Flashing the Latest Version of the System BIOS
Flashing the Latest Version of the System BIOS
The latest BIOS can be obtained from HP World Wide Web site (http://
www.hp.com/go/vectrasupport). The file can be downloaded to the system
administrator’s PC and then to the target PC. The BIOS files can be copied to
a system diskette, and the BIOS can be flashed by running the PHLASH.EXE
program once the target PC has re-booted from its flexible disk drive. Full
details of the procedure are given in the associated README.TXT file.
If the flashing process goes wrong, close the “clear password” and “clear
CMOS” switches (SW-7 and SW-8) on the system board, reconnect the PC
and turn it on. This forces the PC to re-boot from the flexible disk drive.
Once the recovery program has completed, the BIOS can be flashed by run-
ning the PHLASH.EXE program. Once completed, return the system board
switches to their original positions.

Setting the two system board switches together is for recovery from a
BIOS upgrade failure, not for recovery from a corrupted operating
system.

If the BIOS is corrupted, the PC will be unusable. These two switches

is supplied with the PC.
