HT1000 Quick Install Guide

POINTING / WIRELESS SMART DEVICE
This is a method of pointing using a smart device (phone, tablet, or laptop) connected to
satellite modem through a wireless router (Wi-Fi).
The instructions provided are specifically for the Netgear N150 Wireless Router model
WNR1000v2. The default settings were used and should work with most routers. You may
need to consult your router manufacturer if unable to access the satellite modem.
Perform the following steps to setup the router to work with the HT1000 and a wireless
laptop or smart mobile device. Do not use the Netgear set up disk. The initial setup
must be performed on a computer with a Ethernet Port so that the wireless router can be
wired to the computer. This process only needs to be performed once. Afterward the
Netgear router can be used with any smart mobile device or wireless laptop.
1. Plug in the Netgear wireless router to power.
2. Plug in Ethernet cable from any LAN port to the Ethernet port on a laptop or computer.
3. Access router built-in webserver by entering 10.0.0.1 in URL field of internet browser on
laptop.
4. Login to the Netgear router with username: “admin” and password: “password” (other routers
may use different values)
5. Click on “Wireless Settings” on left side of screen.
6. Change SSID to “HughesOasis”.
7. Click “Apply”, it may ask you to enter your username and password again. Use the same as
above and click “OK”
8. Disconnect Ethernet cable from laptop to wireless router.
Perform the following steps to use any mobile smart device to point and perform terminal
activation.
1. Plug Ethernet cable from satellite modem to WAN port on wireless router.
2. Plugin router to power.
3. On mobile smart device search for available Wi-Fi Signal. Connect to HughesOasis from Wi-
Fi search list.
4. Launch browser on mobile smart device and enter 192.168.0.1 in URL field. The System
Control Center (SCC) should now be displayed.
5. Click on Information icon that is located on right side of "System Information”.
6. On Advanced Configuration and Statistics page click on “Installation” (listed below Advanced
Menu).
7. Click on “Install” on the sub menu.
8. Shown will be the “Input Parameters” section. Enter latitude, longitude and EchoStar- XVII
and click “Submit”. (Lat / Long must be determined with an onsite GPS device. Do not use
any “map” generated GPS location.)

(polarization) settings.
10.The screen shows the Max SQF on left and the Current SQF on right.
11.Sweep the antenna to acquire satellite signal... You have found the right satellite when SQF
reaches 30 or higher.
14.Continue to fine point the antenna to gain the highest signal possible by adjusting the fine
elevation and fine azimuth adjustments.
15.Once peaked, carefully lock down antenna by tightening all bolts. Check the SQF to ensure
strength of signal was not reduced during this step.
