Drive Shaft Assembly Replacement

Description: These instructions describe how to replace the drive shaft assembly onto existing drive plates in the field.
Required tools
Required parts available from Hardt (P/N)
Wrench set
Ratchet set
Torque wrench
Ruler/Tape measure
3ft level (or equivalent metal straight edge)
1x Drive Shaft Assembly (99-15367)

1. BEFORE YOU START
ENSURE THE ROTISSERIE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH BEFORE
PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE.
2. Remove drive assembly
a. Use the green manual drive advance switch to rotate the
drive until the slot of the drive hub is horizontal.
b. Lift the left side of the drive assembly out of its cradle, then
guide the end key shaft (right side of the drive assembly) out
of the slotted hub as shown.
c. Carefully guide the drive assembly out of the oven cavity.

4. Reassemble drive assembly with new drive shaft
Observe the enamel coated sides of the drive plates as they
will need to be assembled facing inwards.
a. Insert the end key side of the drive shaft into the drive plate
(with the triangular slots) and lightly fasten with the
hardware previously removed. Confirm that the enamel side
is facing inwards.
b. Place the assembly on a flat surface. Insert the other end
into the remaining spit drive plate (with circular slots), using
the indicated flat edges for proper orientation. Lightly fasten
with the hardware previously removed. Confirm that the
enamel side is facing inwards.
c. Place a 3 ft. level (or equivalent straight edge) onto the flat
portion of the drive plates to ensure precise alignment and
adjust drive plates as necessary. Once precisely aligned,
tighten all hardware (torque to 114 in-lbs).

5. Insert a skewer into the drive assembly
a. Insert the pointed end of the skewer into a hole in the
support plate.
b. Align the other end of the skewer with the corresponding
triangular hole on the drive plate and push into place.

6. Confirm spacing of drive plate assembly
a. Slide the skewer to the left until the shoulder at the left end
of the skewer is butted against the left side support plate.
b. Observe if the indicated portion of the skewer extends a
minimum of 3/16” (5 mm) beyond the drive plate. If the
measurement is less than this minimum, manually bend the
plate until the 3/16” (5 mm) dimension is met.
c. Proceed to check all positions in this manner.
Any manual bending of the plate may have affected the
dimensions of other hole locations. Please recheck the
3/16” (5 mm) requirement at all hole locations if bending was
performed.

7. Reinstall drive assembly to finish procedure
by performing step 1 in reverse
