Introductory Information
What is it?
This is a drag-knife contour cutter designed for cutting
flexible substrates accurately. Some major features are:
●Optical Positioning System (OPOS X, XY, XY2, Xtra) and
HP Barcode System for precise and unattended cutting
●Dierent types of cutting, with the ability to cut
completely through some substrates
●Ethernet (LAN) and USB connectivity
●Substrate basket included
This introductory document includes legal notices and safety
instructions, describes the use of the front panel, lists error
codes that you may encounter, and gives cutter
specifications.

Safety precautions
Before using your cutter, read the following safety precautions and operating instructions to make sure you use it
safely.
General safety guidelines
There are no operator-serviceable parts inside the cutter except those covered by HP’s Customer Self Repair
program: see http://www.hp.com/go/selfrepair/. Refer servicing of other parts to qualified service personnel.
This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.
Turn othe cutter and call your service representative in any of the following cases:
●The power cord or plug is damaged.
●The cutter has been damaged by an impact.
●There is any mechanical or enclosure damage.
●Liquid has entered the cutter.
●There is smoke or an unusual smell coming from the cutter.
●The cutter has been dropped.
●The cutter is not operating normally.
Turn othe cutter in either of the following cases:
●During a thunderstorm
●During a power failure
Ventilation measures for your location, whether oice, copy room, or printer room, should meet local environmental
health and safety (EHS) guidelines and regulations.
Take special care with zones marked with warning labels.
Electrical shock hazard
WARNING! The internal circuits of built-in power supplies and power inlet operate at hazardous voltages capable of
causing death or serious personal injury.
The cutter uses one power cord. Unplug the power cord before servicing the cutter.

To avoid the risk of electric shock:
●The cutter must be connected to earthed mains outlets only.
●Do not remove or open any other closed system covers or plugs.
●Do not insert objects through slots in the cutter.
●Take care not trip over the cables when walking behind the cutter.
●Insert the power cord securely and completely into the wall socket and cutter inlet.
●Never handle the power cord with wet hands.
Fire hazard
To avoid the risk of fire, take the following precautions.
●The customer is responsible for meeting the cutter requirements and the Electrical Code requirements
according to the local jurisdiction of the country where the equipment is installed. Use the power supply
voltage specified on the nameplate .
●Connect the power cord to a line, protected by a branch circuit breaker according to the information in the site
preparation guide. Do not use a power strip (relocatable power tap) to connect the power cord.
●Use only the power cords supplied by HP with the cutter. Do not use a damaged power cord. Do not use the
power cords with other products.
●Do not insert objects through slots in the cutter.
●Take care not to spill liquid on the cutter. After cleaning, make sure all components are dry before using the
cutter again.
●Do not use aerosol products that contain flammable gases inside or around the cutter. Do not operate the
cutter in an explosive atmosphere.
●Do not block or cover the openings of the cutter.
Mechanical hazard
The cutter has moving parts that could cause injury. To avoid personal injury, take the following precautions when
working close to the cutter.
●Keep your clothing and all parts of your body away from moving parts.
●Avoid wearing necklaces, bracelets, and other hanging objects.
●If your hair is long, try to secure it so that it will not fall into the cutter.
●Take care that sleeves or gloves do not get caught in moving parts.
●Do not touch gears or moving rolls during printing.
●Do not operate the cutter with covers bypassed.
Light radiation hazard
Light radiation is emitted from the led status indicators and display panel. This illumination is in compliance with the
requirements of the exempt group of IEC 62471:2006: Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems. However,
you are recommended not to look directly at the LEDs while they are on. Do not modify the module.

Heavy substrate hazard
Special care must be taken to avoid personal injury when handling heavy substrates.
●Handling heavy substrate rolls may require more than one person. Care must be taken to avoid back strain
and/or injury.
●Consider using a forklift, pallet truck, or other handling equipment.
●When handling heavy substrate HDPErolls, wear personal protective equipment including boots and gloves.
Front panel
The front panel is located on the front right of the cutter. It gives you complete control of your cutter: from the front
panel, you can view information about the cutter, change cutting settings, perform calibrations and tests, and so on.
The front panel also displays alerts (warning and error messages) when necessary.

Front-panel error codes
Under certain circumstances, a numeric error code appears on the front panel. Follow the advice in the
Recommendation column to resolve the error. If the recommendation does not seem to solve the problem, call your
service representative.
If an error code appears on the front panel that is not included in this list, turn othe cutter and then turn it back on.
If the problem persists, call your service representative.
Error code Recommendation
7.1 X-axis error! Overflow
or Overcurrent!
Cause: The drum motor cannot move to the required position.
Action:
1. Remove the crashed substrate and restart the machine.
2. Lower the substrate speed.
3. Check whether the drive drum turns smoothly (first turn the power oand
place the cam rollers in the up-position).
4. If problems continue, call your HP representative.
7.2 Y-axis error! Overflow
or Overcurrent!
Cause: The motor driving the machine head cannot move to the required position.
Action:
1. Remove the crashed substrate and restart the machine.
2. Lower the speed and/or the knife pressure.
3. Check whether the head moves smoothly (first turn the power oand position
the cam rollers on the outer edges of the substrate).
4. If problems continue, call your HP representative.
7.3 OPOS sensing errors Cause: OPOS does not sense markers, or senses values with which it cannot work.
Action:
1. Check the OPOS parameters and compare them to the printout. Set correct
parameters.
2. Check whether there is dust on the sensor tip.
3. Set substrate calibration OPOS to default and run the OPOS test found on the
manual CD.
4. Check the connection cable which runs from the head to the PCB.
5. Check the machine with another head (OPOS).
6. Check reflection values with OPOS monitor.
7. Check the flat cable going from the head to the PCB.
8. If problems continue, call your HP representative.

机械危险

●如果您的头发较长，请防止头发落入裁纸器中。
●注意不要让袖子或手套被移动部件缠住。
●请勿在打印时触摸齿轮或移动的卷筒。
●请勿在盖板掀起时操作裁纸器。
指示灯辐射危险
LED 状态指示灯和显示面板会发出光辐射。该照明符合 IEC 62471:2006 的无危害要
求：灯泡和灯泡系统的光生物安全免除组的要求。不过，建议您不要在 LED 点亮时
直视它们。请勿改造该模块。
纸张过重危险
当处理较重的纸张时，应特别小心，以免造成人身伤害。
●处理较重的纸张卷筒可能需要多人操作。操作时务必小心，以免导致背部拉
伤和/或受伤。
●考虑使用叉式升降机、码垛车或其他处理设备。
●处理较重的纸张 HDPE 卷筒时，请穿戴人身防护装置，包括靴子和手套。
