Introduction
Stability – The Hero Medical Super Budget Wheelchair has been designed with the user’s
comfort and safety in mind. Users must be seated securely in the wheelchair when it is in use.
It is advised to avoid sudden movements which may cause the user to fall forward, e.g. jolting
or pushing the wheelchair suddenly.
Uneven Terrain – Operating the wheelchair on uneven terrain increases the risk of the
wheelchair tipping over. When using the wheelchair on an incline, the user should be leaning
the position of the user’s body weight will ensure the centre of gravity on the wheelchair is
maintained, therefore reducing the risk of tipping.
Weight Capacity – The maximum safety weight limit for the wheelchair is 115kg and must not
be exceeded. If the maximum safety weight limit is exceeded, there is an increased risk of
damage to the wheelchair and/or risk of serious injury to the user and others.
Handle With Care / Pinching Hazards – The wheelchair has areas which may cause pinching
as trapping or pinching hazards are:
a. The footplates, when raising and lowering them.
b. The seat frame when folding and unfolding the wheelchair.
Safe Handling of the WheelchairIn order to avoid trapping or pinching hazards, the
wheelchair has safe grip areas. These are:
a. The two handle grips are located at the back of the wheelchair for safely moving the
wheelchair.
b. Padded armrest and legrest with foot strap is available on each side to ensure user safety
while in use.
Exposure to Weather –
period of time, then the wheelchair may become very hot or very cold which may increase the
risk of burns to the user, as well as damage to the wheelchair itself.
Safety Check Before Use – It is highly recommended for the safety of the user the below
checks are performed before use every time.
a. Check the brakes
b. Check the castors for wear and tear
c. Check whether or not all the removable parts are securely fastened (eg: legrest hanger, foot
plates, castors)

Unfolding the Wheelchair
·Pull the handles apart until the frame is half open.
·Place hands flat on the top of the seat and push downwards to fully unfold the wheelchair.
·Position the legrest parallel to the side of the seat frame, facing towards the rear of the
wheelchair with the silver clip facing away from the frame.
·Place the legrests securely on the 2 pins located above the front castors.
·Swivel the legrest forward until you hear the silver clip click, securing it to the frame.
·Push the footplates down until they are parallel to the ground.

·Undo the “T” shaped clip located at the end of the legrest
hanger to unlock the footplate.
·Press the 2 push pins and pull or push the footplate to
desired height.
·Push the “T” clip down to lock footplates.
Using the Park Brake
·Engage the park brake by pushing the brake lever forward
until it locks.
·Release the park brake by pulling the brake lever
backwards until it unlocks.
Folding the Wheelchair
• Remove the legrests from the wheelchair by folding the
footplates and releasing the silver clip. Swivel the leg rests
outwards and lift up from the pins.
• Pull up on the seat to collapse the wheelchair half way.
Gently push both of the arm rests inwards to fully collapse
the wheelchair.

• The castors, seat and back rest needs to be checked regularly for wear and tear.
Recommended maintenance for these is every 3 months. Replace these parts when there is
visible wear and tear.
• The brake function needs to be tested before every use of the wheelchair.
• If the wheelchair is exposed to water or moisture, always ensure the wheelchair is dried
promptly to prevent corrosion of the frame. The wheelchair should be wiped down regularly
