Purpose of use Intended use
This device is an accessory for the HAAG-STREIT BQ 900 slit lamp which can be used to produce digital photographs and
videos for documentation of the eye.
NOTES!
This manual is ONLY intended for installation of IM 900 units.
This manual is ONLY to be used by trained engineers that have attended an official HAAG-STREIT
training course.
Further important information:
•Operation of the appliance for performance of an examination, as well as the description of the EyeSuite
software and the system messages and error list can be called up in the EyeSuite software using the 'F1'
key.
•‘EyeSuite Setup manual’ (7220060) regarding the installation of EyeSuite.
•‘Instructions for use’ (7220506) regarding the purpose of use and description of the instrument.
NOTES!
This manual is only intended for maintenance and repair on IM 900 units with part number 1022538
(model year 2015 and higher).

2. Installation
FORBIDDEN!
It is prohibited to disassemble any parts other than described in this manual. If not followed, all warranty claims
are void.
ESD –Electrostatic Discharge!
Electronic circuits of the IM 900 are sensitive to electrostatic discharges. ESD –Electrostatic Sensitive Device –,
The technician must be grounded for all repairs. Keep parts sensitive to electrostatic discharges in static
shielding bags for storage, transportation and shipping.
Attaching the label for automatic left/right detection
NOTE!
Clean the table surface before positioning the side identification sticker (1022535) Make sure that no oil and
grease residue remains on the surface.
NOTE!
Make sure you use side identification sticker (1022535) together with RM02.

•Remove the rail cover (5) and move away the slit lamp. Clean surface of table.
•Remove protective film (1) from the back of the sticker. Start lifting it off carefully from the corner opposite the black area.
•Position the sticker against the right roller rail (3) and the edge of the table (4). Press the white-black surface, smooth out air
bubbles.
•Carefully tear off the rest of the 'Positioning Tool' sticker (2) along the perforations.
•Mount the slit lamp and rail cover again.

Connecting the IM 900 to the optical path
Attach the cable holders onto the microscope arm as shown
in Fig. 2.

Position the module between binocular tube and magnification
changer.

Align the marking points on the upper side of the parts to be
connected.
Turn the locking ring in direction of the arrow to tighten.

Fix the cable in the cable holders.

Mount the RM02 on the Slit lamp and connect the camera
cable to the release module. Push the cable in the cable
holder.

NOTE!
Only use the supplied USB 3.0 cable to connect the camera with the release module.
Pull the PC cable (1), power supply cable (2) and the
headrest cable (3) through a braided sleeving (4).
Refer to the below drawing in case you need to know the
cable functions on your installation.

Place the RM02 and the cable cover upside-down.
Plug the power supply cable and the computer cable in the
corresponding sockets of the RM02.
NOTE!
The RM 02 can be used in three setups:
•Camera + Illlumination control
•Illumination control
•Camera control

To prevent accidental unplugging, make a loop in the
power cable.

Fix the loop to the computer cable by using a tie wrap.

Tighten the braided sleeving and fix it with a tie wrap.

Mount the cable cover (1022516) to the RM02 and put
the RM02 on the cross slide.

Connect the computer cable USB 3.0 to the PC and the
power supply to the power network.
