When the product is powered up, the motor rotates and it rotates the shaft and paddle that are
connected together. If the measurements in the container do not touch to rotating paddle, the
micro switch will turn ‘Off’as the motor is rotated without any load, and if the measurement
touches the turning paddle, the rotating paddle will stop and the micro switch will turn ‘ON’.

* Because of the clutch-type slip is built in, the motor is not under load even if excessive force is
applied on the paddle.

The HLV Series is a paddle type level switch which detects the level inside the tank and is
used in the process of alerting the user according to their use and measurement. This
detector has strong structure, good reliability, and long life benefits. It is mainly used in
Hopper and is used to measure molecules such as Powder, Grains, and Lumps.

■When used as a high level sensor
- Then sensor shall be installed in the area where the paddle can sense the highest level considering
the repose angle of the material.
■When used as a low level sensor
- The sensor shall be installed in a location where the paddle action will not be affected by the
residual material that may be attached to the wall even after the bulk of the material has been
discharged.
※Check before Installation
1) Do not use on highly adhesive materials. (Viscosity)
2) When installing the sensor, avoid shaking or obstructions.
3) Installation shall be avoided in the vicinity of the outlet as it is highly fluid and prone to mechanical
damage or chattering.
4) Temperature and pressure generated inside the hopper shall be checked to specification.
5) If the paddle does not fit into the connection, the folding paddle shall be applied.
6) If the temperature of the housing is significantly different from the ambient temperature, a
solvent filling or Gortex (Ventilation) shall be applied prior to use, as condensation may occur.
7) Use the same standard flange or screw.
- Since it is divide into AC 110V / AC 220V, connect it according to the power specification.
- Make sure that no wiring is allowed when power is applied.
- In case of Ex-proof type, the external/internal ground terminals shall be connected.
- When wiring, use the terminal lug.
The user shall determine if the product involved is an Ex-proof zone and install the appropriate product.

- The paddle shall be installed to avoid the inlet side of the measuring instrument, and the protector
shall be installed to prevent damage to the paddle.
- For side mounting installations, the entrance to the electric wire shall be installed facing the ground
to maintain the waterproof function.
- If the load on the paddles is heavier than the specification, the protector shall be installed.
- When installing on the low level, carefully install the dead stock and the material bridge.
- For outdoor installations, it is recommended to install the sun cover to avoid the effects of temperature increases.
- Make sure that the paddles are not in contact with the hopper’s ducts or walls.
- After the installation is complete and the cover of theproduct is assembled, power it on.
- Make sure to insert washers between bolts and nuts to prevent loosening.
- When you attach the product to a hopper, make sure that it is as bonded as possible by means of tools.
- Make sure to insert gaskets between flanges. (Select the gaskets in consideration of temperature of
content and pressure of vessel.)
- Do not apply high impact to the product.
For side mounting, it is not recommended to apply double-wing type paddle when installing low level.

The life span of key parts depends on user’s environment and can be used optimally through periodic
check. Therefore, regular inspection ensures optimal performance of product, so take regular inspection
and maintenance at least every year. In addition, check for the exterior of the product like visual
damage and remove the product to make sure that it rotates properly when the paddle is rotated by
hand. Measurements and foreign substances are attached to the paddle, which can cause poor
precision, and shall be removed regularly.
- Check the level and presence of measure object in the tank before removing it.
- Wear gloves when removing it, to prevent a burn.
- Disassemble work shall be done with the power off.
- If there is explosive gas atmosphere, do not open the cover.
- Unlock the lock key (Set screw) before removing the cover. (Ex-proof)
- Make sure that any O-ring or gasket is not damaged while opening or closing the cover
of product.
- The grounding has an external and an internal grounding. When connecting to an external ground,
the ground wire shall be 4㎟(4mmSQ).
- The internal grounding wire shall be the same size as the power line, and the size of the internal
grounding terminal lug shall be 3.1㎟(3.1mmSQ). If the power line is larger than 3.1㎟, connect the
ground wire without terminal lug.
- Use the cable gland connection or metal pipe line lead-in on the wire inlet, and use a product
with equivalent Ex-proof certificate to connect it with the external line lead-in method.
- For non-use external wire inlet, use a closed plug that passes safety certificate above equivalent
performance with the product.
Turn off the power of the product for maintenance.
Make sure to insert a washer if the terminal lug is removed from the ground terminal
and then re-connected.(Loosening prevention)

■Product Identification
- The product identification mark is attached onto the housing and shows the model name, serial
number, working temperature, working pressure, and matters regarding output. The serial number
is a unique manufacturing number for the identification of products.
■Warranty and Service
This product is subject to the warranty for 2 years of shipment and unpaid service will be
provided for any damage found under normal operating conditions. If it is not about the
failure of product, the service charge will be payable.

■Precautions for Use
- Make sure to connect the product and vessel using required tools for sure.
- Keep the lock key safe and make sure that it is locked.
- Do not apply high impact to the product.
■Precautions for Wiring
- Make sure to wire contacts correctly.
- Internal ground (inside product housing) and external ground shall be connected.
- Pay attention to prevent electric shock.
■Disposal of Product
- Make sure to separate the amplifier and main unit from housing before disposing the products. Also,
the amplifier shall be detached and discarded the metal and non-metallic materials.
- No part (ex. Mercury switch) has influence on the environment, so no special attention is required.
Understand the aforementioned and the fluid temperature of the container in which the product is
used shall be selected and used in accordance with the temperature range. In addition, make sure
that the ambient temperature of housing is kept at -20 - +80℃.
