2 External component identification
Finding your hardware and software information
Locating hardware
To find out what hardware is installed on your computer:
1. From the Start screen, type control panel, and then select Control Panel.
2. Select System and Security, select System, and then click Device Manager in the left column.
A list displays all the devices installed on your computer.
To find out information about system hardware components and the system BIOS version number, press fn
+esc
Locating software
To find out what software is installed on your computer:
▲From the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Display
Item Component Description
(1) WLAN antennas (2)* Send and receive wireless signals.
(2) WWAN antennas (2)* Send and receive wireless signals.
(3) Internal microphones Record sound.
(4) Webcam light On: The webcam is in use.
(5) Webcam Records video and captures photographs. Some models allow you to video
conference and chat online using streaming video.
To use the webcam, from the Start screen, type camera, and then select
Camera from the list of applications.
(6) Internal display switch Turns off the display and initiates Sleep if the display is closed while the
power is on.
NOTE: The internal display switch is not visible on the outside of
the computer.
*The antennas are not visible from the outside of the computer. For optimal transmission, keep the areas immediately around the
antennas free from obstructions. For wireless regulatory notices, see the section of the Regulatory, Safety, and Environmental Notices
that apply to your country or region. To access this guide, from the Start screen, type support, and then select the HP Support
Assistant app.
