Thank you for purchasing the Hangar 9®ProSeal™covering iron. This covering iron features a thermostatically
controlled temperature maintenance system that actually monitors the heat and regulates power to maintain the
temperature settings on the dial.
IMPORTANT: Consult the instructions provided with the film for suggested iron temperature settings. Always
start with a lower setting than recommended and increase the heat slowly if necessary.
The ProSeal covering iron also features a non-stick coated ironing surface that allows the iron to glide over
the covering material without scratching. This coating may produce a light smoke the first time the covering
iron is used.
The specifically designed tip allows easy iron access between control surfaces and in hard-to-reach areas. A
convenient aluminum stand is also included.
WARNING: Read the ENTIRE instruction manual to become familiar with the features of the product
before operating. Failure to operate the product correctly can result in damage to the product,
personal property and cause serious injury.
This is a sophisticated hobby product. It must be operated with caution and common sense and requires
some basic mechanical ability. Failure to operate this Product in a safe and responsible manner could result
in injury or damage to the product or other property. This product is not intended for use by children without
direct adult supervision. Do not attempt disassembly, use with incompatible components or alter product in
any way without the approval of Horizon Hobby, LLC. This manual contains instructions for safety, operation
and maintenance. It is essential to read and follow all the instructions and warnings in the manual, prior to
assembly, setup or use, in order to operate correctly and avoid damage or serious injury.
Age Recommendation: Not for children under 14 years. This is not a toy.
CAUTION: Iron surface will become hot. Operating temperature can exceed 200°C (400°F). Use
extreme caution when operating this product to avoid burns.
Operation:
Plug the ProSeal covering iron into a suitable 110–120V AC outlet. Adjust the temperature control dial on
the covering iron to the recommended temperature for the covering you will be applying. The orange LED will
illuminate on the covering iron indicating the iron is heating to the set temperature. Once at the set temperature,
the green LED will illuminate, indicating the iron is ready to use. If the red LED is illuminated, the iron is above
the set temperature and will stop heating until the set temperature has been achieved.
TIP: We recommend starting below the recommended temperature for your covering, then increasing the
temperature as you work with the covering.
Shoe replacement:
The shoe for your covering iron (HAN135S ProSeal Covering Iron Shoe) can be replaced if it becomes scratched
or damaged. Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on the top of the covering iron. Carefully
separate the shoe slightly from the main body of the iron and rotate the shoe to expose the two internal screws
securing the heating element to the shoe. Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws separating
the heating element from the shoe. Install the new shoe by attaching the heating element to the shoe, then
attaching the shoe back to the main body of the covering iron.
