Turntheairconditioner off and remove the plug from the wall
outletbeforecleaning. Toclean, use water and a mild detergent. Do notusebleach orabrasives.
AirFilter
Theairfilterbehind the front grille should be checked and
cleanedatleastevery 30 days or more often if necessary.
To remove:
Slidethefilterfrom the left side of the unit. Remove thefilter.
Cleanthefilterwith warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter
drybeforereplacingit. Do not clean the filter in a dishwasher.
CAUTION

withoutafilterbecause dirt and lint will clog it and reduce
performance.
OutdoorCoils
Thecoilsonthe outdoor side of the air conditioner should be
checkedregularly.Ifthey are clogged with dirt or soot, they
maybeprofessionallycleaned.
DoNotOperateinFreezingOutdoorConditions
Thiscool-onlyairconditionerwasnotdesignedforfreezing
outdoorconditions. Itmustnotbeusedwhentheoutdoor
temperatureisbelowfreezing(32°F).

bottomrails. Makesurethat side curtains snap into
sideoftheframes.

4. INSTALL THE AIR CONDITIONER IN
THE WINDOW
A. Measurethewidthof the window opening and mark
thecenterlineon the inside window sill. Place the
unitinthewindow. Lower the window to hold unit in
place.
B. Settheairconditioner in the window so that is
centered. Placetheairconditioner so that front
edgeofthebottom mounting rail is against the back
edgeofthesill.
C. Installthesidebracket into the unit and into the
windowsillusingtwo 1” wood screws provided.

4. INSTALL THE AIR CONDITIONER IN

D. Bringthewindowdown so that the front edge of the
topmountingisin front of the window. Make sure
thattheairconditioner is level or tilting slightly to
theoutside.
E. Extendthecurtainpanels until they fill the window.
Markthelocationof the holes in each corner. Use
thedrilland1/8” drill bit to drill pilot holes. Use 4
typeBscrewsto secure the side panels in place.

Savetimeandmoney! Review the charts on the following pages firstandyoumaynotneedtocallforservice.
Problem Possible Cause What To Do
Air conditioner does not
start. The unit is unplugged. Makesurethe air conditionerplugis pushed completelyinto theoutlet.
The fuse is blown/circuit breaker is
tripped. Checkthehouse fuse/circuit breakerboxand replace thefuse orresetthe breaker.
Power Failure. Theunitwill automatically restartinthe setting lastusedafter
thepoweris restored.
Thereisa protective timedelay(approximately 3 minutes)to
preventtrippingof the compressoroverload. Forthis reason,
theunitmay not startnormalcooling for 3minutesafter it is
turnedbackon.
The current interrupter device is
tripped. PressRESETbutton located onthepower cord plug.
IftheRESET button willnotstay engaged, discontinueuseof
theairconditioner and contactaqualified service technician.
Air conditioner does not
cool as it should. Indoor airflow is restricted. Makesurethere are notcurtains,blinds or furnitureblocking thefrontof the airconditioner.
The temp control may not be set
properly. Turnthe temperaturecontrol to ahighernumber.
The air filter is dirty. Cleanthefilter at leastevery30 days. See CareandCleaning
section.
Theroommay have been hot. When the airconditioneris first turnedon,you need toallow
timeforthe room tocooldown.
Coldairis escaping. Check foropenfurnace registers andcoldair returns.
Cooling coils have iced up. See“Airconditioner freezing up”below.
Air conditioner freezing up Ice blocks the air flow and stops
the air conditioner from cooling the
room.
Onmodelswith control knobs,setthe mode controlatHigh
FanorHigh Cool withtheTemp at 1or2.
Water drips outside Hot, humid weather. Thisisnormal.
Water drips inside The air conditioner is not tilted to
the outside. Forproperdisposal, make suretheair conditioner slants slightlyfromthe case fronttothe rear.
Water collects in base pan Moisture removed from air and drain
into base pan. Thisisnormal for ashortperiod in areaswithlittle humidity; normalfora longer periodinvery humid areas.

•Youmayhear a pinging noise caused by water being pickedupandthrownagainstthecondenseronrainydaysorwhenthe
humidityishigh.This design feature helps remove moisture and improve efficiency.
•Youmayhear the thermostat click when the compressor cycles onandoff.
•Waterwillcollect in the base pan duringhigh humidity or onrainydays.Thewatermayoverflowanddripfromtheoutdoor
sideoftheunit.
•Thefanmay run even when the compressor does not.
•Waterdropletsbeing thrown against the outside coils can make apingingnoise.Thishelpscoolthecondenser. Youcan
reducethisnoiseby removing the subbase water plug.
Toensuremaximumefficiency it is recommended to check to ensure therubberdrainplugisproperlyinserted. Thisplug
mayberemovedduring operation to minimize water in the back oftheunit;however,removingitwilllowertheefficiency
ofyourunit.
NOTE: Donotdrillhole in the base pan.
