1. "Low Bat" indicator: the symbol for an almost empty battery.
If this symbol appears on the screen, the battery should be
replaced, see section 2.3.1.
2. Display of the measured illuminance. When the number ‘1’
appears in the display the chosen measurement range is too
small, switch to a broader measuring range.

1 Introduction
Chickens see more light than humans. They can see ultraviolet
light,
making them see objects differently than humans (such as
food, surrounding area and eachother). The chicken eye is more
sensitive to light than the human eye, illuminance levels are ex-
perienced higher by chickens than by humans. Light meters are
tuned to the light spectrum as man sees it. Because of this, light
intensity for chickens is lower than measured.

Measuring Gallilux gives the possibility to check the light inten-
sity for chickens. It might just be that two lighting sources both
for example generate 20 Lux, but that both sources generate
different Gallilux values.

2.1 Terms of use
The Galli-Luxmeter is developed for measuring white light sour-
ces with a wide spectrum. The Galli-Luxmeter is intended for
indoor use. The housing of the Galli-Luxmeter is not waterproof,
direct contact with water or damp situations must be avoided.
Store the Galli-Luxmeter in a dry environment. The Galli-Luxme-
ter should not be heated too strongly, keep sufcient distance
from light sources that emit a lot of heat, the maximum tempe-
rature is 40°C.

2.2 Measuring
Important!
Gallilux can be measured to a maximum of 2000 Gallilux!
Higher values are not measurable. Measured Gallilux values
in the range 2000-20.000 Gallilux are not correct, but Lux
values are correct.
Point the sensor of the Galli-Luxmeter to the light source. In the
range, 200 Gallilux/Lux the measurement result can be read di-
rectly off the display (drawing 1: item 2). In the range up to 2000
Lux, values must be multiplied by 10. If the measured Lux value
exceeds the measurement range, the gure ‘1’ will appear in the
display and it will be necessary to measure again but with the
switch in a higher range position. After measuring, switch off
the Galli-Luxmeter by turning the switch in the OFF position.
2.3 Maintenance
2.3.1 How to change the battery
The Galli-Luxmeter is equipped with a built-in 12V alkaline bat-
tery type: A23. When the icon for empty battery appears in the
display (drawing 1: item 1), the battery should be replaced to
ensure accurate measurement.
Replace the battery as follows:
• Put the Galli-Luxmeter in the OFF position.
• Remove the screw at the back of the enclosure with a prop
er
size Philips screw driver and carefully remove the back casing.
• Carefully remove the battery and replace it with the new battery
of the same type. Make sure that the poles are in the right posi-
tion.
• Place the rear back and screw it on again.

2.3.2 Cleaning
• Do not use chemical and/or ordinary cleaning products,
this will damage the Galli-Luxmeter.
• Only use a slightly damp or dry cotton cloth. To optimize the
performance it is recommended that the sensor lens (draw-
ing 1: item 3) is kept clean.
2.3.3 Calibrate
To ensure correct Gallilux and Lux values it is recommended to
calibrate the Galli-Luxmeter once a year in the Hato laboratory.
Ask for the conditions, see chapter 7.
3 Warranty
The warranty period is 24 months from the date of purchase.The
warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, and acci-
dents. If the Buyer repairs the goods itself within the specied
warranty period, the warranty will lapse with immediate effect and
all subsequent costs will be at the Buyer’s expense. For our com-

information.
4 Environmental care
This product features the logo with a crossed-out wheelie bin.
This means that the product is covered by the European Di-
rective 2002/96/EC. Please obtain information about the local
separate collection system for electrical and electronic products.

old products with your normal household waste. The correct
disposal of your old products helps to prevent potentially harm-
ful effects on the environment and human health.
Your product contains batteries covered by the European Direc-
tive 2006/66/EC, which cannot be disposed with normal
household waste. Please obtain information about the local
rules on separate collection of batteries. Correct disposal con-
tributes to preventing possible negative consequences for the
environment and human health.

dit teken op het scherm verschijnt, moet de batterij vervang-
en worden, zie hoofdstuk 2.3.1.

1 Inleiding
Kippen kunnen meer zien dan mensen. Ze zien onder andere ultraviolet
licht waardoor ze objecten (zoals voer, omgeving en elkaar) anders zien
dan mensen. Het kippenoog is gevoeliger voor licht dan het mense-
noog, waardoor lichtsterktes door kippen als hoger ervaren worden dan
het door mensen is. Lichtsterktemeters zijn afgestemd op het licht-
spectrum zoals de mens dit ziet, waardoor lichtmetingen in stallen de
lichtsterkte voor kippen onderschat. (Bron: Animal Sciences Group

Het meten van Gallilux geeft de mogelijkheid om de verlichting
voor kippen te controleren. Het kan zo zijn dat twee verlich-
tingsbronnen beide bijvoorbeeld 20 Lux genereren, maar dat
beide bronnen andere Gallilux waardes hebben.

2.1 Gebruiksvoorwaarden
De Galli-Luxmeter is ontwikkeld voor het meten van witte licht-
bronnen met een breed spectrum. De Galli-Luxmeter is bedoeld
om binnen te gebruiken. De behuizing van de Galli-Luxmeter is
niet waterdicht, direct contact met water of vochtige situaties
moet vermeden worden. Bewaar de Galli-Luxmeter in een droge
omgeving. De Galli-Luxmeter mag niet te sterk verwarmd wor-
den, houd voldoende afstand tot lichtbronnen die veel warmte
uitstralen, het maximum is 40°C.
2.2 Meten
Belangrijk!
Gallilux kan worden gemeten tot en met het bereik 2000!
Hogere waardes zijn niet meetbaar. Gemeten Gallilux waar-
des in het bereik 2000-20.000 Gallilux zijn niet correct, Lux
waardes zijn wel correct!
Richt de sensor van de Galli-Luxmeter naar de lichtbron. In het
bereik, 200 Gallilux/Lux is het meetresultaat direct af te lezen op
het display (tekening 1: item 2). In het meetbereik tot 2000 moet
de Lux waarde in het display met 10 vermenigvuldigd worden.
Als de gemeten Lux waarde buiten het meetbereik valt, zal er
links in de display een ‘1’ verschijnen en zal opnieuw gemeten
moeten worden met de schakelaar in een hogere stand. Schakel
na het meten de Galli-Luxmeter uit door de schakelaar in de OFF
stand te draaien.

2.3.1 Het vervangen van de batterij
De Galli-Luxmeter is voorzien van een ingebouwde 12V alka-
line batterij type: A23. Wanneer het icoontje “Low Bat”. in het
scherm verschijnt (tekening 1: item 1), moet de batterij vervan-
gen worden om nauwkeurig meten te garanderen.
Vervang de batterij als volgt:
• Zet de Galli-Luxmeter in de OFF stand.
• Verwijder de schroef aan de achterzijde van de behuizing
met een juiste maat kruiskop schroevendraaier. Verwijder
voorzichtig de achterzijde van de behuizing.
• Verwijder voorzichtig de batterij en vervang deze door een
nieuwe batterij van het zelfde type. Zorg ervoor dat de
polen op de juiste positie zitten.
• Plaats de achterzijde terug en schroef deze weer vast.
2.3.2 Schoonmaken
• Gebruik geen chemische en/of gewone schoonmaakmidde-
len, dit zal de Galli-Luxmeter beschadigen.
• Gebruik alleen een licht vochtige of droge katoenen doek.
Voor een optimaal functioneren wordt aanbevolen de
sensorlens (tekening 1 item 3) schoon te houden.
2.3.3 Kalibreren
Om verzekerd te zijn van correct gemeten Gallilux- en Luxwaar-
des wordt aanbevolen om de Galli-Luxmeter eens per jaar in het
Hato laboratorium te laten kalibreren, informeer naar de voor-
waarden. Zie hoofdstuk 7 voor meer informatie.

3 Garantie
De garantieperiode bedraagt 24 maanden vanaf aankoopdatum. De
garantie dekt geen schade veroorzaakt door verkeerd gebruik en on-
gevallen. Indien Koper de geleverde goederen binnen de opgegeven
garantieperiode zelf repareert, zal per direct de garantie vervallen, alle
kosten zijn hierna voor Koper. Voor onze complete garantievoorwaar-
den verwijzen wij naar onze algemene voorwaarden die gratis bij Hato
BV kunnen worden opgevraagd. Zie hoofdstuk 7 voor meer informatie.
4 Zorg voor het mileu
Dit product is voorzien van het logo met een doorkruiste afval
container. Dit betekent dat het product valt onder de EU-richt-
lijn 2002/96/EG. Informeer naar het plaatselijke systeem voor
het gescheiden inzamelen van elektrische en elektronische
producten. Houd u aan de plaatselijke regels en gooi uw oude
producten niet met uw gewone huishoudelijk afval weg. Een
goede afvalverwerking van uw oude producten draagt bij aan
het voorkomen van mogelijke schadelijke gevolgen voor het
milieu en de volksgezondheid.
Uw product bevat batterijen die, overeenkomstig de Europe-
se richtlijn 2006/66/EG, niet bij het gewone huishoudelijk afval
mogen worden weggegooid. Informeer u over de lokale regels
inzake de gescheiden inzameling van gebruikte batterijen.
Een goede afvalverwerking draagt bij aan het voorkomen van
mogelijke schadelijke gevolgen voor het milieu en de volksge-
zondheid.
