Preparation
Most “Y” model machines will use a reader with slanted mounting bracket
de-signed to work with the angled console on the rear control area of the
machine. In the case of front-control or stacked units, the appropriate reader
will have a flat bracket installed for correct alignment of the card reader.
In addition to the card reader, the kit should also contain the MDC wiring
harness and, small “Reader Present Jumper”, and all required mounting
hardware.Although there are significant differences between the washer and
dryer control boards, the connectors on the board and installation
components are the same.
Please note that without the Reader Present Jumper the machine’s control
board will not recognize the card reader and will fail to operate. This is true
for all varieties of MDC equipment.
Installation
1Open the backsplash on the
machine by removing the two
screws on the top of the panel.
2Lower the panel and locate
the four mounting studs near
the right side of the panel.

Installation
3Install the reader on the four
mounting studs being certain that
the reader is correctly oriented so
that the plastic card bezel on the
front of the reader fits through the
card slot opening in the front of
the panel. Do not over-tighten.
4Attach the card reader cable to the
card reader as shown. The locking tab
on the harness connector should be
aligned with the small protrusion on
top of the reader connector. Press the
connector in place until the tab locks.
5Connect the white Molex connector
on the opposite end to the machine’s
control board at the interface
connector shown as “B” at right. Now
install the “Reader Present Jumper”
at the location marked “A” at right.

6Close the back panel on the machine while ensuring
that none of the wiring is pinched between the front
panel and the console housing. Replace the two panel
screws and tighten them snugly..

Programming & Testing
Programming
Connect power to the machine and verify that the machine displays a
normal startup sequence without errors.
When the startup sequence is complete, the display should indicate
“F-62”.
You may now program the device using the following cards:
1. Insert the System Key Card into the card reader . Remove when
prompted.
2. Insert the Price & Configuration Card into the card reader .
Remove when prompted.
3. Insert the Sitecode Definition Card into the card reader .
Remove when prompted.
Testing
Insert a Debit Maintenance Card or User Card into the card reader.
F 74 –This requires the correct programming and configuration card.
F 03 –This requires the correct Programming and Configuration card.
Off - Requires power cycle.
