A-1 CONTROL PANEL – OVERVIEW
SWITCHES
Emergency Stop Button
The “Emergency Stop” mushroom-head button is located on the top of
the control panel. In the event of an emergency, push down on the
“Emergency Stop” button to de-energize the control circuit of the saw.
This will disable all control operations. To restore power, twist the button
clockwise to the raised position and initiate the start-up procedure.
Note: When using the “Emergency Stop” button power will still be
present in the saw, to completely de-energize the saw turn OFF the
“MAIN DISCONNECT” switch located on the High Voltage Junction
Box.
Start Switch
The spring-loaded “POWER ON” switch is used to energize the
Control Panel. After main disconnect switch is turn to “ON” and the
“Emergency Stop” button has been raised the control can be energized
by moving the POWER “START” switch to the “START” position.
The “POWER ON” light above the POWER “START” switch will
illuminate when active.

Parts Counter
Set the “PART COUNTER” for the quantity of parts desired on the top
row. The bottom row of numbers counts the quantity of parts cut of the
desired quantity. To reset the upper row to change the part quantity for
another job, press the small buttons above each number to set each
column to zero by pressing the button until the readout reaches zero or to
the desired quantity. Clear the parts cut row (lower row of numbers) by
pressing the larger button on the bottom. For more information on using
the Parts Counter refer to the “PARTS COUNTER” section of this
manual.
Auto Switch
The “AUTO” switch has three positions; “AUTO” at the top,
“NEUTRAL” in the center, and “FEED” on the bottom. Before
changing the part length, move the “AUTO” switch down to the
“FEED” position. This will move the Bar-Feed forward. Put the
“AUTO” switch in “NEUTRAL” to energize the control. When
preparing to run the machine in an automatic cutting sequence
place the switch in the “AUTO” position.
Out-of-Stock Indicator
The “OUT-OF-STOCK” switch will be triggered if the bar
clamp (feed vise) closes without material. When this occurs
the saw motor shuts off, the arm will retract and the indicator
light will illuminate. To clear the light and resume saw
operators press the spring-loaded “POWER” switch to the
“START” position.
Broken Blade Indicator
The Broken Blade light illuminates when the blade breaks or
the blade tension is reduced when changing blades. To reset
the Broken Blade function and clear the indicator light,
replace or tension the blade as required then move the spring-
loaded “POWER” switch to the “START” position.

Safety Start Buttons (SIDEWINDER A-1
ONLY)
Saw functions, such as starting the band motor,
and starting the automatic cutting sequence, are
controlled through a safety circuit that requires
the operator to have both hands on the control.
The SAFETY "START" buttons are used in
conjunction with many of the saw’s actions.
These actions will be described throughout the
manual.
Motor Switch
The “MOTOR” switch has three positions that control the band
motor which operates the blade. To manually start the band
motor place the Motor switch in the “ON” position. To turn the
band motor off place the Motor switch in the “OFF” position.
The Motor Switch must be in the “NEUTRAL” or center
position to energize the control.
Arm Switch
The “ARM” switch has three positions that control the
operation of the saw arm. The “AUTO” position sets the arm to
operate automatically during an automatic cutting sequence.
The “NEUTRAL” or center position allows the arm to lower
down into the cutting area or to energize the control. The
“LIFT” position raises the arm out of the cutting area and up to
the upper stop limit.
Clamp Switch
The “CLAMP” switch has three positions that control the
operation of the saw vise. The “AUTO” position sets the clamp
to operate automatically during an automatic cutting sequence.
Move the switch to the “CLOSE” position to close the clamp
during a manual cut. The Clamp switch must be in the
“NEUTRAL” or center position to power up the Control.

Blade Speed Display
The LED read out will display the current speed of the
blade in “feet per minute”.
NOTE: Be aware that the small buttons under the blade
speed read-out are used to program the display.

Blade Speed Buttons
To increase the blade speed, press the “FAST” button and to
decrease the blade speed press the “SLOW” button. The
blade speed will be indicated on the “BLADE SPEED”
display.
Laser Light Buttons (OPTIONAL – not available on all models)
A laser light illuminates a line either above or below where the blade will
enter the material for the cut. Press the “LASER LIGHT” button on the
control panel to turn the laser on and press the button a second time to
turn the laser off. A beam will illuminate the cutting area for
approximately 1 minute. A line on the material will display the blade’s
path.
