Dear customer,
with this additional module you can use hörbert together with headphones and use it as a loudspeaker e.g. for
streaming content via mobile phone. With a little manual skill, you can do the conversion yourself. Please follow the
steps listed here exactly and make sure not to damage any surrounding parts of your hörbert.
Your work surface should be soft enough not to scratch hörbert; and thick enough not to damage your table when
retooling. Make sure there is enough light to make your work easier.

The conversion consists of 2 parts:
1. Removal of the existing on/off switch
2. Installation of the Bluetooth module instead of the previous switch
You need as a tool:
1x coin
1x string/thread
1x nut spanner or key SW14
1x tweezers, best with curved tip
1x cardboard washer as scratch protection for the nut of the on/off switch (included)
1x Bluetooth module incl. spacer with adhesive strip to peel off (included)
Removal of the existing on/off switch:
1. Open the sliding cover and put it aside. To loosen the screw you can use a coin. Turn the coin to the left to
open the screw.

2. VERY IMPORTANT! Remove all batteries so that you do not accidentally destroy your hearing by a
short circuit (from tools or jewellery). The thread that you run under a battery serves as an aid, in order
to then pull it out. Repeat this for each battery individually.
3. Place the cardboard washer over the existing nut of the on/off switch. It serves as a scratch protection
when loosening the nut. Then use your tool to unscrew the nut counterclockwise.

4. The switch can now be pulled out inwards. By turning it 90 degrees you can get it past hörberts electronics
more easily.
5. Pull the red cable of the switch out of the hörbert electronics. It provides some resistance until the plug clicks
out. Do not tear upwards or downwards, but pull the plug straight out of the socket (in the direction of the
cable).
Tip: Remember where to unplug the cables, because this is where you will later plug in the cables of the
Bluetooth module.

6. Disconnect the blue-white cable of the built-in volume control from the hörbert electronics in the same way.
Leave the volume control screwed into the housing.
7. Now pull out the black-white cable of the built-in loudspeaker from the hörbert electronics in the same way.
Leave the loudspeaker screwed into the housing.
8. Twist the blue-white and the black-white cable by holding the plugs and twisting the slightly tensioned cable
a few times. Then place the cables in the housing so that they are not in your way during installation. The
cables from the Bluetooth module are already twisted at the factory.

Installing the Bluetooth module
The cables of the additional electronics for Bluetooth operation are plugged in in the following steps instead of the
cables that you unplugged earlier.
1. Do not remove the foil from the adhesive point of the spacer yet. You will fix the module to the housing
after wiring.
2. Wipe the wooden surface with a damp cloth so that it is dust-free for the adhesive pad of the spacer. This
step improves the adhesion. Hold the module in your hand so that the on/off switch is facing away from you
(aim at the hole in the hörbert, the small white switches pointing topwards).
Still don't remove the peel-off strip from the spacer's adhesive strip, but first plug in the cables as follows.
Please always be careful and without force. All cables will snap into place very noticeably.
Tip: A bent pair of tweezers is perfect for this.
(1) First insert the cables of the Bluetooth module into the motherboard. This works best when
the "noses" of the plugs point downwards in the direction of the hörbert front and are pre-bent
in the appropriate direction. It is best to start with the blue-white cable and insert it into the
shoe below the on/off switch on the board.
(2) Do the same with the red-white cable that belongs in the opening under the piano/forte switch.
(3) Now plug the black-white cable of the Bluetooth module into the right opening of the
motherboard from the side.
(4) Then plug the blue-white cable of the volume control on the left into the Bluetooth module.
The best way is to place the cable in the free space to the left of the volume control.
(5) Plug the black-white cable of the speaker into the right "shoe" of the Bluetooth module.

3. Now install the module by pushing the on/off switch through the hole and carefully threading the module
past the screw of the board. Make sure that you do not pinch any cable between the housing and the
platinum/module. Tip: It is best to carefully push the cables away with the help of the tweezers.
4. Pull off the adhesive strip of the spacer with the tweezers and press the adhesive pad firmly on only when
the module and spacer are optimally aligned.
This completes the new wiring.
5. Now tighten the nut of the switch by hand using the scratch protection. Don't use too much force to keep
the thread from tearing out.

6. The installation of the Bluetooth module is finished. Now you can set the desired playing time/switch-off time
with the little white switches (see operating instructions). Close hörbert again after inserting the batteries.
