning
When planning the layout of the site and component parts of the system, a variety of factors should be taken into consideration:
Distance and ‘lift’ of the system:
As shown below, ‘vertical loops’ are additive. In other words, although the system is designed to be able to lift up to 1.8m, if a lift of i.e. 0.6m
(C1) is followed by a drop and then by another lift of 1.2m (C2) – although the overall height difference is less than 1.8m, the cumulative height
is 1.8m and therefore the maximum lift is reached.
Although only shown at the expelling end of the vacuum flush unit, this is applicable for both the suction and expelling connections of the
vacuum flush unit

Avoid Pumping Up
Although the system is capable of pumping up out of the expelling side of the vacuum flush unit, it is preferred that this is avoided.
Speaking plainly, there will be stagnant sewage in the expelling pipe.

Installation:
1. Install the pedestal (see separate installation guide for basic installation instructions).
There are 3 different through floor installation options. The option shown on the right is the one most commonly used.

The option below is for the side-discharge pedestal option

2. Connect water supply to pedestal (keep water turned off until priming the system)

3. Connect power supply (from the transformer) and signal wire to pedestal (keep turned off until initialing the system)
The pedestal is wired for a variety of marine installations and therefore features a variety of connectors which are not relevant to this
installation. There are two plugs – cut the plug with the 4 wires (black/red/green and orange), disregard the orange wire (thread back through
the plastic strap as shown) and connect the 3 terminal electrical joiner as shown.
Connect 24V power supply (from the transformer) to the red/black wires at the Pedestal, and signal wire to the green wire.

4. Install flush control panel and connect Ethernet cable from panel to pedestal

5. Connect pipe work from pedestal to vacuum flush unit
6. Connect pipe work from the vacuum flush unit to the composting container

7. Connect 24V power supply (from the transformer) to the red/black wires at the vacuum flush unit (at the back right of the picture
below), and signal wire (from the pedestal) to vacuum flush unit (see picture below). Connect electrical ‘bridge’ wire to the 2 left contacts.
Safety cap of the flush unit needs to be removed for signal wire connection and bridge. Keep turned off until initialing the system.
