About This Document
Purpose
This document describes the TaiShan X6000 server (X6000 for short) in terms of
its appearance, features, specications, and system components. It also explains
how to install, congure, and verify the installation of the X6000.
By referring to this document, you can install the X6000.
The X6000 chassis can house four XR320 high-density nodes.
Intended Audience
This document is intended for:

1 Overview
The TaiShan X6000 server powered by Huawei Kunpeng 916 processors is
dedicated for data centers. It is a 2U 4-node high-density server. The X6000 can
accommodate up to four 2-socket server nodes. It features high density, reliability,
scalability, and energy eciency, and is easy to manage and maintain.
The X6000 is oriented towards the following applications:
● Internet and data center applications
The X6000 provides customized server solutions that oer rapid deployment,
easy maintenance, and low power consumption.
● HPC, cloud computing, and ISP applications
The X6000 provides a basic hardware platform that is highly reliable and
provides high virtualization performance.

Features
● Ultra-High Density Design Reducing Equipment Footprint
The X6000 provides higher density than conventional rack servers, reducing
the footprint in equipment rooms.
– The X6000 provides computing density twice that of a conventional 1U
rack server and four times that of a conventional 2U rack server. This
greatly improves space utilization in equipment rooms.
– Each node supports six 2.5-inch hard disks.
●Unied Management and Easy Maintenance
The X6000 leverages the blade server architecture to provide unied
management and easy maintenance.
– The X6000 uses the intelligent baseboard management controller (iBMC)
and Hyper Management Module (HMM) to implement unied
management. By incorporating advantages of rack and blade servers, the
X6000 allows nodes to be installed at the rear and supports rear cabling.
– The modular design and hot-swappable key components greatly improve
O&M eciency.
● Shared Architecture and High Energy Eciency
The X6000 features high energy eciency thanks to its shared architecture.
– The server nodes share two PSUs and four fan modules, simplifying
deployment and increasing PSU and fan module utilization.
● Redundancy and Reliability
The architecture of the X6000 implements redundancy to ensure stable long-
term operating.
– The X6000 supports redundant fan modules and PSUs, and RAID
conguration, preventing data loss and service interruption.
– The X6000 uses carrier-class components and manufacturing processes to
improve stability and ensure a longer lifecycle.
● Support for Customization
– Huawei designs the product and owns the intellectual property.
– Huawei provides quick customized development and delivery.

SN
The serial number (SN) on the label is a string that uniquely identies a server.
The SN is required when you contact Huawei technical support.

3 Vendor code (two characters). 10 indicates Huawei and other
values indicate outsourcing vendors.
4 Year and month (two characters).
● The rst character indicates the year. Digits 1 to 9 indicate
2001 to 2009, letters A to H indicate 2010 to 2017, letters J to
N indicate 2018 to 2022, and letters P to Y indicate 2023 to
2032.
NOTE
The years from 2010 are represented by upper-case letters excluding I,
O, and Z because the three letters are similar to digits 1, 0, and 2.
● The second character indicates the month. Digits 1 to 9
indicate January to September, and letters A to C indicate
October to December.
5 Serial number (six characters).
6 RoHS compliance (one character). Y indicates environmental
protection processing.
7 Internal model, that is, product name.

● Blinking blue: The server node has been
located and is dierentiated from other nodes
that have also been located.

● You can press this button to turn on or o the
UID indicator.
● You can press and hold down this button for 4

hard disk, written to the hard disk, or

2.3 Rear Panel Components
The X6000 contains four server nodes and two PSUs at the rear. Each node
supports a maximum of two PCIe cards.
Figure 2-4 shows the rear panel of the X6000 fully congured with 2U4 server

The onboard NIC with GE electrical ports does not support
interconnection with the PoE power supply device, for

supplied due to overheat
protection, overcurrent protection,
short circuit protection, output
overvoltage protection, or some
component failures.
● Blinking green at 1 Hz:
– The input is normal, the server
node is standby, and the PSU
is in MV6 mode. (The output
voltage is 6.7 V.)
– The input is overvoltage or
undervoltage.
– The PSU is in deep hibernation
mode.
● Blinking green at 4 Hz: under
online rmware upgrade.
