Note–Use in wet environments
The speaker is waterproof at depths of up to 1maccording to IPX7. It can
therefore be usedinwet environments(e.g.the shower) without problems.
Please notethat all charging ports must be closed when thespeaker comes
intocontact with water.
4. Getting Started and Operation
4.1 Switching the product on and off
•Press and holdthe function button (4) forabout 2seconds to switch the
speakeronoroff.
•Anacousticsignal sounds and thestatusLED (11) starts ashing.
Note–Automatic shutdown
•Note that the speaker willautomatically switch offafter 10 minutes without
action (noaudio playback/no Bluetooth function).
4.2 Charging the battery
Warning –Battery
•Only usesuitable charging devices or USBconnections for charging.
•Asarule,donot chargedevicesorUSB connections that aredefective and
do not trytorepairthem yourself.
•Donot overcharge theproduct or allow the battery to completelydischarge.
•Avoid storing, chargingorusingbatteries in extremetemperatures.
•When storedoveralongperiodoftime,batteries should be charged
regularly (atleast every three months).
Note
•Donot charge theproduct usingthe USBconnection on your PC/laptop. This
can causedamage to the USB connection.

•Carefully seal the Micro-USB port after chargingtomakesurethat the
product is waterproof.
•Note that water mayaffect the rangeand tone of the speaker.
•Charge thespeakerfullybeforeusingitfor the rst time.
•Open the closure on the Micro-USB port (9).
•Connect the included Micro-USB chargingcable to the speaker’sMicro-USB
port (9).
•Connect the unused connector on the Micro-USB charging cable to asuitable
USB charger.Please refer to the operating instructions for the USBcharger
used.
•The charging statusLED (5)beginstoash blue.
•When the battery is fully charged, all fourstatus LEDs(5) areconstantly lit blue.
Note–Charging
•Ittakes approx.5hourstocompletely chargethe product.
•The speaker’sbattery can be charged whether thespeakerisonoroff.
•Ifthe batterycapacity is less than 10%, the speakerwillemittwo acoustic
signals. Youwillonlyreceive this information if the speaker is on.
•The actual batterylifevaries depending on use of thedevice,the settingsand
the ambient conditions (rechargeable batterieshavealimited service life).

4.3 Bluetooth pairing
Note
•Checkwhetheryourmobile device (MP3 player, mobilephone, etc.) is
Bluetooth capable.
•Note that the maximum rangefor Bluetooth is 10 metres without obstacles
such as walls, people, etc.
•Make surethatyour
Bluetooth
capable terminal deviceisonand
Bluetooth
is activated.
•Make surethatthe speaker is located withinthe
Bluetooth
range of max.
10 metres.
•Switch on the speakers as described in
4.1 Switching theproduct on
and off
.
•The status LED (11)beginstoash. Thespeakersearchesfor aconnection.
•Open the Bluetooth settingsonyourterminal deviceand wait until Hama
Soldier-L appears in the list of Bluetoothdevicesfound.
•Select Hama Soldier-L and wait until the speaker is listed as connected in
theBluetooth settings on your terminal device.Anacousticsignal conrmsthat
connectionwas successful.
•The Bluetooth statusLED (11) lights up and remains lit.
Note–Bluetooth password
•Some terminal devices requireapasswordinorder to connecttoanother
Bluetooth device.
•Ifyourterminaldevice requests apasswordfor connectiontothe speaker,
enter 0000.
4.4 Automatic Bluetooth connection (after successful pairing)
•Make sure thatyourBluetooth capable terminaldevice is on andBluetooth
is activated.
•Make sure thatthe speaker is located withinthe Bluetooth rangeofmax. 10
metres.
•Switch on thespeakers as described in
4.1 Switching theproduct on
and off
.
•After successfulconnection, the statusLED (11) will lightupinblue. An
acousticsignal conrms that connection was successful.
Note–Connectionimpaired
•After the speakerand terminal device have been paired, aconnection is
established automatically. If theBluetooth connection is not established
automatically, check the following:
•Checkthe Bluetooth settings of your terminal device to see whether Hama
Soldier-L is connected. If not, repeat thesteps listed underBluetooth
pairing.
•Checkwhetheryourterminal device and the speaker arelessthan 10 metres
apart. If not, movethemcloser together.
•Checkwhetherobstaclesare impairing the range. If so,movethe devices
closertogether.
4.5 Audio playback(via Bluetooth)
Start andcontrol audio playback on theconnected terminal device accordingly.
Alternatively,audioplaybackcan alsobecontrolled on thespeaker (if the
connected device supports thisfunction).
•Press the (4)functionbutton to startorpause audio playback.
•Brieypress the+(3) function button, to increase thevolume.
•Brieypress the–(2)function button, to reducethe volume.
•Hold down the+(3) function button,toskiptothe nexttrack.
•Hold down the–(2) function button, to go back to theprevious track.
4.6 Hands-free function
Youcan use the speaker as ahands-freeset for your mobile phone.For this
function,the mobile phone must be connected to thespeakervia Bluetooth.
•Press the function button (4)once to answer an incomingcall.
•Press and holdthe function button (4) again to continue the call.
•During acall, pressthe function button (4)oncetoend thecall.
Note–Callquality
•Toincrease thecallquality,make sure that you arenear the speaker with
your mobile phone duringthe call.
5. Connection of multiple speakers via Multi-Connect
•You canconnect anynumber of speakers of theSoldierseries (‘S’ or ‘L’) to one
another via Bluetooth.
•One speakershould be switched on.Toconnect this speakertoanother
speaker,proceedasfollows:
Note
Thespeaker switchedonrstisthe ‘master’ in the group. All otherspeakers
youadd arereferred to as ‘slaves’.
•Switch on the speakerthatyou want to add (see
4.1 Switching on/off
).
•Press the functionbutton (1)for thisslave. Asignal toneshouldsound.A
connection to themaster is being set up.
•Ifthe connectionwas successful,the Multi-Connectstatus LED (10) of theslave
is constantlylit orange.
•The Bluetooth statusLED (11) of themaster is constantly litblue.
•Toremove aslave from thegroup, brieypress the function button (1)for
this slave.
•Ifyou simultaneously press the –(2) and+(3) functionbuttonsfor aslave,this
slavebecomesthe masterinthe group.
6. Charging terminal devices via USB Type-A connection
Warning –Connecting terminaldevices
•Before connectingaterminal device, check whether the poweroutput of the
Hama Soldier-L cansupply sucient powerfor the device.
•Ensurethat the total power consumptionofall connected terminaldevices
does not exceed 1000mA.
•Please refertothe instructionsinthe operating manualofyourterminal
device.
•Itisessential that you observe thesespecications and the safety
instructions regarding thepower supply of your devices.
•Connect the USB cable of theterminaldevice youwishtocharge (mobile
phone, smartphone, etc.)tothe USB Type-Acharging socket(7) of the Hama
Soldier-L.
•Tostart charging, pressthe function button (4).
•End thecharging process by disconnectingthe USBcable of your terminal
device from the Hama Soldier-L.
7. Care and Maintenance
•Only clean this productwithaslightly damp, lint-free cloth anddonot use
aggressivecleaning agents.
