Details needed to congure the NetMonitor
The NetMonitor must be connected to your router via the Ethernet cable provided.
If you wish to congure the NetMonitor directly to a pc without using a router, then you will need a Crossover
Ethernet cable. (Not Supplied)
To congure the NetMonitor you need to obtain the following information:
• IP address of your router
• Subnet Mask of your network
• Router DHCP range
• IP Address of the NetMonitor - The default IP address of the NetMonitor is 192.168.0.168
The IP address of your router is usually printed on the router. If it’s not, follow the steps below to obtain your router
IP address;
• Click the windows icon
• In the search bar type CMD
• Then click on the command prompt
• Then type IPCONFIG, and press Enter
You now need to make a note of the following information:
• IPv4 Address - Current IP of your PC
• Subnet Mask
• Default Gateway - IP address of your router
Is your PC in the same range as the NetMonitor?
For example, does your PC’s IP address start 192.168.0
If the answer is NO (your IP is in a dierent range), you need to temporarily change the IP address of your PC so that
the two devices can communicate with each other.
Your PC must be connected to the router via Ethernet cable. If the IP address of both the PC & NetMonitor are in
dierent ranges, you cannot congure the NetMonitor on a wireless connection.
Once you can connect to the NetMonitor, you can then change its IP address so that it is within your network range.
DHCP Support
In most cases DHCP will be enabled on your router; which means the router will automatically assign an IP address
to a device that connects to the network.
The Netmonitor does not support DHCP because the IP address of the NetMonitor must be xed. It has to be xed
otherwise connection over the internet to the NetMonitor would not be possible.
By way of example; let’s assume that your router DHCP range is 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.100
This means you can congure the NetMonitor with any IP address outside of this range without risking any conict
with other devices on your network. So for example, any address from 192.168.0.101
Obtain Your Router IP address
Manually change your PC’s IP address
1. Click the Windows icon
2. Open Control Panel
3. Open Network & Sharing Centre
4. Click Local Area Connection (indicated above)
5. Click Properties
6. Click Internet Protocol Version 4
7. Click Properties
There are two options available:
Obtain an IP address automat-
ically or Use the following IP
address.
If your PC is congured to
automatically obtain an IP
address from the router, you will
see this screen.

Your PC may be selected to Use the following IP address. If so apply the IP address 192.168.0.167 and the Subnet
mask 255.255.255.0 as shown in the image below. Press OK on this screen and the next screen to store these
settings. You will return to this screen again shortly to restore the settings back to their original values.
Make a note of your original IP address and Subnet mask settings before making any changes.
Manual IP Address Selection
Click the Windows icon.
In the search bar type ping 192.168.0.168
If you see reply from 192.168.0.168 4 times, your PC can successfully communicate with & the Netmonitor.
If you see a Request Time Out error, please read the steps below.
This error occurs when your PC & NetMonitor are not in the same IP address range. It simply means the two devices
cannot communicate with each other.
You need to check the following:
• Your PC’s wireless connection is turned o.
• Your PC is hard wired via Ethernet cable to the router.
• Your PC’s IP address is in the same range as the NetMonitor.
• The NetMonitor is powered on.
Once you have veried all of the above information, repeat the ping procedure.
Test Connection to NetMonitor (Ping Procedure)
Logging into the NetMonitor
Open your preferred web browser. In the address
bar type the default IP address of the NetMonitor
192.168.0.168
The browser will then display the login screen of
the NetMonitor.
When prompted, enter the default username
and password, both are admin.
SMS Set-up (Netmonitor+ Only)
Click SMS setup.
The Heatmiser NetMonitor + can store 6 mobile phone numbers.
Activated alarms will be sent to the mobile numbers enabled in this list.
Accessing the NetMonitor over the Internet
Port Forwarding
Within the router you will have a rewall which is designed to block unwanted incoming Internet trac. This
means that you will not be able to access the NetMonitor without adjusting the conguration of your router.
To gain remote access to the NetMonitor, you need to congure Port Forwarding within your router.
You should forward port 80 to the IP address of your Netmonitor. (Web browser access)
You should forward port 8078 to the IP address of your Netmonitor. (App access)
Please consult your router manufacturer or instruction manual for more information on how to set-up port
forwarding.
When your router connects to the internet you are automatically assigned an IP address by your internet
provider. This IP address can either be xed or dynamic.
To nd out what your IP address is; open your preferred web browser, using the Google search engine, type:
What is my IP?
This will show your current IP address. You would need to check with your internet provider if this is xed or
dynamic. If the IP address is xed, then connecting to your system would be easy as you would use the same
IP address every time. If the IP address changes, then connecting to the system would be almost impossible.
This is when a service called Dynamic DNS would be used instead.
Dynamic DNS is a method of updating a Domain or host name to point to an ever changing IP address.
For example you could create the host name johnsmith.dyndns.org, the DNS service in this example would
be DYNDNS.com. It’s their job to nd out what your IP address is every time it changes, so connecting to your
system will be easy by using the host name you have created. Your router will have a Dynamic DNS section
and within this section there will be recommended DNS clients. Setup an account with one of these DNS
clients and you can then use the host name you create to access the NetMonitor remotely.

Checking the NetMonitors IP address
Select Network Setup from the menu.
You will now see the current network conguration for the
NetMonitor.
Security Setup.
To secure your NetMonitor, enter the username & password
you would like to use when you access via web browser.
Network Setup.
IP Address – This is the IP address you are assigning to the
NetMonitor, this needs to be in the same range as your router.
Subnet Mask – Enter the subnet mask of your network
Gateway – This needs to be the IP address of your router
DNS – This needs to be the IP address of your Domain Name
Server, usually the IP of your router.
Time Setup.
Enter the current time, date & select if you would like to clocks
to alter automatically for GMT updates.
APP Pin Access.
Enter a four digit pin number, this is used when you access
your system via the smartphone or tablet application.
Save – Save changes made to the Network Setup screen.
Reset – Resets all details back to the last stored settings.
Reset System – This will reboot the NetMonitor hardware.
Note: It is important to correctly set the Gateway and DNS.
Thermostat Set-up
Prior to conguring the NetMonitor, you must assign a unique comms number to each thermostat on your system. This is done at each
individual thermostat. On the thermostat, access the feature menu and assign a unique comms number on feature 06.
For example if you have 12 thermostats on the system, access feature 06 on each one numbering them 1-12.
Make a note of the comms number and room so you can rename the room titles on the NetMonitor.
Adding thermostats
Enter the communications numbers you want to add, for example, to add 12 thermostats enter From: 1 To: 12 then click add.
Renaming the Thermostat
Type the new room title in the title box next to the communications number.
Deleting a Series of Thermostats
Enter the communications numbers you want to delete, for example From: 1 To: 12, then press Delete.
Press Update NetMonitor to store any changes.
Sensor Set-up
For each sensor connected you have the ability to enter a title, enable sensor alarm, plus congure High and Low Limit
Temperatures. The NetMonitor can also be set to enable one of the 12 volt Relay Outputs should the High or Low limit be
reached.
SMS - This function only applies when using the NetMonitor +.
Enabling this means the NetMonitor + will send a text message if either the High or Low limit is reached.
Email - Enabling this means the NetMonitor will send an Email if either the High or Low limit is reached.
Calibration - used to re-calibrate the temperature sensor if required.
Click Save to store any changes.
The example above is congured as follows:
When Out Building temperature falls below 12°C, relay output number 1 will be enabled and a text message & email will be sent.

You can connect up to 6 Heatmiser sensors to the NetMonitor for monitoring purposes.
A table below describes the sensors available.
Sensor Part Number Description
Heatmiser Internal Sensor Used to measure air sensor, for internal use only
Heatmiser Immersion Sensor Used to measure water ow temperature
Supplied with a pocket for immersing the probe in to pipe-work
Heatmiser Clamp On Sensor Used to measure water temperature in
pipes. Designed to clamp on to the outside of pipe-work.
Heatmiser External Sensor Used to measure external air temperature
Important: A 5°C dierential applies to the sensor alarms. Assume you set a low limit of 12C. The NetMonitor
will send an email and/or text message as soon as the temperature drops to 12°C. The temperature will then
need to rise to 17C and drop back to 12°C before the alarm is retriggered. The same dierential applies applies
for a high limit temperature.
Input Set-up
The NetMonitor has 6 inputs which can be used for various applications. For example, wiring your security system
to the NetMonitor means that you can receive notication by email/sms, should your alarm be triggered.
To set-up the NetMonitor Inputs, follow these steps.
Click Input Setup, you will see a screen like this.
• You can now enter the title for each input on the NetMonitor.
• Select whether the input is a normally open or a normally closed contact.
• Enable or disable the SMS* and Email notication when an input is made (*NetMonitor + Only).
• Congure the NetMonitor to enable one of the 12 volt relay outputs when an input is made.
• Click Save to store any changes made.
Output Set-up
The Heatmiser NetMonitor has six 12volt relay outputs
which can be used for various applications.
Click Output Setup.
You can now enter a title for each 12v output.
Click Save to store changes.
Email Set-up
Click Email Setup.
You must enter the details in
the elds as shown here.
These settings will be provided
to you by your ISP.
The Heatmiser NetMonitor
has 6 email address settings.
Activated alarms will be sent
to the addresses enabled in
the list.
Click Save to store changes.
Reset Network Settings
This function will reset the IP address, username & password settings.
Follow the steps below:
• Press and hold down the Reset IP button until the LEDs on the small plugin ethernet board stop
ashing.
• When the LEDs stop ashing, release the button and the NetMonitor will reboot with the default IP
address and username/password.

Logging into your NetMonitor
Within your Local Network.
Open your preferred web browser and enter the IP address of your NetMonitor in the address bar.
Remotely over the Internet.
To access your NetMonitor remotely over the internet, you will have to forward two ports in your router:
Port 80 - for web browser access & Port 8078 - for smartphone/tablet app access.
See the Technical Setup Guide for more information on port forwarding. Once you’ve congured port forwarding,
open your preferred internet browser and enter the WAN IP of your router or your DNS host name. If you have
congured this correctly, you should see the screen
opposite.
Default Settings
User Name: admin
Password: admin
To ensure the security of your system, we recommend
you set your own username & password.
Here you can see the Room Name, Comms Number, Actual & Set Temperature, Heat & HW/timer output status.
When you have logged into your NetMonitor you will be presented with the Quick view screen as shown below.
Quick View
The temperature override function allows you to set a desired temperature and apply it to individual rooms or an
entire group. Each room selected will maintain this new temperature until the next programmed comfort level.
Manual Setback
The manual setback function allows you to place individual rooms
or an entire group into frost protection mode. Each room selected
will maintain the frost temperature setting programmed within
each thermostat.
To enable manual setback, follow these steps;
• To set individual rooms into setback mode, simply tick the
rooms and then press Apply.
• To set a group of rooms into setback, select the group in the
pull down list and then press Apply.
(See Groups for more information on adding or deleting a group.)
Live View
The Live View allows you to quickly see the status of any thermostat
connected to your NetMonitor.
The Live View is a separate frame that can be refreshed
independently from the main screen. You can see the Actual and
Set temperature, plus the Output and the system status (Home/
Away/Holiday). In the Live View, you can set the run mode between
Heating and Frost. In frost mode, the thermostat will maintain the
frost setback temperature (see the thermostat manual for details on
how to set the frost temperature).
Home/Away Function
Going Away? The NetMonitor has a function that allows you to place your entire system into Away mode. In this
mode, the heating will maintain the frost setback temperature and the hot water will be turned o. To enable the
Away function – click the Away tab.
Arrived Home? When you arrive home - press the “Home” tab. This will cancel the away mode and will switch the
thermostats back to their programmed setting. If you have a Touchpad on the same system, you can also enable or
disable the Home/Away function from this device.
Input/Output View
The Output View displays the status for each output.
Using the output drop down menu you can toggle
the outputs on or o.
Here the NetMonitor will display the current state
of the inputs, if any inputs are made the display will
show Active.

Copy Function
Pressing Copy will allow you to copy the switching times from one thermostat to other individual thermostats or to
a group of thermostats. To copy to other individual thermostats, simply tick the thermostats you want to copy to and
then press Apply. To copy to a group of thermostats, select the group in the pull down list at the top and then press
Apply (See the Groups section for more information on adding or deleting groups).
Pressing Program Schedule allows you to program the comfort levels / switching times for each thermostat
connected to your NetMonitor.
The Program Schedule view will change depending on the model of the thermostat being controlled.
Weekday select: Here you can select between Weekday/Weekend or each day of the week. The program mode is
congured at the thermostat.
You can then program the desired comfort levels by programming a time and a desired temperature. If the
thermostat being controlled is a time clock or a PRTHW-N (Heating / Hot water model) then you can program the
switching times as shown.
Program Schedule
Groups
You are able to create up to 5 groups within the NetMonitor. Groups provide a much easier method of copying
data between a set of thermostats. For example, you may want to group the bedrooms as 1 group and the
living/dining areas as another.
To create a group follow these steps;
•PressGroups.
•PressAdd/DeleteGroups.
•Youcannowenterthenameforthenewgroup.
•TickenableandpressSave.
Now select the group you’ve created from the drop down list at the top of the screen & tick the rooms which
belong to this group.
•PressSave.
To delete a group follow these steps;
•PressGroups.
•PressAdd/DeleteGroups.
•Youcandeletethetitleandremovethetickintheenablebox.
•PressSave.
Keylock
The KeyLock function allows you to lock the thermostat displays in individual rooms or an entire group.
To enable keylock, follow these steps;
• To lock individual, simply tick the rooms and then press Apply.
• To lock a group of rooms, select the group in the pull down list and then press either Lock or Unlock.
(See Groups for more information on adding or deleting groups.

Temperature Hold
To use temperature hold, follow these steps:
• Select the Hold Temperature from the drop down list.
• Enter the number of hours you would like to hold this temperature e.g. 01.
• To hold the temp in individual rooms, simply tick the rooms and then press Apply.
• You can apply this to a group by selecting the group from the list then clicking Apply at the top.
• Or you can tick individual rooms then press Apply at the bottom of the screen.
Holiday Mode
The NetMonitor allows you to program a holiday period. This will switch the heating and hot-water o
(maintaining frost protection) until the programmed return date. You can also program the holiday from the
Touchpad, and in this case you will see the programmed return time and date on the NetMonitor.
To cancel the holiday early, you need to press Home on the NetMonitor.

your smartphone or tablet. Simply download the free app from

NetMonitor App
Pay as You Go SIM card
It is likely Pay as You Go SIM cards will primarily be used in the
NetMonitor+. Some mobile phone companies require Pay as You
Go customers to send at least one text message every 80 days in
order to keep their connection open. We have added a function
where the NetMonitor+ will send a message every 80 days. The
NetMonitor+ will send the “Network” message (see next page for
details).
The temperature hold function allows you to set a desired temperature and hold duration and apply it to individual
rooms or a group of rooms.
