Description
The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) and XP families of Fibre Channel (FC) storage
systems are supported for integrated iSCSI connectivity using the MPX200 Multifunction Router.
The MPX200 hardware is integrated with up to four EVA or XP24000/20000 storage systems
and HP StorageWorks Command View EVA (EVA only) to deliver multiprotocol capabilities. This
provides iSCSI and FC-attached servers access to block storage through an FC and Ethernet/IP
network simultaneously.
The MPX200 supports multiple functions including iSCSI, FCoE (10 GbE models), FCIP, and online
or offline block-based data migration. FCIP and data migration are license-enabled features (see
Product models). The MPX200 functions are supported separately or simultaneously as follows:
•iSCSI and/or FCoE only
•FCIP only (license required)
•Data migration only (license required)
•iSCSI/FCoE and FCIP (license required)
•iSCSI/FCoE and data migration (license required)
For more information about MPX200 simultaneous operation, see the MPX200 Multifunction Router

Fixes
The following fixes have been implemented in firmware version 3.3.0.2:
•iSCSI fixes: LUN presentation failed with the error message “Virtual disk operation has failed.
Ensure that the FC target connections are online.”
nl
LUN information is now refreshed prior to presentation.
•FCIP fix: IP address validation did not occur. Proper address validation is now performed on
IP addresses and Gateway address, taking subnet mask into account.
•FCoE fix: FCoE initiators were presented as Fibre Channel initiators, preventing Command
View EVA from presenting LUNs to FCoE hosts.
•Data Migration fix: Previously when the SPC-2 option was not set on an EMC DMX array FA
port and a WWLUNID size greater than 64 bytes was reported, the rpcserver would crash.
The LUN WWLUNID now truncates to 64 bytes.
Prerequisites
HP Command View EVA—The MPX200 requires HP Command View EVA version 9.2 or later.
FCoE requires Command View EVA 9.3 or later.

Important notes
FCoE notes
Command View EVA auto-presented offline targets
In a configuration with multiple MPX200 Multifunction Routers (different chassis enclosures) within
the same FC zone, auto-presented offline targets for the FCoE ports will display under the Command
View EVA iSCSI controller FC Ports tab.
LUN 0 presentation for MPX200 FCoE/iSCSI target
When managing an EVA using an FCoE/iSCSI CNA-based server with MPX200 FCoE/iSCSI
target connectivity, un-presenting the last FCoE/iSCSI LUN from the MPX200 FCoE/iSCSI Controller
may cause Command View to lose communication with the array. To resolve this problem, use the
Fixes 5

MPX200 CLI to present LUN 0 from each EVA Fibre Channel target WWN to each of the MPX200
FCoE/iSCSI ports, and to each of the management server's FCoE/iSCSI CNA ports. If you use a
dual-blade MPX200 chassis, you must execute this presentation process for both MPX200 Blades.

Mac server sleep mode
The ATTO Mac iSCSI Initiator does not support Mac server sleep mode. If sleep mode is enabled,
and the Mac server goes to sleep, the initiator can lose iSCSI connectivity to the logical unit numbers
(LUNs).
If the ATTO Mac iSCSI Initiator is installed, disable Mac server sleep mode.
Windows drops the IP connection
Certain I/O workloads can cause Windows to drop the IP connection, resulting in removal of a
LUN.
To restore the IP connection, reboot the system. To avoid dropped connections:
•Reduce the I/O workload.
•Reduce the application transfer size.
Windows registry modifications
CAUTION: Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. Using it incorrectly can cause serious problems
that require reinstallation of the operating system. Be sure to back up the registry before making
any changes.
If you use a method other than the HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router Windows
software kit to update, you add the Tcp1323Opts and Disk TimeOutValue to the registry.
Timestamps enable TCP to accurately measure round-trip time (RTT) to adjust retransmission timeouts.
The timestamps option provides two 4-byte timestamp fields in the TCP header. One field records
the time of the initial transmission; the other field records the time on the remote host.
There are two methods to add Tcp1323Opts to the registry. HP recommends that you use the first
method.
IMPORTANT: When you install the Windows iSCSI initiator from the HP StorageWorks MPX200
Multifunction Router Windows software kit, Tcp1323Opts is added to the registry automatically.
Method 1
To enable timestamps, under:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters, set the Tcp1323Opts
entry to REG_DWORD = 2.
To extend the timeout period, under: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\Disk,
set the TimeOutValue entry to REG_DWORD = 120.
Method 2
Make the change to the registry, or cut and paste the following lines to a text file named:
tcp1323opts.reg:
tcp1323opts.reg.
:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current-
ControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000002
Double-click the tcp1323opts.reg file to add the changes to the registry for the iSCSI initiator.
