When unpacking, check to make
sure that the item is intact and undamaged.
If any parts are missing or broken, please
call Harbor Freight Tools at the number
shown on the cover of this manual as soon
as possible.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Read the ENTIRE IMPORTANT
SAFETY INFORMATION section
at the beginning of this manual
including all text under
subheadings therein before set
up or use of this product.
Remove the Probe Cap.1.
Push the “On/Recall” Button. A2.
number of symbols will ash along
the top of the Display. The battery
symbol will display the charge level.
The Cover symbol will ash to remind
the operator to use a disposable cap,
and the ear symbol will appear.
Place a Disposable Probe Cover over3.
the Probe and push it down until it

clicks. Use a new Probe Cover each
time a temperature is taken.
Warning. The probe can permanently
damage the eardrum if applied too
deep. Take great care and be very
gentle when taking temperatures.
Never take a temperature in the ear if
it is inamed or infected.
For children younger than 12 months,4.
pull the earlobe down and back. For
anyone older than 12 months, pull
the earlobe up and back. Center
the probe tip in the ear, push gently
inward toward the eardrum, and push
the Scan Button.
Hold the Scan Button down until5.
the unit beeps, and check the
temperature displayed on the LCD.
This Thermometer only measures6.
temperatures between 96°F and
107.6°F (35.5°C to 42°C). If the
temperature this range, the LED
will display an “L” for low. If the
temperature reading is above this
range, the LED will display an “H” for
high.
Normal human body temperature is7.
about 98.6° +/- 1°. The temperature
taken in the ear will usually be
about 0.5° to 1° higher than the
core temperature of the body. Any
temperature higher than 101°F is
considered a fever; the advice of
a medical professional should be
sought.
Using the Recall Button
Pushing the ON/RECALL button will8.
display the last nine temperatures
taken. This is useful when taking the
temperature of the same person over
the course of several hours. Wait at
least one minute, before taking the
temperature of an individual again.
After each use, discard the disposable9.
probe cover. Wipe the probe with a
cloth dipped in mild detergent, or use
an alcohol pad. Store in a dry and
cool location that is out of reach of
children.
USER-MAINTENANCE
INSTRUCTIONS
Procedures not specically
explained in this manual must
be performed only by a qualied
technician.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and
Lubrication
BEFORE EACH USE,1. inspect the
general condition of the unit. Check
for loose screws, cracked or broken
parts, and any other condition that
may affect its safe operation.
AFTER USE,2. sanitize with 70%
isopropyl alcohol. Do not use with
water, Thermometer is not waterproof.
Have the Thermometer calibrated3.
every two years by a qualied
technician.
Changing the Batteries
When the low battery symbol ashes 4.
the battery should be changed. Use
a screwdriver to remove the screw
holding the Battery Cover. Remove
the old batteries and dispose of them
properly, according to type, following
all State, local and Federal laws
and regulations. Paying attention
to polarity, place two new 1.5V
AAA batteries in the compartment.
Replace and secure cover.
