TheiColor®500printerhasbeendevelopedtoproducehigh‐qualityconventionalcolorprintswiththeoutof
theboxfunctionalityofprintinginwhite.
Pleasefollowtheenclosedquicksetupguidetogetstarted.TheiColor®500comescompletewith4toner
cartridgesforfullcolorandblackprinting(CMYK),aswellasourexclusivefluorescentwhiteprintingkit(toner
anddrumcombination).Justquicklyswaptheblackforwhitewhenyouwanttoaddwhiteasaspotcolor,or
toprintawhiteunderprintoroverprintinconcertwiththeiColor®TransferRIPsoftware.Blackcanthenbe
producedusingcompositeblack(madefromCMY),oriftrueblackandwhiteisneededatthesametime,just
passtheprintthoughtheprinterasecondtime.Ourregistrationsystemwillensuretheprintsarelinedup
perfectly.
Youwillalsohavetheoptiontoaddourfullfluorescentkitwhichcomescompletewith3[CMY]toner
cartridgesandmatchingdrumunits.Thissystemrequiresnoadditionalsoftwareorexpertisetoprint
conventionalCMYKimagesinvividfluorescentcolor.Inaddition,addexclusiveiColorsecurityandcleartoner
optionsatanytime.

Why use the iColor®TransferRIP?
UsetheiColor®TransferRIPsoftwaretoprintfluorescentwhiteasanunderprintoroverprintinonepass.
TheiColor®TransferRIPsoftwareallowstheusertomanipulatethewhitelayerbehindthegraphicforprinting
ondarkortransparentmediawherewhiteisneededasabackgroundcolor.Twocartridgeconfigurationsare
availabletoeasilyadjustforreverseprinting,wherewhiteisneededasatopcolorforapparel.Noneedto
createadditionalgraphicswithdifferentcolorconfigurations–thesoftwaredoesitall–andinonepass!
Enhancethebrillianceofanygraphicwithfluorescentwhitebehindcolor.
TheiColor®TransferRIPisthemagicbehindonepassprintingwithwhiteasanunderprintoranoverprint.The
mostimportantpointoftheiColor®TransferRIPsoftwareisthatitallowscolorstobeputdowninlayers.
Regularprinterdriversonlyconcernthemselveswithwhattheeyeseesonthetoplayer,theRIPallowsyouto
separatelycontroleachlayer,thusgivingyoutheabilitytocontrolnotonlywhatyousee,butwhatisbehind
thattoplayer(typicallythewhitelayer).TheiColor®TransferRIPgivesyoutheuniqueabilitytouseone
machinetoprintimageswithwhiteasanunderprintoranoverprint.Youcannowprintvibrantcolorsonclear
ordarkmediaregardlessofthebackgroundtowhichitisapplied,wherethewhiteisputdownfirstandthe
colorsafterwards.TheiColor®TransferRIP‘ColorMapping’featurealsoallowsfor‘ReversePrinting’when
printingandtransferringtogarmentswherewhiteisputdownlast.Thisistheonlywaytoachievewhite
underprintandoverprintinonepass,andyouwillnotfindanothermachineonthemarkettodaythatcando

Toaccomplishthesetwofeatures,UniNethascreatedtwoconfigurationstosuitanyprintingproject:
‘A’Configurationisforrightsideprintingandallowsforprintingwhiteasanunderprintinonepass(typically
usedfortransparencies,clearlabels,darkmediaorAquaClearpaper).Theblackandwhitecartridgescanbe
swappedwithinthefirstslotdependingonyourneeds.ThisconfigurationisforprintingstandardCMYK
imageswhentheblackisinstalledorCMYWimageswhenwhiteisinstalled.Whenthewhiteisinstalledinthe
blackslot,thisisconfiguredfor‘RightSidePrinting’wherethewhiteisprintedfirst,asanunderprint,allinone
pass.Inthissituation,theRIPconvertspureKcolorstoCMYcompositeblack,andputsinwhitenotonlyasa
backgroundcolorbutalsointheimagewherewhiteorpagewhiteisspecified.
‘B’Configurationallowsforprintingwhiteasanoverprintinonepassforreverseprinting(typicallyusedfor
transferprinting).Thisconfigurationcallsforaspecialsecondsetofwhiteandcyantoneranddrum
cartridges.Forthe‘B’Configuration,thewhitecartridgeisplacedinthelastslot(cyanstation)andthecyan
cartridgeisplacedinthefirstslot(blackstation)oftheprinter.TheColorMappingfeatureexplainedinthis
manualoverridesthebasicdriveroftheprinterandautomaticallysendsthepropercolortotheproper
channel.Thisconfigurationisforgarmentprintingwherewhiteisneededasanoverprint,appliedontopofall
theothercolors.Whentheimageispressedtothegarment,thetransfersheetisflippedoverandthewhite
becomestheunderprint.
Thisisespeciallyimportantwhereimageshavehalftonesand100%transferoftheimageisanissueorwhen
thereiswhiteintheimagethatneedstoshowthroughfordarkcoloredgarments.

Toconvertyourprintertofluorescentcolors,swapoutthecyan,magentaandyellowSTDcolorcartridges
withyourfluorescentcolors.Ifoperatingin“B”configuration,insertthecyanfluorescentinthefirstslot.The
magentaandyellowgointheirnormalslots.Thewhitetonerisalreadyfluorescentandjuststaysinplace.
Fluorescenttoners,bytheirnature,areverybrightandcannotcreateaccuratecompositeblack.Besuretouse
imagesthathavebrightcolorsandavoiddarkorblackcolorsforbestresults.
Mostfluorescentimageswillbeplacedonablackordarkcoloredgarment,soblackwouldnotbesuggestedin
thesecasesanyway.
