Expected Result 1. The packaging is in good condition and has no water stain.

T01-02 Chassis
T01-0201 Chassis Structure
Objective To verify the server chassis structure.
Test Networking
Diagram None
Preset Conditions The structure of the mainboard, hard disk backplane, I/O board, indicator board, VGA
board, and power board is proper.
Test Procedures 1. Check whether there are any scratches or oxidation on the chassis surface or
deformation for the chassis cover.
2. Check the mounting ears and the installation.
3. Install the chassis cover on the server, and screw the chassis cover.
Expected Result 1. The chassis is in good condition, without scratches, oxidation, or deformation.
2. The mounting ears are in good condition and properly installed.
3. The chassis cover is properly installed and screwed.
4. Hard disks are inserted or removed smoothly without scratches on the surface
and fit the slots perfectly.

T01-03 PSU
T01-0301 Verifying the PSU Installation and Power-on State
Objective To verify the installation and power-on status of the power supply units (PSUs)
Test Networking
Diagram None
Preset Conditions The structure of the mainboard, hard disk backplane, I/O board, indicator board, VGA
board, and power board is proper.
Test Procedures 1. Insert the two PSUs into the slots. If only one PSU is configured, install a filler
panel in the other slot.
2. Connect the PSUs to the power input socket over power cables, and wait 10
seconds.
Expected Result 1. The PSUs and filler panel are installed smoothly and properly.
2. The PSUs fit the chassis properly.
3. The PSUs are working properly and the indicators are steady green when the
server is being powered on.
4. No abnormal noise is heard during the power-on operation.

T01-0302 Verifying the Hot Swap Function
Objective To verify that the PSUs are hot-swappable

Objective To verify whether the PSUs are configured in redundancy mode.

board, and power board is proper.
Test Procedures 1. Install two PSUs in the server.
2. Connect power cables to the PSUs and wait 10 seconds till the server is
powered on, and the power status indicators are steady on.

Test Procedures 1. Power on the server. Press Del during the startup. Check that the BIOS SETUP
screen is displayed.
2. View the CPU model and quantity.
3. View the total memory capacity.
4. Choose Advanced > PXE Configuration, and view the media access control
(MAC) addresses of the four network ports.
5. View the system S/N.
6. View the basic input output system (BIOS) version.
Expected Result 1. The BIOS SETUP screen is displayed.
2. The CPU model and quantity are the same as the actual configurations.
3. The total memory capacity is compatible with actual configurations.
4. The MAC addresses of the four network ports are displayed.
5. The System S/N parameter is specified.

Test Procedures
1. Press Ctrl+C as prompted during the startup.
2. View the LSI2308 BIOS version and firmware versions on the displayed
screen.
3. On the Adapter Properties screen, check the NVDATA version.
4. On the SAS Topology menu, expand Direct Attach Devices, and check the
hard disk model and quantity.
Expected Result
1. The SETUP screen is displayed after you press Ctrl+C.
2. The LSI2308 BIOS version, firmware versions, and NVDATA version are
displayed.
3. The hard disk model and quantity are the same as actual configurations.

3. Connect the terminal to the iMana management network port (connect to the
Mgnt port on the left of the VGAport), enter http://192.168.2.100, and press
Enter.
4. Log in with the user name root and password Huawei12#$, choose Overview,
and view active alarms.
Expected Result
1. The indicator is green.
2. The system is operating properly, and no alarm is generated.

firmware, such as, CPLD, iMana, BIOS, and FPGA.
4. Choose System Information > Asset Information, and view asset
information.
Expected Result
1. The firmware versions are properly displayed.
2. The values of Board Serial Number and Manufacture Date are properly
displayed.

T02-0202 Verifying Basic iMana Functions
Objective
To verify basic iMana functions

1. Power on the server system and wait about 5 minutes until the BIOS setup
phase is complete.
2. Choose System Information >System Hardware, and view system hardware
information.
3. Choose Real-time Monitoring >Component, and view the temperature
monitoring information.
4. Choose Real-time Monitoring >Component, and view the power monitoring
information.
5. Choose Real-time Monitoring >Component, and view the fan speed
monitoring information.
6. Choose Real-time Monitoring >Component, and view the device status
monitoring information.
7. Perform other operations and estimate the network delay.
Expected Result
1. The hardware installation status and configurations are the same as actual site
information. The hardware includes the CPU, DIMM, hard disk, PSU, fan, hard

1. Install a Windows OS.
2. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
View the OS version, bits, memory capacity, CPU model, CPU quantity.
3. Right-click My Computer and choose Manage from the shortcut menu. In the
Device Manager window, view the information about the network interface
card (NIC) and host bus adapter (HBA) card.
Expected Result
1. The OS is properly installed, and the hard disks and the CD-ROM drive are
successfully detected.
2. The OS version and bits are the same as the actual configurations.
3. The total memory capacity is compatible with the actual configurations.

To verify that you can power on, power off, and reset a server on the iMana Web.

5. Select Cold Reset if the server is powered on, and click OK.
6. Select Graceful Reboot and click OK.
Expected Result
1. After you select Power Off, the OS shuts down and the server powers off.
2. After you select Power On, the server is powered on and the OS is started.
3. After you select Cold Reset, the server OS restarts successfully.

T04-06 Setting an IP Address
Objective To verify that you can set an IP address on the iMana Web.

Preset Conditions 1. AC power is supplied to the server.
2. The IP address of the iMana management network port is obtained.
3. Internet Explorer 8.0 or Firefox 9.0 is installed on the terminal.
4. JRE1.6u25 or later is installed on the terminal.
5. The terminal is connected to the iMana network port of the server over the
network.
Test Procedures 1. Log in to the iMana Web.
2. Choose Configuration and click Network.
3. Select Manually Set an IP Address under IPv4. Enter an IP address, subnet
mask, and gateway address in the text boxes, and click OK. Ensure that the
new IP address is on the same network segment as the IP address of the
terminal.
4. Use the new IP address to log in to the iMana Web.
Expected Result 1. The IP address is properly configured.
2. The new IP address takes effect and can be used to log in.
Test Description After the new IP address is configured or obtained, use the IP address to log in again.
T04-07 Verifying the Location Indicator Function
Objective To verify the location indicator function on the iMana Web.

Preset Conditions 1. AC power is supplied to the server.
2. The IP address of the iMana management network port is obtained.
3. Internet Explorer 8.0 or Firefox 9.0 is installed on the terminal.

Test Procedures 1. Log in to the iMana Web.
2. Choose Diagnose and Location and click Device Location.

3. Select Steady On and click OK.
4. Choose Temporary On, enter a time period for illumination, such as 10
seconds, and click OK.
5. Select Off and click OK. Observe the status of the location indicator on the
server.
Expected Result The indicator shows the three states properly and the selected state is the same as
the actual state.
Test Description When the location indicator is illuminated, it blinks blue at 1 Hz.
T04-08 Setting the System Boot Option
Objective To verify that you can set the system boot option on the iMana Web.
Test Networking

Preset Conditions 1. AC power is supplied to the server.
2. The IP address of the iMana management network port is obtained.
3. Internet Explorer 8.0 or Firefox 9.0 is installed on the terminal.
4. JRE1.6u25 or later is installed on the terminal.
5. The terminal is connected to the iMana network port of the server over the
network.
6. The CD-ROM drive is connected to the server.
Test Procedures 1. Log in to the iMana Web.
2. Choose Configuration, click System Configuration, and click System Boot
Option on the right.
3. Select CD-ROM Drive and click OK.
4. Restart the server and check whether the setting takes effect.
5. Select No override and click OK.
6. Restart the server and check whether the setting takes effect.
Expected Result 1. The system boots from the CD-ROM drive.
2. The system boots based on the BIOS settings.

Preset Conditions The server is powered on, and the hard disks are detected.
Test Procedures 1. Press Ctrl+C in the POST phase. The screen for configuring the LSI SAS2308
properties is displayed.
2. Select LSI SAS2308and press Enter.
3. Select RAID Properties and press Enter.
4. Select Create RAID1 Volume and press Enter. Press →to select RAID Disk,
and press the Space key to select two hard disks for configuring RAID 1
properties. RAID Disk for the two hard disks is displayed as Yes. Pres Cto
configure RAID 1 properties. On the displayed screen, select Save changes
then exit this menu and press Enter to save the settings.
Expected Result RAID 1 properties are configured successfully.

Objective To verify that you can configure RAID 1 properties by using the hard disk controller

Test Networking

Preset Conditions The server is powered on, and the hard disks are detected.
Test Procedures 1. Press Ctrl+H in the POST phase. The window for configuring the LSI SAS2208
is displayed.
2. Click Configuration Wizard.
3. In the displayed window, select New Configuration and click Next.
4. Click Yes when "You have chosen to clear the configuration. This will destroy
all virtual drives. All data on all virtual will be lost. Are you sure you want to clear
the configuration?" is displayed. In the displayed window, select Manual
Configuration and click Next.
5. In the Drives pane, select twohard disks while holding down Ctrl. Click Add to
Array to add the two hard disks to Drive Groups on the right.Click Accept DG
and Next.
6. In the displayed window, click Add to SPAN in the Array with Free Space
pane. Click Next after the disk group is added to SPAN. In the Virtual Drive
Definition window, select RAID 1, enter the recommended capacity (under
Virtual Drives) in Select Size, and retain default settings for other parameters.
Then click Accept. Click Yes when "Write Through mode eliminates risk of
losing cached data in case of power failure. But it may result in slower
performance. Are you sure you want to select write through mode?" is
displayed.

7. Click Next and Accept in the two displayed windows respectively.
8. Click Yes when "Save this configuration?" is displayed.
9. Select Yes when "All data on the new Virtual Drives will be lost, want to
initialize?" is displayed.
10. Click Home. Spanned Drive Group: 0, RAID 1is displayed under Logical
View on the right, RAID 1 properties are configured successfully.
Expected Result RAID 1 properties are configured successfully.

4. Remove the two RAID 1 member disks from the server in step 2, and install
them on another server that has the same configurations as the previous one.

5. Power on the latter server in step 4. Press Ctrl+C in the POST phase. The
screen for configuring the LSI SAS2308 is displayed.
6. Select LSISAS2308 and press Enter.

Test Procedures 1. Power on the server.
2. After the OS starts, remove a RAID 1 member disk.
3. Install a new hard disk of the same model, and check the hard disk indicator
state.
4. Check the hard disk indicator state after a time period.
Expected Result 1. In step 3, the yellow and green hard disk indicators blink at the same frequency,
which means that data is being synchronized between the two hard disks.
2. In step 4, after data is synchronized for the newhard disk, the green indicator is
steady on, and the yellow indicator is off.
Test Description The time period in step 4 ranges from half an hour to 8 hours, depending on the model
and capacity of the hard disk.
