COMMANDER 120
STERN BAG/COVER
#8025344
The Commander 120 Stern Bag/Cover is designed specifically for the Wilderness Systems Commander 120 stern
tank well. It is designed to serve multiple purposes.
The waterproof nylon top deck is designed to function as a spray cover. It is highly water repellant but not designed
to be waterproof. Some seepage of water through the top seams sewn in cover to suspend the mesh storage cell
can be expected as well as waves working underneath the edges of the cover on occasion. The storage cell is
constructed of mesh as well. It is recommended that any gear stored in or under this cover be stored in waterproof
containers if it is critical it stay dry.
The Commander 120 Stern Bag/Cover is designed to deflect the majority of spray, rain, splash, you encounter and
minimize its’ entry into your boat. The zipper accessing the underside mesh storage cell is suspended below the
deck of the cover to minimize potential leakage through a top-mounted zipper. The mesh cell is also purposely cut
deep to allow it to rest on the bottom of the hull of boat rather than suspended above the hull. This was designed to
also minimize the effect of gear stowed in the cell pulling down on the deck and creating an area to collect moisture.
The Commander 120 Stern Bag/Cover features 2 handles to allow you to easily load and unload a loaded bag into
your boat. You can stow your gear at home or at your vehicle car and simply drop in place at your launch. At the
end of the day, it’s easy to hoist the loaded bag out of the boat and transport your gear to your campsite or vehicle
in one trip.
Installation instructions:
1) Remove end cap at stern end of side slide track rail with Phillips head screw driver, reaching inside to
hold the wellnut anchoring the screw. Set cap and screw and nut aside.
2) Loosen and remove preexisting deck fittings and bungee. This is necessary to properly position the
fittings needed for the Stern Bag/Cover.
3) Insert 4 brass plates into each slide rail. Slide one brass plate on each side to position next to seat.
4) Lay the cover over the stern tank well. There is a perimeter bungee cord running around the cover.
Align the remaining 6 slide trax fittings with the cut-outs in the webbing around edge of cover.
5) Secure the molded black slide track fittings to the brass mounting plates with the socket screws
provided. Orient the fittings so that the most prominent “hook” is facing down and lightly secure in
place.
6) Pull the bungee cord out from the gap in webbing and hook over the slide trax fittings. You may find if
desirable to reposition the fittings a bit forward of the front corners of the cover and a bit to the stern of
the rear fittings to generate desired tension on the cover. Align the fittings at center directly under the
center gap in webbing. The cover should be taut to best repel water.
7) Take the ends of the bungee cord with hooks and pull taut and attach each hook to the slide trax fittings
installed next to seat. You can adjust tension of bungee cord by moving these fittings forward to
increase tension and back to lessen.
8) Tighten slide trax fittings completely.
9) To access storage cell, release the hooks attached to the forward slide trax fittings. Pull up on end of
cover and reach underneath to open zipper. It may be necessary to unhook the forward loops of
bungee from slide trax fittings to accommodate bulky gear.
