Description
The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) family of Fibre Channel (FC) storage systems is
supported for integrated iSCSI connectivity using the MPX200 Multifunction Router. The MPX200
hardware is integrated with up to four EVA storage systems and HP StorageWorks Command View
EVA to deliver multiprotocol capabilities. This provides both iSCSI and FC-attached servers access to
block storage through an FC and Ethernet IP network simultaneously.
The MPX200 supports multiple functions including iSCSI, FCIP, and online or offline data migration.
FCIP and data migration are license-enabled features. See Product models. The MPX200 functions
are supported separately or simultaneously as follows:
•iSCSI only
•FCIP only (license required)
•Data migration only (license required)
•iSCSI and FCIP (license required)
•iSCSI and data migration (license required)
For more information about MPX200 simultaneous operation, see the MPX200 Multifunction Router
User Guide. For more information on data migration, see the HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction
Router Data Migration Solution Guide.
Product models
The following models and licensed features of the MPX200 Multifunction Router are available:
•HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router 1 GbE base chassis (AP771A)—Order with an
EVA storage system or to upgrade existing EVA storage systems. This option includes one MPX200

This option includes a redundant 1 GbE blade for customers who require high availability.
•HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router 10 –1 GbE base chassis (AP773A)—Order with
an EVA storage system or to upgrade existing EVA storage systems. This option includes one
MPX200 chassis, a single 10 –1 GbE blade, and the components required for installation in an
EVA cabinet.
•HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router 10 –1 GbE upgrade blade (AP774A)—Order
with the AP773A connectivity option and an EVA storage system with iSCSI connectivity to provide
high-availability multipath connectivity or to upgrade existing EVA storage systems for multipathing.
This option includes a redundant 10 –1 GbE blade for customers who require high availability.
•HP Storage Works MPX200 Half Chassis FCIP License (TA766A)—Includes the license to enable
FCIP functionality in one out of two bays (slots) in an MPX200 Chassis

FCIP functionality for both bays (slots) in an MPX200 Chassis
MPX200 Multifunction Router Release Notes 3

NOTE:
For multi-path (redundant blade for high availability), order the full chassis license TA767A.
•HP Storage Works MPX200 1TB Full Chassis Data Migration License (TA762A)—Includes the license
to migrate 1 TB of data using a MPX200 Chassis
•HP Storage Works MPX200 5TB Full Chassis Data Migration License (TA763A)—Includes the license

•HP Storage Works MPX200 Full Chassis 1 Array Data Migration License (TA764A)—Includes the
license to migrate data from or to a single array using a MPX200 Chassis
NOTE:
The MPX200 data migration has a unique fan-in/fan-out licensing model. Using this particular
license, data can be migrated from multiple arrays to a single array or from a single array to
multiple arrays.
•HP Storage Works MPX200 Full Chassis 3 Array Data Migration License (TA765A)—Includes the
license to migrate data from or to a single array, on three unique migration jobs using a MPX200
Chassis
NOTE:
The MPX200 data migration has a unique fan-in/fan-out licensing model. Using this license, data
can be migrated from multiple arrays to a single array or from a single array to multiple arrays,
three times; that is, this license can enable three different migration jobs using the same MPX200
Chassis at different times.
The following equipment is required to configure the MPX200 Multifunction Router:
•B-series or C-series FC switch (fabric-attached only)
•Optical small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers:
•FC ports, 8 Gb/s short range SFP (AJ718A)
•FC ports, 4 Gb/s short range SFP (A7446B)
•10 GbE ports, short range SFP+ (455883-B21)
•Optical FC cables (fabric-attach or direct-connect)
•Copper FC cables (direct-connect only)
•Cat5e or Cat6 GbE Ethernet network cables
Purpose of the update
The MPX200 firmware version for this release is 3.2.0.1. This release includes the following functionality
additions and updates:
•Online data migration for HP-UX and Microsoft Windows 2008 and Windows 2003.
•FCIP performance enhancements, improvements in the software compression algorithm, and im-
plementation of an auto-compression detection feature to allow usage in high bandwidth WAN
4

environments irrespective of data compressibility. For more information, see the MPX200 Multi-
function Router User Guide.
•Added support for disabling ftp access. The default setting is enabled.
•Resolution of a Microsoft Windows iSCSI Initiator connection problem. For more information, see
Fixes.

User-defined bandwidth for a source array cannot be set greater than 400 MB/s with GUI
The source array bandwidth setting may be user-defined up to 1600 MB/s. However, the MPX200
manager for Data Migration Services GUI 3.0.1 does not allow a bandwidth greater than 400 MB/s.
This will be corrected in a later release. Use the MPX200 CLI migration command set array to set
the source array bandwidth greater than 400 MB/s.

Mac server sleep mode
The ATTO Mac iSCSI Initiator does not support Mac server sleep mode. If sleep mode is enabled,
and the Mac server goes to sleep, the initiator can lose iSCSI connectivity to the logical unit numbers
(LUNs).
If the ATTO Mac iSCSI Initiator is installed, disable Mac server sleep mode.
Windows drops the IP connection
Certain I/O workloads can cause Windows to drop the IP connection, resulting in removal of a LUN.
To restore the IP connection, reboot the system. To avoid dropped connections:
•Reduce the I/O workload.
•Reduce the application transfer size.
Windows iSCSI Initiators must add Tcp1323Opts to registry
If you use a method other that the HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router Windows software
kit to install the Windows iSCSI Initiator, you must manually add the Tcp1323Opts to the registry.
Timestamps enable TCP to accurately measure round-trip time (RTT) to adjust retransmission timeouts.
The timestamps option provides two 4-byte timestamp fields in the TCP header. One field records the
time of the initial transmission; the other field records the time on the remote host.
There are two methods to add Tcp1323Opts to the registry. HP recommends that you use the first
method.
IMPORTANT:
When you install the Windows iSCSI initiator from the HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router
Windows software kit, Tcp1323Opts is added to the registry automatically.
Method 1
To enable timestamps, under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\
Parameters, set the Tcp1323Opts entry to REG_DWORD = 2.
Method 2
CAUTION:
Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. Using it incorrectly can cause serious problems that require
reinstallation of the operating system. Be sure to back up the registry before making any changes.
Make the change to the registry, or cut and paste the following lines to a text file named
tcp1323opts.reg:
tcp1323opts.reg.
