ACC2 STRONGBOX PEDESTAL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions for installing the Hunter ACC2 Controller into the StrongBox SB-16SS Stainless Steel Pedestal
Kits Required
Hunter
• Hunter P/N A2C1200SBKIT (12-station conventional
controller kit, includes facepack, inner panel and
accessories kit including SmartPort®)
• Hunter P/N A2M-600 (6-station output module,
ACC2; 1 module for each additional 6 stations needed)
• Hunter P/N A2C75DSBKIT (75-station decoder
controller kit, includes facepack, inner panel, and
accessories kit including SmartPort)
• Hunter P/N A2C-D75 (75-station decoder
expansion module; 1 module for each additional 75
stations needed)
StrongBox
• P/N “SB-16SS” (Stainless steel pedestal): If the StrongBox
cabinet is needed
• P/N “OPTHUNACC2” (Inner panel kit): if ONLY the controller/
electronics are being replaced

Tools Required
• 11 mm socket wrench
• 14 mm socket wrench
• #2 Phillips head screwdriver
Assembly
Disassembling the Hunter ACC2
inner chassis: Power supply assembly
(Decoder version shown)
Step 1: Loosen the captive screws (qty: 3)
using #2 Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 1 & 2).
Step 2: Pull the power supply assembly o and
disconnect all three connectors (Fig. 3).

inner chassis: Deck assembly
(Decoder version shown)
Step 1: Remove output module by sliding the
slidelock from the locked to the unlocked
position, then pulling the module out (Fig. 1).
Step 2: Loosen the deck assembly captive
screws (qty: 2) using #2 Phillips head
screwdriver (Fig. 2).
Step 3: Remove the deck assembly by tilting
up as shown and pulling out (Fig. 3).

• Orient the StrongBox inner panel as shown
with the ground stud at the bottom.
Note the three locations for installing the
screws that attach the Hunter ACC2 inner
chassis to the StrongBox inner panel.

Step 1: Install the 8-32 X 1 screws (qty: 3) in
the locations shown using #2 Phillips head
screwdriver (Fig. 1 & 2).
• Only cinch down
• Do not overtighten

Reassembling the Hunter ACC2 inner
chassis assembly: Deck assembly
(Decoder version shown)
Step 1: Install the deck assembly by inserting
the lower hooks and tilting back (Fig. 1).
• Make sure both cables on the le side are
outside of the deck assembly.
Step 2: Tighten the captive screws (qty: 2)
using #2 Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 2).

SmartPort adapter, use the following
instructions. If not, skip to page 14.

Optional Assembly
Installing the SmartPort adapter Step 1: Install the Hunter SmartPort
adapter onto the sheet metal bracket,
as shown (Fig. 1).

Step 1: Using the side slot opening of the inner
chassis, route the SmartPort cable and install
the SmartPort adapter connector to the small
three-pin connector mounted on the circuit
board on the deck assembly, as shown (Fig. 2).
Step 2: Make sure the small ribs on the
SmartPort adapter connector face to the
right when connecting with the mating
connector (Fig. 3).

Reassembling the Hunter ACC2 inner
chassis assembly: Power supply assembly
(Decoder version shown)
Step 1: Reconnect the two cables from the
deck assembly (Fig. 1).
Step 2: Reconnect the cable from the
junction box assembly (Fig. 2).
Step 3: Reinstall the power supply assembly
being careful not to pinch any of the cables.
Power supply assembly should sit ush.
Tighten the captive screws (qty: 3) using #2
Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 3).

(Decoder version shown)
Step 1: Make sure the slidelock is in the
UNLOCKED position (slide to the right).
Install the output module into the deck
assembly (Fig. 1).
Step 1: Slide the slidelock to the le to the
LOCKED position (Fig. 2).

Assembling the StrongBox supplied
support bracket to the inner panel
• Fig. 1: StrongBox supplied support bracket
with 4 mounting screws
Step 1: Locate support bracket as shown
and install screws. Push up tight against the
Hunter inner chassis and tighten screws using
#2 Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 2).

Disassembling the StrongBox pedestal Step 1: Open the StrongBox Pedestal top door
and remove the front door (Fig. 1).
Step 2: Remove the nuts and washers (qty: 4)
using a 14 mm socket (Fig. 2 & 3).

Installing the inner panel assembly Step 1: Install through the front opening with
the right side angled in rst, as shown (Fig. 1).
Step 2: Once inside, rotate Inner panel
assembly so that it’s ush with the back wall.
Be patient, there are many areas where the
panel can get hung up, but it does t in (Fig.
2).
Step. 3: Hang the inner panel assembly on the
four studs on the back wall. Reinstall the four
sets of hardware using a 14 mm socket: at
washer, hex nut (Fig. 3).

using #2 Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 1 & 2).
Step2: Install the facepack adapter panel
(Fig. 3).

using the slots shown below (Fig. 1).
Step 2: Reinstall the screws (qty: 4) using #2
Phillips head screwdriver (Fig. 2).
