The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or

Electrical Safety
• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not
use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and
matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
•Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators,
ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.

Personal Safety

Power Tool Use and Care

was designed.
• Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturnitonandoff.Any power tool
that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
• Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourceand/orthebatterypackfromthe
powertoolbeforemakinganyadjustments,changingaccessories,orstoring
power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.
• Storeidlepowertoolsoutofthereachofchildrenanddonotallowpersons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
• Maintainpowertools.Checkformisalignmentorbindingofmovingparts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• Keepcuttingtoolssharpandclean.Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
• Usethepowertool,accessories,toolbits,etc.inaccordancewiththese
instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
Battery Tool Use and Care
• Rechargeonlywiththechargerspecifiedbythemanufacturer. A charger that is
suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of re when used with another
battery pack.
• Underabusiveconditions,liquidmaybeejectedfromthebattery;avoidcontact.
If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contact eyes, additionally
seek medical help. Liquidejectedfromthebatterymaycauseirritationorburns.
• Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other
batterypacksmaycreateariskofinjuryandre.

• Whenbatterypackisnotinuse,keepitawayfromothermetalobjects,likepaper

connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may
cause burns or a re.
Service
• Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualifiedrepairpersonusingonlyidentical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
Specic Safety Warnings for Right-Angle Impact Driver Function
• Holdpowertoolsbytheirinsulatedgrippingsurfaceswhenperformingan
operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring. Cutting
accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool
“live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
Specic Safety Warnings for Auto-Hammer Function

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. How To Charge
NOTICE: The integrated Lithium-Ion
battery is shipped partially charged.
Before using it the first time, fully
charge the battery. A fully discharged
battery will normally charge in about
2 hours in a surrounding temperature
between 32°F (0°C) and 131°F
(55°C)
a. Charge the tool only with the
correct charger.
b. Lock the variable-speed trigger
on the tool by placing the forward/
lock/reverse selector in the center
position.
c. Align the slots of the integrated
Lithium-Ion battery with the
electrical contacts of the charger,
and then slide the tool into the
charger.
d. Connect the charger to the power
supply. The charger can only
be used with normal household
voltage of 120 volt AC, 60 Hz.
e. The red and green charging indicator lights will illuminate for approximately one
second and then turn off. The charger will communicate with the tool to evaluate the
condition of the integrated Lithium-Ion battery.
f. The green light will ash while the integrated Lithium-Ion battery is charging
normally. When charging is complete, the green indicator light on the charger will
illuminate.
g. A ickering red light indicates a defective battery or a bad connection between the
integrated Lithium-Ion battery and the charger.
h. The integrated Lithium-Ion battery will fully charge if left on the charger, but it will
not overcharge.
NOTICE: For your convenience, the charger can operate with most generators and inverters
rated at 13 watts or higher.

2. Variable-speed Trigger
a. To turn the tool ON, depress the
variable-speed trigger.
b. To turn it OFF, release the
variable-speed trigger.
NOTICE: The variable-speed trigger
delivers higher speed with increased
trigger pressure and lower speed with
decreased trigger pressure.
3. Forward/Lock/Reverse Selector
The direction of rotation while impact
driving is reversible and is controlled
by a selector located above the
variable-speed trigger. With the tool
held toward you as shown in figure 3.
a. Position the forward/lock/reverse
selector to the right of the tool for
forward rotation.
b. Position the forward/lock/reverse
selector to the left of the tool for
reverse rotation.
c. Setting the forward/lock/reverse
selector in the OFF (center-lock) position helps reduce the possibility of accidental
starting when not in use.
NOTICE: To prevent gear damage, always allow the tool to come to a complete stop before
changing the direction of rotation.
NOTICE: The tool will not run unless the forward/lock/reverse selector is engaged to the left
or right.

4. LED Worklight
a. The LED worklight, located on
the head of the tool, illuminates
when the variable-speed trigger
is depressed. This provides
additional light on the surface of
the workpiece for operation in
lower-light areas.
b. The LED worklight will turn off
when the variable-speed trigger
is released.
c. This tool is equipped with a
Fuel Gauge that indicates the
charge remaining in the integrated
Lithium-Ion battery.
If the Fuel Gauge displays a red light, it indicates that the integrated Lithium-Ion
battery needs to be charged.

6. Auto Hammer Adaptor
The auto hammer adapter permits the
tool to be used in the auto hammer
function.
When not in use, the auto hammer
adaptor provided with the tool
can be placed in the storage area
located on the base of the tool.
Store the adaptor on the base of the
tool by snapping it into place.
7. Installing Bits/
Auto Hammer Adaptor
a. Lock the variable-speed trigger
by placing the forward/lock/
reverse selector in the LOCKED
(center) position.
b. With one hand, pull the quick-
release 1/4" hex collet toward the
front of the tool and hold it in place.
c. With the other hand, insert a 1/4"
bit or the auto hammer adaptor
into the hexagonal opening in the
bit retainer.
d. Release the quick-release 1/4" hex collet and check that it returns to itsoriginal position.
WARNING: If the quick-release 1/4" hex collet does not return to its original position,
the bit or adaptor is not correctly installed. Retry until the bit or adaptor is properly installed
and the quick-release 1/4" hex collet returns to its original position.
Removing Bits /Auto Hammer Adaptor
a. Lock the variable-speed trigger by placing the forward/lock/reverse selector in the
LOCKED (center) position.
b. Pull the quick-release 1/4" hex collet towards the front of the tool and hold it in place.
c. Remove the bit or adaptor from the hexagonal opening in the bit retainer.
d. Release the quick-release 1/4" hex collet.
WARNING: The bit may be hot after prolonged use. Use protective gloves when
removing the bit or adaptor from the tool, or rst allow the bit to cool down.

8. Tightening and Loosening
Screws and Nuts
a. Set the dual-function switch to the
impact driving function, marked
with “ ”

b. Install the correct bit.
c. Position the forward/lock/reverse
selector to the proper direction.
d. Applyjustenoughpressureto
keep the bit engaged on the screw
or nut.
e. Apply minimal pressure to the
variable-speed trigger initially.
Increase the speed only when you
can maintain full control.
WARNING: Do not over-tighten, as the force of the impact driver can break the
fastener. Keep the Impact driver at a right angle to the fastener to avoid damaging the
fastener head.
WARNING: After operating, the tool should be placed horizontally on a surface; do not
attempt to stand it upright.
NOTICE: This tool can also be used for drilling in wood with suitable drilling bits when the
dual-function switch is set to drive function. For maximum performance, never use this tool
for drilling in metal or masonry.

9. Hammering Nails
a. Set the dual-function switches
to the auto hammering function
marked with “ ”.
b. Attach the auto hammer adaptor
to the tool.
c. Position the forward/lock/reverse
selector to either the right or the left.
d. Secure the material to be nailed
with clamps to keep it from
turning when hammering.
e. Insert the head of the nail into the
adaptor so that it contacts the
recessed shaft. Place the tip of the
nail against the workpiece.
WARNING: Before depressing the variable-speed trigger to start hammering, make
sure that the adaptor is securely attached on the tool. Otherwise, the adaptor would move,
causingseriouspersonalinjury.
f. Holding the shaft of the nail steady with your hand, push down on the tool and press
thevariable-speedtriggertoinitiatethehammeringaction,anddrivethenailjustfar
enough into the workpiece so that it will stand on its own. Release variable-speed
trigger and remove your hand from the nail.
CAUTION: Be especially careful when driving shorter nails, such as brads, that you
remove your hand as soon as the nail stands on its own in the workpiece.
g. Resume pushing down on the tool and pressing the variable-speed trigger to
continue hammering until the nail is fully driven into the workpiece. Near the end
of hammering, the adaptor will retract to allow the hammerhead to drive the nail
head ush to the workpiece.
WARNING: Toavoidpossibleseriousinjury,donotexertexcessiveforceonthetool
or apply side pressure. Hold the tool rmly while pushing steadily to allow the hammerhead
to drive the nail automatically.

Recommended Nails to Use
The tool is versatile for use with a variety of nails. Bright common and nishing nails from
2d to 8d are recommended for use with this tool.
Recommended Nailing Materials for the Impact Driver/Auto-hammer
The tool may be used for nailing into all types of woods, wood-like materials, and plaster board.
NOTICE: The tool is not suitable for nailing in hard metal or concrete.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
All maintenance should only be carried out by an authorized service organization.
Cleaning
Before cleaning or performing any maintenance, lock the variable-speed trigger on the
tool by placing the forward/lock/reverse selector in the OFF (center) position. For safe and
proper operation, always keep the tool and its ventilation slots clean.
Always use only a soft, dry cloth to clean your impact driver/auto-hammer; never use
detergent or alcohol.

BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION
FOR RECYCLING
To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of batteries
properly. This product contains lithium-ion batteries. Local, state, or
federal laws may prohibit disposal of lithium-ion batteries in ordinary
trash. Consult your local waste authority for information regarding
available recycling and/or disposal options.
WARNING: Upon removal of the battery pack for disposal or recycling, cover the
battery pack’s terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or
disassemble the battery pack or remove any of its components. Lithium-Ion batteries must
berecycledordisposedofproperly.Also,nevertouchtheterminalswithmetalobjectsand/
or body parts as a short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure to comply with
thesewarningscouldresultinreand/orseriousinjury.
3 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
This compact impact driver/auto hammer is warranted to the original purchaser from the
original purchase date for two years, plus one additional year with product registration at
www.hammerheadtools.com(2+1),foratotalthreeyearssubjecttothewarrantycoverage
described herein.

This compact impact driver/auto hammer is warranted to the original user to be free from
defects in material and workmanship. If you believe that the impact driver/auto hammer is
defective at any time during the specied warranty period, call HAMMERHEAD support at
1-877-888-1880 to speak with a customer service agent. This warranty does not cover: (1)
Part failure due to normal wear or tool abuse (2) Any parts have been altered or modied by
anyone other than an authorized HAMMERHEAD personnel.
This warranty excludes bits, bulbs and accessories. This warranty gives you specic legal
rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state.
