Introduction - Htek Phones Configuration
guide
This User Guide is written as general guide on how to set up the Htek phone models: UC804,
UC806, UC840, UC842 and UC860.
Installation
This chapter describes how to install and connect the phone to the electrical power and data
network, as well as how to apply factory settings.
The following topics are covered:

Power Adapter
Connect the Network and Power
Connect the DC plug on the power adapter to the DC port on the phone and connect the other
■
end of the power adapter into an electrical power outlet.
Connect the ethernet cable between the Internet port on the phone and the network port on
■
the router or switch to access LAN.
NOTE: If you are using Power over Ethernet (PoE), you do not need to connect the AC adapter.
Make sure the Ethernet cable and router or switch is Power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant.

Connect the Network (only)
Using a regular ethernet cable, your phone can be powered from a Power over Ethernet (PoE)
compliant router or switch.
Connect the Ethernet cable between the Internet port on the phone and an available port on
■
the in-line power router or switch.
Factory Settings
Reset to factory settings
This step is not required for out-of-the-box phones, however, if the phone has already been used,
then it is a must.
Press Menu button.
■
Go to Settings and press the Enter button.
■
Go to Advanced and press the Enter button. you will be asked to enter a password. Enter
■
your password (default password admin) and press the Enter button under display.
Go to Phone Settings and press the Enter button.
■
Go to Factory Reset and press the Enter button.

Registering Phone
This chapter describes how to identify the Htek phone model, requirements that must be met,
and how to register the phone using manual configuration or auto provisioning.

Manual Configuration

This chapter describes how to set UAD settings, create a PBXware extension, and register the
phone using Hostname or IP Address.

UAD settings
1. Login to the PBXware web administration interface
Open a new browser window and enter the IP address in order to access the PBXware web
■
administration login screen. For example: http://192.168.1.10.
Login to PBXware with your e-mail address and password.
■
2. UAD settings
Navigate to Settings:UAD.
■
Make sure the Htek UAD is enabled. To check the UAD status, click on the edit icon
■
corresponding to your Htek phone.
Make sure Status is set to Active, Auto provisioning is set to No, and DHCP is set to Yes.
■
Click on the Save button to save changes.

Creating Extension
1. Add Extension
Navigate to Extensions. Click on Add Extension.
■
The standard options window will be shown below.
■
Select the Htek phone model from the UAD select box.
■

Select Location: Local or Remote.
■
Local is for all extensions registered on the LAN and Remote is for all extensions
registered from remote networks, WAN, Internet etc.
Click on the Next step button.
■
2. Extension values
Enter values into the required fields text boxes.
REQUIRED FIELDS:
Name
■
Enter a name for the extension being created. Example: John Smith.
E-mail
■
Enter the e-mail address associated with this extension. This e-mail address will receive all
system notification messages. For example: [email protected] .
Department
■
Select the department to which the extension belongs. Select 'none' if not applicable.
Click on the Save button.

This chapter describes how to register a HTek phone using Hostname or IP Address.

Account
1. Login to phone web administration interface
Open a new browser window and enter your phone IP address in order to access the phone's
■
web administration interface login screen. For example: http://192.168.1.22
Login to the phone's web administration interface with your username and password. Please
■
note, factory default login details are username: admin and password: admin.
Click on Account.
■
Enter or set the following details into the respective fields.
■
REQUIRED FIELDS:
Account Active
■
Make sure the Yes radio box is selected.
Primary SIP Server
■
Enter the Hostname or IP Address of PBXware.
- Example for Hostname: voip.bicomsystems.com
- Example for IP Address: 192.168.1.10
SIP Transport
■
UDP, TCP, TLS.
SIP User ID
■
PBXware extension number. Example: 1003
Authenticate ID
■
Usually the same number as the Phone Number.
Authenticate Password
■

The Secret of the extension as received in the e-mail associated with this extension.
Example: _%Z4M3*Ts9y7. A password is generated automatically for each newly created
extension.
Click on the SaveSet button.
■
You will have to wait for the device to reboot. If everything is done as above described, you
■
should have successfully registered your phone to PBXware. Dial *123 to verify the
registration.
Auto Provisioning
This chapter describes how to set UAD settings, create a PBXware extension, and register the
phone using DHCP or Static IP address. NOTE: Auto Provisioning with DHCP or Static IP
using HTTP or HTTPS is not supported for HTek phones.

1. Login to the PBXware web administration interface
Open a new browser window and enter the IP address in order to access the PBXware web

administration login screen. For example: http://192.168.1.10.
Login to PBXware with your e-mail address and password.
■
2. UAD settings
Navigate to Settings:UAD.
■
Make sure the Htek UAD is enabled. To check the UAD status, click on the edit icon
■
corresponding to your HTek phone.
Make sure Status is set to Active, Auto provisioning is set to Yes, and DHCP is set to Yes.
■
Click on the Save button to save changes.

Navigate to Extensions. Click on Add Extension.

Select the Htek phone model from the UAD select box.
■

2. Extension values

This chapter describes how to register a Htek phone using TFTP.

Auto Provisioning
1. Login to the phone's web administration interface
If there is no DHCP in your network, you can still auto provision your Htek phone. Please refer
to your HTek phone model User Guide for instructions about setting the static IP address. After
you configure your HTek phone to use a static IP address, continue with the following steps.
Open a new browser window and enter your phone's IP address in order to access the phone's
■
web administration interface login screen. For example: http://192.168.1.22.
Login to the phone's web administration interface with your username and password. Please
■
note, the factory default login details are username: admin and password: admin.
Click on the Management tab.
■
Click on the Auto Provision tab.
■
You can use TFTP protocol in order to Auto Provision your Htek phone.
■
For Upgrade Mode, Choose TFTP.
■
In the Config Server Path field, enter the Hostname or IP Address.
■
- Example for Hostname: tftp://voip.bicomsystems.com/
- Example for IP Address: tftp://192.168.1.10/
Make sure you replace the Hostname or IP Address from this example with your PBXware
■
Hostname or IP address.
Click on the SaveSet button at the bottom of the page.
■
You will have to wait for the device to save the changes.
Click on the Auto Provision button to run the auto provisioning process.
■

The auto provisioning process will start during the phone reboot process. The phone will pick
■
up the appropriate configuration file from PBXware. If everything is done as above described,
you should have successfully registered your phone to PBXware. Dial *123 to verify
registration.
