such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or string which
can be thrown or become entangled in the machine.
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
complywithANSIZ87.1.Followingthisrulewillreduce
the risk of serious personal injury.
Use Safety Glasses – Wear a face or dust mask if the
operation is dusty. Always wear safety glasses with side
shields. Everyday glasses have only impact resistant
lenses. They are NOT safety glasses. Following this rule
will reduce the risk of eye injury.
Protectyourlungs.Wearafaceordustmaskiftheop-
eration is dusty. Following this rule will reduce the risk
of serious personal injury.
DressProperly–Donotwearlooseclothingorjewel-
ery.Theycanbecaughtinmovingparts.Useofrubber
glovesandsubstantialfootwearisrecommendedwhen
workingoutdoors.Wearheavy,longpants,longsleeves,
boots,andgloves.Donotwearshortpants,sandals,or
go barefoot. Do not wear jewelry of any kind.
Securelonghairaboveshoulderleveltoprevententan-
glementinmovingparts.
Keep children away – Keep all bystanders, children, and
petsatleast50ft.away.
Stay alert – Watch what you are doing. Use common
sense. Do not operate this unit when you are tired, ill,
upset or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medi-
cation.
Do not operate in poor lighting.
Keepallpartsofyourbodyawayfromanymovingpart.
Donotoperatepowertoolsinexplosiveatmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or
dust.Power toolscreate sparkswhich mayignitethe
dust or fumes.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as
pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
AvoidDangerousEnvironments–Don’texposeappliance
or string trimmer to rain or wet conditions. Water entering
an appliance or string trimmer will increase the risk of
electric shock.
Use right appliance – Do not use this appliance for any
job except that for which it is intended.
Don’t Force Appliance – It will do the job better and with
less likelihood of a risk of injury at the rate for which it
was designed.
Do not operate the equipment while barefoot or when
wearing sandals or similar lightweight footwear. Wear
protectivefootwearthatwillprotectyourfeetandim-
proveyourfootingonslipperysurfaces.
Donotoverreach–Keepfirmfootingandbalance.Over-
reaching can result in loss of balance.
Avoidaccidentalstarting–Besureswitchtriggerisin
the locked or off position before inserting battery pack or
power cord. Carrying tools with your finger on the switch
trigger or inserting the battery pack into a tool with the
switchoninvitesaccidents.
Do not use tool if switch trigger does not turn it on or off.
Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch trigger
is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect power – Disconnect battery pack or power
cord from the appliance before storing, servicing, or
changingaccessoriessuchascuttingline.Suchpreven-
tivesafetymeasuresreducetheriskofstartingthetool
accidentally.
Use only recommended or equivalent manufacturer’s
replacement parts and accessories. Use of any other
partsmaycreateahazardorcauseproductdamage.
Maintain appliance with care – Follow instructions for
lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect appliance
inletplugperiodically,andifdamaged,haveitrepaired
byanauthorizedservicefacility.Inspectextensioncords
periodically and replace if damaged. Replace string head
if cracked, chipped, or damaged in any way. Be sure the
string head is properly installed and securely fastened.
Failure to do so can cause serious injury. Keep handles
dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
Check for damaged parts – Before further use of the tool,
any part that is damaged should be carefully checked
to determine that it will operate properly and perform its
intendedfunction.Checkforalignmentofmovingparts,
bindingofmovingparts,breakageofparts,mounting,
and any other conditions that may affect its operation.
A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly
repairedorreplacedbyanauthorizedservicedealer.
Make sure all guards, straps, deflectors and handles are
properly and securely attached.

Use only the manufacturer’s replacement line in the
cutting head. Do not use any other cutting attachment,
for example, metal wire, rope, or the like. To install any
other brand of cutting head to this string trimmer can
result in serious personal injury.
Neveroperateunitwithoutthegrassdeflectorinplace
and in good condition.
Maintain a firm grip on both handles while trimming. Keep
stringheadbelowwaistlevel.Nevercutwiththestring
headlocatedover30in.ormoreabovetheground.
Store idle appliances indoors – When not in use, string
trimmer should be stored indoors in a dry, locked place
out of the reach of children.
Neveruseblades,flailingdevices,wire,orrope.Unitis
designed for line trimmer use only. Use of any other ac-
cessories or attachments will increase the risk of injury.
Inspectareatobecut.Removeobjects(rocks,broken
glass, nails, wire, string, etc.) which can be thrown or
become entangled in cutting head.
Keep the air vents clean and free of debris to avoid
overheatingthemotor.Cleanaftereachuse.
Stop the unit and disconnect the power source when not
in use. Carry the unit with the motor stopped.
Store out of the reach of children.
Keep hands and feet away from cutting area.
Do not hang unit so that the switch trigger is depressed.
Disconnect appliance – Disconnect the appliance from
thepowersupplywhennotinuse,beforeservicing,when
changing accessories.
Whenservicinguseonlyidenticalreplacementparts.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has
apolarizedplug(onebladeiswiderthantheother)and
willrequiretheuseofapolarizedextensioncord.The
applianceplugwillfitintoapolarizedextensioncordonly
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension
cord,reversetheplug.Iftheplugstilldoesnotfit,obtain
acorrectpolarizedextensioncord.Apolarizedextension
cordwillrequiretheuseofapolarizedwalloutlet.This
plugwillfitintothepolarizedwalloutletonlyoneway.If
theplugdoesnotfitfullyintothewalloutlet,reversethe
plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified elec-
trician to install the proper wall outlet. Do not change the
equipment plug, extension cord receptacle, or extension
cord plug in any way.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should
beprovidedonthecircuit(s)oroutlet(s)tobeusedforthe
gardeningappliance.Receptaclesareavailablehaving
built-in GFCI protection and may be used for this mea-
sure of safety.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only
with an extension cord intended for outdoor use, such as
an extension cord of cord type SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A,
STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A.
Extension Cord – Make sure your extension cord is in
good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to
useoneheavyenoughtocarrythecurrentyourproduct
willdraw.Anundersizedextensioncordwillcauseadrop
inlinevoltageresultinginlossofpowerandoverheating.
Awiregaugesize(A.W.G.)ofatleast16 is recommended
foranextensioncord50feetorlessinlength.Ifindoubt,
usethenextheaviergage.Thesmallerthegagenumber,
theheavierthecord.Toreducetheriskofdisconnection
of appliance cord from the extension cord during oper-
ating, secure the extension cord to the appliance plug
as described in the Operating Manual.
 Don’tAbuseCord–Nevercarryappliancebycordor
yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from
heat, oil, and sharp edges.
 Stopthe motor, wait until all moving partscometoa
completestop,andremovethebatterypackordiscon-
nect from power supply before cleaning or performing
any maintenance.
 Neverusewateroranyliquidstocleanorrinseoffyour
product and do not expose the product to rain or wet
conditions.Storeindoorsinadryarea.Corrosiveliquids,
water, and chemicals can enter the product’s electronic
componentsand/orbatterycompartmentanddamage
electroniccomponentsand/orthebatterypack,which
can result in a short circuit, increased risk of fire, and
seriouspersonalinjury.Removeanybuildupofdirtand
debris by wiping the product clean with a dry cloth oc-
casionally.

SPECIFIC RULES FOR BATTERY OPERATION
Batterytoolsdonothavetobepluggedintoanelectrical
outlet; therefore, they are always in operating condition.
Beawareofpossiblehazardswhennotusingyourbat-
tery tool or when changing accessories. Following this
rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious
personal injury.
Do not use battery-operated appliance in rain.
Removeordisconnectbatterybeforeservicing,cleaning
orremovingmaterialfromthegardeningappliance.
Use this product only with batteries and chargers listed
intool/appliance/batterypack/chargercorrelationsup-
plement995000850.
Store idle appliances – When not in use, string trimmer

Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cell may
explode. Check with local codes for possible special
disposal instructions.
Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electro-
lyteiscorrosiveandmaycausedamagetotheeyesor
skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.
Do not place battery tools or their batteries near fire or
heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion and possibly
injury.
Batteries can explode in the presence of a source of ig-
nition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious
personalinjury,neveruseanycordlessproductinthe
presence of open flame. An exploded battery can pro-
pel debris and chemicals. If exposed, flush with water
immediately.
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not
use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped or
receivedasharpblow.Adamagedbatteryissubjectto
explosion.Properlydisposeofadroppedordamaged
battery immediately.
Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short
the battery with conducting materials such as rings,
bracelets,andkeys.Thebatteryorconductormayover-
heat and cause burns.
Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery
leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact with your
skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If liquid
gets into your eyes, flush them with clean water for at
least10minutes,thenseekimmediatemedicalattention.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal
injury.
Savethese instructions. Refer to them frequently and
use them to instruct others who may use this power tool.
If you loan someone this power tool, loan them these
instructions also.

DOUBLE INSULATION
Double insulation is a concept in safety in electric power
tools, which eliminates the need for the usual three-wire
grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts are isolated
from the internal metal motor components with protect-
ing insulation. Double insulated tools do not need to be
grounded.
WARNING:
The double insulated system is intended to protect the
user from shock resulting from a break in the tool’s in-
ternalinsulation.Observeallnormalsafetyprecautions
toavoidelectricalshock.
NOTE: Servicingofaproductwithdoubleinsulationrequires
extreme care and knowledge of the system and should be
performedonlybyaqualifiedservicetechnician.Forservice,
wesuggestyoureturnthetooltoyournearestauthorized
servicecenterforrepair.Alwaysuseoriginalfactoryreplace-
mentpartswhenservicing.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
This product has a precision-built electric motor. It should be
connected to a power supply that is nominal 120V/60Hz
AC (typical U.S. household circuit). Except with battery
packinstalled,asubstantialvoltagedropwillcausealoss
ofpowerandthemotorwilloverheat.Ifyourproductdoes
not operate when plugged into an outlet, double-check the
power supply.
GFCI
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should
beprovidedonthecircuit(s)oroutlet(s)tobeusedforthe
product. Receptacles are available having built-in GFCI
protection and may be used for this measure of safety.
EXTENSION CORDS
When using a power product at a considerable distance from
a power source, be sure to use an extension cord that has
the capacity to handle the current the product will draw. An
undersizedcordwillcauseadropinlinevoltage,resultingin
overheatingandlossofpower.Usethecharttodetermine
theminimumwiresizerequiredinanextensioncord.Only
round jacketed cords listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories
(UL) should be used.
When working outdoors with a product, use an extension
cord that is designed for outside use. This type of cord is
designated with “W-A” or “W” on the cord’s jacket such
as an extension cord of cord type SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A,
STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A. or SJTOW-A.
Before using any extension cord, inspect it for loose or
exposed wires and cut or worn insulation.
Make sure the cord and extension cord are securely
attached as shown in fig. 5, then connect the plug end of
the power cord into the receptacle end of the extension
cord. Check that connection is secure.

the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual
as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting.

ATTACHING GRASS DEFLECTOR
See Figures 2 - 3.
WARNING:
The line cut-off blade on the grass deflector is sharp.
Avoidcontactwiththeblade.Failuretoavoidcontact
can result in serious personal injury.
Removethebagwithscrewsfromthegrassdeflector.
Fit the grass deflector onto the trimmer head.
Line up the screw holes in the grass deflector with the
holes in the trimmer head.
Install supplied screws and tighten by turning clockwise
withaPhillipsscrewdriver.
INSTALLING THE FRONT HANDLE
See Figure 4.
Loosen and remove the wing nut and bolt from the
handle.
Install the handle on the power head shaft at the location
indicated by the label on the shaft.
Adjust handle up or down, if necessary, to desired
operating position.
Reinstall the bolt and wing nut. Tighten wing nut to
secure.

OPERATION
WARNING:
Make sure the latch on the battery pack snaps in place
and the battery pack is fully seated and secure in the
trimmer battery port before beginning operation. Failure
to securely seat the battery pack could cause the battery
pack to fall out, resulting in serious personal injury.
INSTALLING/REMOVING THE BATTERY PACK
See Figure 5.

Insert the battery pack into the product as shown.
Make sure the latch on the battery pack snaps into
place and the battery pack is secured before beginning
operation.

STARTING/STOPPING THE TRIMMER (DC)
See Figures 5 - 6.
To start:
Slidepowerselectiondooroverpowerreceptacleuntil
it clicks into place.
Insert battery.
Pressandholdthelock-out.
Depress the switch trigger.
To stop:
Release the switch trigger to stop the motor.
Upon release of the switch trigger, the lock-out will
automatically reset to the locked position.
STARTING/STOPPING THE TRIMMER (AC)

To start:
Removebatterypackfromtrimmerifinstalled.
Slidepowerselectiondooroverbatteryportuntilitclicks
into place.
Route an extension cord loop through the opening behind
the rear handle and wrap around the cord retainer.
NOTICE:
Always use cord retainer to properly attach extension
cord to string trimmer. Failure to use cord retainer may
resultindamagetostringtrimmerand/orextensioncord.
Attach the outlet end of the extension cord to the plug
on the rear of the string trimmer.
NOTE: Useonlyapprovedoutdoorextensioncords.
Pressandholdthelock-out.
Depress the switch trigger.
To stop:
Release the switch trigger to stop the motor.
Upon release of the switch trigger, the lock-out will
automatically reset to the locked position.
TELESCOPING SHAFT
See Figure 9.
The shaft can be extended or shortened for ease of use.
Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power
supply.
Loosen the telescoping shaft coupler by turning it coun-
terclockwise. Slide the shaft to the desired position.
Tighten the coupler by turning clockwise. Make sure the
shaft is securely tightened before reinstalling the battery
pack or reconnecting to the power source.
OPERATING THE TRIMMER
See Figure 10.
Hold the trimmer with your right hand on the rear handle
and your left hand on the front handle.
Keep a firm grip with both hands while in operation.
Trimmer should be held at a comfortable position with
the rear handle about hip height.
Cuttallgrassfromthetopdown.Thiswillpreventgrass
from wrapping around the boom housing and string head
whichmaycausedamagefromoverheating.
If grass becomes wrapped around the string head:
Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power
supply.
Removethegrass.
WARNING:
Always hold the string trimmer away from the body
keeping clearance between the body and the string
trimmer. Any contact with the string trimmer cutting head
while operating can result in serious personal injury.
CUTTING TIPS
See Figure 11.
Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area being cut; this
is the best cutting area.
The string trimmer cuts when passing the unit from right
toleft.Thiswillavoidthrowingdebrisattheoperator.
Avoidcuttinginthedangerousareashowninfigure11.
Use the tip of the line to do the cutting; do not force string
head into uncut grass.

OPERATION
Wire and picket fences cause extra line wear, even
breakage. Stone and brick walls, curbs, and wood may
wear line rapidly.
Avoidtreesandshrubs.Treebark,woodmoldings,sid-
ing, and fence posts can easily be damaged by the line.
ADVANCING LINE
NOTE: The trimmer is equipped with an auto-feed head.
Bumpingtheheadtotrytoadvancethelinewilldamage
thetrimmerandvoidthewarranty.
With the trimmer running, release the switch trigger.
Wait two seconds, and press the switch trigger.
NOTE: Thelinewill extend approximately 1/4 in. with
each stop and start of the switch trigger until the line
reaches the length of the grass deflector cut-off blade.
Resume trimming.
ADVANCING THE LINE MANUALLY
See Figure 12.

or when trimming efficiency diminishes. This will maintain
bestperformanceandkeeplinelongenoughtoadvance
properly.

Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power

Loosenthebladescrewthenrotatetheblade180°.

SPOOL REPLACEMENT
See Figure 16.
Use only 0.065 in. diameter round, 0.065 in. twisted, or
0.080in.twistedmonofilamentline.Useoriginalmanufac-
turer’s replacement line for best performance.
Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power
supply.
Pushintabsonsideofspoolretainer.
Pullspoolretaineruptoremove.
Removetheoldspool.
To install the new spool, make sure the line is captured
in the slot on the new spool. Make sure the end of the
line is extended approximately 6 in. beyond the slot.
Install the new spool so that the line and slot align with the
eyelet in the string head. Thread the line into the eyelet.
Pullthelineextendingfromthestringheadsotheline
releases from the slot in the spool.
Reinstall the spool retainer by depressing tabs into slots
and pushing down until spool retainer clicks into place.
LINE REPLACEMENT
See Figures 16 - 17.
Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power
supply.
Removethespoolfromthestringhead.
NOTE: Removeanyoldlineremainingonthespool.
Cut a piece of line approximately 9 ft. long. Use only
0.065in.diameterround,0.065in.twisted,or0.080in.
twisted monofilament line.
Insert the line into the anchor hole in the upper part of the
spool. Wind the line around the upper part of the spool
clockwise,asshownbythearrowsonthespool.Place
lineintheslotonupperspoolflange,leavingabout6in.
extendedbeyondtheslot.Donotoverfill.Afterwinding
the line, there should be at least 1/4 in. between the
wound line and the outside edge of the spool.
Replace the plastic retainer, spool, and the spool retainer.
Refer to Spool Replacement earlier in this manual.
STORING THE TRIMMER
Remove the battery pack or disconnect from power
supply before storing.
Clean all foreign material from the trimmer.
Store it in a place that is inaccessible to children.

Pour réduire le risque de décharge électrique, ce produit
est muni d’une fiche polarisée (une lame plus large que
l’autre) devant être utilisée avec un cordon prolongateur
polarisé. La fiche de l’appareil peut être branchée à un
cordon prolongateur polarisé d’une seule façon. Si la fiche
ne s’insère pas complètement dans le cordon prolongateur,
l’inverser. Si la fiche ne peut toujours pas être insérée, se
procurer un cordon prolongateur polarisé approprié. Un
cordon prolongateur polarisé exige l’utilisation d’une prise
murale polarisée. Cette fiche peut être branchée à une prise
murale polarisée d’une seule façon. Si la fiche ne s’insère
pas complètement dans la prise, l’inverser. Si la fiche ne
peut toujours pas être insérée, faire installer une prise
murale adéquate par un électricien qualifié. Ne modifier en
aucune façon la prise de l’appareil, le réceptacle du cordon
prolongateur ou la fiche du cordon prolongateur.
Les circuits et prises sur lesquels cet appareil de jardinage
est branché doivent être protégés par un disjoncteur
différentiel. Des prises à disjoncteur différentiel sont en
vente dans le commerce et peuvent être utilisées à titre de
sécurité.
AVERTISSEMENT – Pour réduire le risque de décharge
électrique, utiliser seulement avec un cordon prolongateur

RÈGLES PARTICULIÈRES CONCERNANT L’UTILISATION DE LA PILE
Les outils fonctionnant sur piles n’ayant pas besoin d’être
branchés sur une prise de courant, ils sont toujours
en état de fonctionnement. Tenir compte des dangers
possibles lorsque l’produit n’est pas en usage et lors du
remplacement des piles. Le respect de cette consigne
réduira les risques d’incendie, de choc électrique et de
blessures graves.
Ne pas utiliser un appareil alimenté par pile sous la pluie.
Retirer ou débrancher la pile avant l’entretien ou le
nettoyage de l’produit de jardin ou avant d’en retirer des
matériaux.
Utiliser ce produit seulement avec la piles et le chargeurs
indiqués dans le supplément de raccordement pour
chargeur/outils/piles/appareil n˚ 995000850.
Ranger les appareils qui ne sont pas utilisés – lorsque
le taille-bordure n’est pas utilisé, le ranger à l’intérieur
dans un endroit sec et verrouillé hors de la portée des
enfants.
Ne pas jeter les piles au feu. La cellule peut exploser.
Vérifier les codes locaux pour connaître toute instruction
spéciale relative à l’élimination des piles.
Ne pas altérer le bloc piles. L’électrolyte est un produit
corrosif pouvant causer des lésions cutanées ou
oculaires. Il peut être toxique en cas d’ingestion.
Ne pas placer les outils électriques sans fil ou leurs piles
à proximité de flammes ou d’une source de chaleur. Ceci
réduira les risques d’explosion et de blessures.
Les piles peuvent exploser en présence d’une source
d’allumage, telle qu’une veilleuse. Pour réduire les
risques de blessures graves, ne jamais utiliser un appareil
sans fil, quel qu’il soit, en présence d’une flamme
vive. En explosant, une pile peut projeter des débris
et des produits chimiques. En cas d’exposition, rincer
immédiatement les parties atteintes avec de l’eau.
Ne pas écraser, faire tomber ou endommager le bloc
piles. Ne jamais utiliser un bloc piles ou un chargeur
qui est tombé, a été écrasé, a reçu un choc violent ou a
été endommagé de quelque façon que ce soit. Une pile
endommagée risque d’exploser. Éliminer immédiatement
toute pile endommagée, selon une méthode appropriée.
Manipuler les piles avec soin pour éviter des courts
circuits avec des objets conducteurs comme des
anneaux, des bracelets et des clés. La pile ou l’objet
conducteur peuvent surchauffer et causer des brûlures.
Si l’produit est utilisé de façon intensive ou sous des
températures extrêmes, des fuites de pile peuvent se
produire. En cas de contact du liquide avec la peau,
rincez immédiatement la partie atteinte avec de l’eau
savonneuse. En cas d’éclaboussure dans les yeux,
rincez-les à l’eau fraîche pendant au moins 10 minutes,
puis contactez immédiatement un médecin. Le respect
de cette consigne réduira les risques de blessures
graves.
Conserver ces instructions. Les consulter fréquemment et
les utiliser pour instruire les autres utilisateurs éventuels.
Si cet produit est prêté, il doit être accompagné de ces
instructions.

DOUBLE ISOLATION
La double isolation est un dispositif de sécurité utilisé sur les
outils à moteur électriques, éliminant le besoin de cordon
d’alimentation habituel à trois fils avec terre. Toutes les pièces
métalliques exposées sont isolées des composants internes
du moteur par l’isolation protectrice. Les produits à double
isolation ne nécessitent pas de mise à la terre.
AVERTISSEMENT :
Le système à double isolation est conçu pour protéger
l’utilisateur contre les chocs électriques causés par une
rupture de l’isolation interne de l’outil. Prendre toutes les
précautions de sécurité normales pour éviter les chocs
électriques.
NOTE : La réparation d’un produit à double isolation exigeant
des précautions extrêmes ainsi que la connaissance du
système, elle ne doit être confiée qu’à un réparateur qualifié.
En ce qui concerne les réparations, nous recommandons de
confier l’produit au centre de réparation le plus proche. Utiliser
exclusivement des pièces d’origine pour les réparations.
CONNEXIONS ÉLECTRIQUES
Cet produit est équipé d’un moteur électrique de précision.
Elle doit être branchée uniquement sur une caractéristique
nominale de l’alimentation électrique CA est de 120 V/
60 Hz (circuit électrique domestique américain typique).
Sauf lorsque le bloc-piles est installé, une baisse de tension
considérable peut causer une perte de puissance et provoquer
la surchauffe du moteur. Si l’produit ne fonctionne pas une fois
branché, vérifier l’alimentation électrique.
GFCI
Les circuits et prises sur lesquels cet produit est branché
doivent être protégés par un disjoncteur différentiel. Des
prises à disjoncteur différentiel sont en vente dans le commerce
et peuvent être utilisées à titre de sécurité.
CORDONS PROLONGATEURS
Lors de l’utilisation d’un produit électrique à grande distance
d’une prise secteur, veiller à utiliser un cordon prolongateur
d’une capacité suffisante pour supporter l’appel de courant
de l’produit. Un cordon de capacité insuffisante causerait une
baisse de la tension de ligne, entraînant une perte de puissance
et une surchauffe. Se reporter au tableau ci-dessous pour
déterminer le calibre minimum de fil requis pour un cordon
donné. Utiliser exclusivement des cordons à gaine cylindrique
homologués par Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL).
Pour le travail à l’extérieur, utiliser un cordon prolongateur
spécialement conçu à cet effet. Ce type de cordon porte
l’inscription « W-A » ou « W » sur sa gaine, par exemple une
rallonge de type « SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A, STOW-A, SJW-A,
SJOW-A, SJTW-A ou SJTOW-A ».
Avant d’utiliser un cordon prolongateur, vérifier que ses fils
ne sont ni détachés ni exposés et que son isolation n’est ni
coupée, ni usée.
S’assurer que le cordon d’alimentation et le cordon prolongateur
sont fixés fermement, comme montré à l’illustration 5, puis
brancher la fiche du cordon d’alimentation dans le réceptacle
du cordon prolongateur. Vérifiez que la connexion est sécurisée.

AVERTISSEMENT :
Maintenir le cordon prolongateur à l’écart de la zone de
travail. Lors du travail avec un cordon électrique, placer le
cordon de manière à ce qu’il ne risque pas de se prendre
dans les pièces de bois, produits et autres obstacles. Ne
pas prendre cette précaution peut entraîner des blessures
graves.
AVERTISSEMENT :
Vérifier l’état des cordons prolongateurs avant chaque
utilisation. Remplacer immédiatement tout cordon
endommagé. Ne jamais utiliser un produit dont le cordon
d’alimentation est endommagé, car tout contact avec la

Pour réduire le risque de décharge électrique, ce produit est
muni d’une fiche polarisée (une lame plus large que l’autre)
devant être utilisée avec un cordon prolongateur polarisé. La
fiche de l’appareil peut être branchée à un cordon prolongateur
polarisé d’une seule façon. Si la fiche ne s’insère pas
complètement dans le cordon prolongateur, l’inverser. Si la
fiche ne peut toujours pas être insérée, se procurer un cordon
prolongateur polarisé approprié. Un cordon prolongateur
polarisé exige l’utilisation d’une prise murale polarisée. Cette
fiche peut être branchée à une prise murale polarisée d’une
seule façon. Si la fiche ne s’insère pas complètement dans la
prise, l’inverser. Si la fiche ne peut toujours pas être insérée,
faire installer une prise murale adéquate par un électricien
qualifié. Ne modifier en aucune façon la prise de l’appareil,
le réceptacle du cordon prolongateur ou la fiche du cordon
prolongateur.
AVERTISSEMENT :
Pour réduire le risque de décharge électrique, utiliser
seulement avec un cordon prolongateur conçu pour être
utilisé à l’extérieure comme un cordon prolongateur portant
